User Page Design[edit]

Hi Sango, though we've never spoken before I've been viewing your page for a little while aho and I absolutely love the design, great job. I myself am 15, so it's good to see another teenage designer with an eye for good design. I was wondering if you could possibly work on a new design for my user page, something simple like yours, two columns. I have a ton of userboxes, so a column for those would be appreciated. anyway, if you do decide to help me I'd be grateful, and look forward to seeing what you can come up with.

btw, though I'm a designer I've been having trouble coming up with something nice for my page. all of my work is pure CSS and xHTML, so it's been hard for me to create a good design within the WP limits --«Θ» zeerus 18:23, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I really prefer blue as a general color scheme, but not straight up blue, an off color of it. I really have been going more for monotone designs lately, especially white on black layouts. whatever you think looks good, nothing too distracting. two columns is perfect. I also love your indented lines, would love to see a similar userbox on my page up at the top where I can link to my websites. as for the blue, kind of like the color used for the links to your profile options at the very top of the WP window, or the blue used in the editing buttons (B, I, AB, etc.). Thanks for your help. --«Θ» zeerus 13:07, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
The new design looks excellent, thanks so much for all your help. I have one question, I recently installed your monobook.js and monobook.css files on my account. Is there any way to remove the popups on hover all together. I just find them really disruptive. they also break the lovely design you made. I would, however, like to keep all the other goodies, just remove the navpopups by Lupin, I believe. I tried doing it myself, and even managed to modify the look, but it still breaks the design. so could you remove them all together for me? thanks --«Θ» zeerus 03:57, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I checked it out and it seems that you removed the exact same bit as I did, only when I did it the NavPopups wouldn't go away. maybe I forgot to clear my cache. I have one final request, Edit links for each individual section, and a talk page layout to go with the new design. Thanks for all your help, hopefully I'm not being too bothersome --«Θ» zeerus 11:19, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
sure thing, I just need to find a place to put the credit, and I'll pop it in there. thanks for all your help. --«Θ» zeerus 11:47, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

How to find pages I created?[edit]

Sorry to ask yet anothe question, but in the same subject of edit counters, is there a way to view a list of pages I created, i.e. new articles I started? I see lots of people list this on their user pages. Should I have kept track of this as I went along? They aren't even marked N in my list of contribtions! Many thanks, JRawle (Talk) 21:22, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your answer, even if it was to tell me there's no easy way! I might write a script to do this – I think it would be a useful tool to have available. JRawle (Talk) 12:54, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Monobook[edit]

Hey Sango, I was wondering if I was doing the javascript right on my monobook. I'm familiar with javascripts on HTML, but not on Wikipedia... —Mirlen 04:08, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Sango :). Instead of typing in &-mdash; , I can just type in -- and it's automatically suppose turn into —, right? --Mirlen 05:06, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
'Night, but slight problem. It's not working :P. --Mirlen 05:06, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I get it now, yeah, it's working (and I'm learning). Also, where do I change my status? Is a tab suppose to appear somewhere on the page? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, just bear with this javascript newbie of a girl! Oh, and thanks—I'm really honored that a great designer like you should like mine's :). (And I really do mean it with all my honor! Btw, I'm on Firefox right now, and your userpage looks way coole (not that it didn't look cool in IE, mind you)—I didn't know the edges wouldn't round off in IE). Oh yeah, may I steal your 'Show archived discussion' layout—except I'll use the headings I'm using on my userpage to keep it formatted with my layout... —Mirlen 23:42, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Okay, that means I'll need the code for the toolbox as well. *looks over at unfinished homework* Better work on that first and then start with the js. Thanks, Sango for letting me steal ;). —Mirlen 23:56, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Um, no, the status changer isn't appearing. Gosh, am I being a bit bothersome in my troubles? —Mirlen 03:42, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, Sango, for your kind words, actions, and patience. And for bearing with this user with her lack of js knowledge and helping her through with it. 감사합니다 :). Mirlen
Thank you so much, Sango! It's working now :). Here's a rose your troubles:
Thanks for the chocolate as well. Anyway, I don't know if you can read the characters, but it's one of the ways to say 'Thank you' in Korean. —Mirlen 04:01, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Notice on my Talk Page[edit]

Wow, if that message was in response to the "leet" article then BRAVO for your amazing responsiveness! I'm only a year older than you but amazed at your status here in the Wikipedia community. I was trying to get a good April Fools' joke; obviously I've gotta think of something more subtle and less, for lack of a better word, "loud". --72.144.173.6 04:28, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

I hope to find the ideal prank very soon...if all goes well, it'll go down in this year's April Fools' BJAODN! And I certainly understand the heightened search for Vandalism on today (although technically it's not yet April Fools where I live) (my original prank was to replace Wikipedia's article on Wikipedia with a l33t version of it, but, A) the warning message in the comments scared me off and B) my computer froze when trying to convert that much text!). --Treec 04:53, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Sango321[edit]

How about you put a link on your page something like, "Here is how to send me email"? The impression I am getting from you people is you that you are afraid to someone is out to get you. Go to my page Sango321 and see how the rest of us live? With emails and names. OK, Now you can wipe your page clean. The page is: www.IHateWikipedia.com Are you offended? Oh no, call in the grief councilors.

