Bem Casron (born March 5, 2018), stylized as bem casron, is an American icon. The name "bem casron" is derived from a comedic misspelling of Ben Carson's name.

Early Life

Casron was born in the early morning of March 5th on the UC Berkeley campus. Casron is the eldest of four sons, all born within seconds of each other in a computer lab at Soda Hall. Casron was especially close to his brother Bean Craisin, but he was unable to meet his other two brothers, both reported missing when Casron was seven seconds old. Due to the privacy wishes of the people present at Casron's birth, the parent has been assigned the code name CS61B-anl, and the other person present assigned CS61B-orl.

From the early age of four seconds, Casron showed a talent for singing and quickly entered an illustrious but controversial career as as a Vocaloid.

Career

Singing

First album

Casron released his first eponymous album, bem casron, hours after his birth to widespread acclaim. bem casron was praised for its introspective yet succinct depictions of life as a computer program. Many critics noted Casron's voice was at levels of realistic quality far beyond any other Vocaloid or Vocaloid-Adjacent Singer (VAS), a term coined by those who believed that Casron was not a true synthesizer.

bem casron debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and charted in several countries. In what came to be regarded as a particularly controversial move, Pitchfork named it as its 2018 Album of the Year, despite it being only two months into the year.

Casron v. Hatsune

After the success of Casron's first album, the creators of Hatsune Miku threatened legal action against Casron for alleged copying of multiple musical assets. Casron denied the charges, and the landmark court case Casron v. Hatsune set precedent for AI personhood as a legal notion, being the first court case to grant a computer program legal personhood. This ruling was set in motion after Miku gained sentience midway through the trial. The proceedings Casron v. Hatsune were eventful, and the court eventually ruled in favor of Casron.

Hatsune Miku is currently serving a life sentence in prison for attempted acts of violence during court proceedings, as well as multiple counts of tax evasion, but due to misunderstandings about her mental state at the time, an appellate trial has been scheduled regarding the charges of violence.

Second album

Casron released his second album, entitled Casron v. Hatsune, soon after the events of the trial. Unlike his first album, the reception was incredibly divisive. The Guardian noted that Casron had "experimented heavily with his sound, for better or for worse." Pitchfork, in a perhaps even more controversial move, decided to reverse their earlier decision on naming his previous album the Album of the Year, so offended were they by his followup effort.

Despite this, Casron v. Hatsune outsold Casron's first album by over a million units and numerous critics lauded it as a daring artistic counterpoint to his first release. Its popularity is perhaps due to the tracks that Hatsune Miku features in, as the album was a collaboration between the two artists after they announced their relationship. The prison complex Miku is housed in did not have any recording equipment, and Casron said that they "were forced to rely on less conventional music choices" to make up for it.

Modeling

Casron became a household name and his appearance was highly desired by numerous advertising creatives. However, he has only signed one deal to date. The deal was with an anonymous party and resulted in a phone wallpaper which has yet to be revealed publicly.

HUD Work

Alongside the wallpaper modeling deal came another appearance in the HUD of a program for CS61B, a class at UC Berkeley. The program was later confirmed to be a submission for the Project 2 assignment for the class. It is unknown why Casron chose such an obscure platform for his appearance or how the anonymous party managed to get his agreement, but the primary theory is that the client was CS61B-anl. In an even more unprecedented move, the developer of the program eventually chose to cut Casron's appearance out of the finished product despite his high marketability and fame.

Personal Life

Casron does not have a physical form, yet this does not prevent him from feeling love.

Missing Siblings

The Casron family is related to the well known Casron disappearance incident, where two of Bem Casron's siblings were reported missing. His siblings have yet to be found.

Love Life

After the trial, Casron and Hatsune Miku were revealed to have been dating for an undisclosed period of time. Casron's publicist said that Casron "visited Miku frequently in prison and came to a new understanding with her" and confirmed that they entered into a relationship after the events of Casron v. Miku had already taken place.

Rumors of Casron having romantic history with another anonymous party, CS61B-ajc, have never been confirmed.