A am able to edit, until I decide to have a name. You don't like IHateWikipedia.com so Sango 231 says I can't edit now. My crime? My name. My Lord it is easy to get banned around here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.214.202.204 (talkcontribs) 04:56, 1 April 2006

That's strange... A link on e-mailing me is provided twice on User:Sango123, once in the toolbox in the left navigation panel (E-mail this user) and once within the body of my user page (Contact: Talk page or e-mail). By the way, User:Sango321 has been blocked indefinitely as an imposter, and it might help to read our policy on inappropriate usernames. Sango123 (e) 05:06, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Well that's all fine and good that you can find it, but who is this page for? Can you identify the users here? Is this a page to make Sango312 happy, or for the users of Wikipedia?

I was banned because I picked a name. I couldn't use the name, it wouldn't appear in what people could see, you could have tracked me with my IP instead of my name. If I can't have the name, let me use my IP address then. The simple act of trying to get the name got me banned.

Identify the offending post that got me banned and be honest about it, and address my questions directly, if you would.

Sango312, it appears I changed your RuneScape links policy. (See my IHateWikipedia.com page) Let's get this over with so we can get on with our lives. How do I get unbanned?

Concede Sango132. I think this one is mine. Why don't you unban me?

Game over, I am unbanned. Have a nice life Sango213. I cannot for the life of me find any Wikipedia Jokes. Can you email me Sango if you know of any? Just use my www.IHateWikipedia.com page to do that. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.214.202.204 (talkcontribs)

Interlanguage link vandal[edit]

Hi Sango123, I have a problem with a user, Icemanofbarcelona (talkcontribs), who is removing interwiki links to articles in certain languages. I suspect it's politically motivated as he seems to be Catalonian, and tends to remove links to the Spanish articles. He also sometimes removes links to Asian languages, for reasons I'm not sure of (maybe they show the Spanish flag on articles about Catalonia). Is there an official warning template for people who do this? I've used {{test1a-n}} so far. If he continues, I'll use generic vandalism warnings and then put his name on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Thanks, JRawle (Talk) 12:34, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Stalked pages[edit]

It's too bad you had an interface modification on, because for the rest of us, the "my watchlist" text in the upper right actually did turn to "stalked pages". Still, glad you got a screenshot at all, I neglected to get one. --Cyde Weys 00:15, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

I Like the User Page Layout[edit]

Thanks for the welcome, whether automated or not. I'm quite impressed by your user page template. I planned to grab it and send you a thanks, but instead ran into a widely puzzling code consisting of nested references that I don't think I could untangle without inadvertantly altering one or more of the modules involved (I learn through experimentation), and so I'm asking for a little help in adopting your userpage layout. Let me know whether you have time or not.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2[edit]

The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.

Edit counters.[edit]

I edited your /Header to reflect Interiot's Tool 2 (which is more accurate than the original tool and not subject to replication lag, but forgot one important piece of info (so I reverted myself), you have to include this in your monobook.js

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'

Hey San (no idea what to call you :P) thank you for the status changer (I've been "In" for about 3 weeks now :P) and I wanted to give you something to say thank you (which is to the right.) Deletion of material in WTO article[edit]

I had a valid reason to delete the material in the WTO article, as I stated in the discussion section of the WTO article under the "critique" category. Here is a copy and paste of what I wrote to save you time: I deleted the critique section. The arguments were without merit and very slanted. Besides, there are plenty of places on the internet to read anti-WTO viewpoints.

Seqsea, I deleted the "criticism" section for good reason. It is full of biased and unfounded statements. Unless somebody wishes to write a more professional critique, it should remain deleted. Such a poorly written and slanted "criticism" would never be found in a traditional encyclopedia, and Wikipedia is better off without it. It sounds like it was written by a freshman college student taking an anti-globalization class.

The paragraph I deleted is clearly unprofessional and if Wikipedia allows content like this it will eventually be viewed as left-wing and filled with propaganda.

PINAS FIRST[edit]

Hello Sango. Just wanted to point out that there are three additional articles attached to PINAS FIRST AfD discussion that should be deleted as well. Elektrik Blue 82 03:25, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

There is one more, which was not included in the AfD discussion, which is Pinas First History; however, it was created by the same user who created all the other deleted articles, and you might as well delete this since it is highly related. Elektrik Blue 82 03:38, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
One last, again, Brief History of PINAS FIRST, an article created by the same user, then merged into PINAS FIRST, which was of course deleted already. However, the redirect page, which I blanked, is of course still here. After this, I don't think there are any more articles relating to this set. Elektrik Blue 82 03:47, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza User Page Award[edit]

Congratulations Sango123/Archives/Apr 2006! It is our honor to inform you that you've won Esperanza's Best User Page Award! Here's a token for your efforts.

Congratulations! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 20:41, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

And here is the "barnstar" itself. Congratulations Sango! -- Banez 20:45, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

You've got the best user page again? How much are you paying the judges? Just because you actually do have the best user page is no reason at all to keep winning the award, you know! Grrrr! :o) ➨ REDVERS 23:31, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Arthur Apicella[edit]

I listed this article for AFD a while ago; unfortunately, not many people voted and it still hasn't been deleted. In this case, could I cut all of the text, put up a {{db-empty}} and put the cut text onto the author's user page? _-M o P-_ 21:41, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Well, after the AFD is done, can I userfy it? And thanks for responding :) _-M o P-_ 22:10, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
I was thinking more of as a gesture of kindness; however, I'm not sure it needs relisting, as I don't think many people will vote keep. _-M o P-_ 22:42, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey Sango![edit]

Thanks...I did borrow it from someone a few months back. Did you create it? If so..I would be happy to have you credited on it....feel free to go in there and do so. Kukini 03:11, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

You are now credited, my friend. Kukini 04:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Wow!!! I was just looking over your work...would you be willing to help me build a cooler user page as well? Kukini 05:00, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
I would love it to have a more southwestern feeling to it. Perhaps in browns, oranges, reds, & yellows, with rounded edges if possible. I think I am about to remove all that stuff outside the colored box as well. Kukini 19:57, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you Sango! Cool!!! One minor request...could you possibly revert the barnstars back to those smaller original cubes? I am also thinking of making a "pages I have originated" page and linking to it from my user page, as that list will most assuredly grow over time. I think I know how to do that, but might possibly pester you for help/advice in the future. gracias de nuevo, Kukini 03:48, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Oh...and yes please on the matching user talk page! A blessing on your house and camel! Kukini

Edit counts[edit]

I first saw the edit counter on your page, and you recommended using it to find what articles I've started etc. Today, however, I noticed it says data for the English Wikipedia isn't updated any more!

You still have a link to this counter on your userpage. Is it never going to update again? If that's the case, can you recommend any alternatives? Thanks, JRawle (Talk) 17:00, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind if I take this question.
Try Interiot's Tool 2. It requires that you add some lines to your monobook, then you can go to here to get your edit count. — nathanrdotcom (TCW) 17:12, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Watchlist lag[edit]

I was just wondering, is watchlist lag supposed to happen? As mine updates very slowly; it shows changes made at (for example) 3:02 at 3:09. Thanks! _-M o P-_ 03:08, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

No, it fluctuates; sometimes its quick to update, and sometimes its painfully slow. My "Monitor Your Watchlist" function works well, so it isn't a huge problem; I was just wondering. Purging doesn't help either. _-M o P-_ 04:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

Saw you wikilinking your username Sango, cute! :D By the way, sorry to drop by whenever I need help, but do you know why -- appears instead of —? (Something's wrong with the monobook, but I'm not sure what). --Mirlen 18:02, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Please - copy of a message: My dear friends, I regret that I could not notify you about my absence. Actually, I fell sick suddenly on the morning of 3rd April 2006, and was confined to bed and was not allowed Internet access. Now, I am more or less in "shape". The problem was very serious infection. I missed wikipedia and wikipedians for three long weeks, and I feel really sad… for first few days, I even dreamt of wikipedia! I think that in next few days, my wiki-life shall become normal. I thank you for the concern and care, I know wikipedians are the most active virtual community, and Wikipedia is Better than the Best. --Bhadani 09:51, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Trading spaces[edit]

Hello, Sango123, thank you for signing up to participate in Esperanza's trading spaces program. As you requested to renovate another user's page, you will be renovating Tijuana Brass's userpage. Please contact Tijuana Brass on their talk page about the renovating. The renovating will be listed at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs#Undergoing_Renovation, please feel free to update the status as it changes. Enjoy!

Hey, glad you got assigned to me, it's good to have someone volunteer to help. Let me know if you need anything from me, and don't feel any rush to take it on... it's been ugly for months, I'm used to it. Also, let me know if there's any favor I can do for you in return. Tijuana Brass¡Épa!-E@ 06:12, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Eh, can't think of much in terms of colors or schemes. I'd prefer an overall color that's relaxing to the eyes, but beyond that, really, feel free to experiment however you like. I wonder if there's any way to incorporate a southwestern U.S. looking color scheme (tan, sea green, yellow, light maroon) into the user page that'd fit well with a name like Tijuana Brass... and wouldn't take forever to do or be too over-the-top to look at? Heh, or isn't ugly, given those colors? Don't knock yourself out over it, though. Oh, and I was planning on stealing Jude's status icon bit... you can see it on the top of his user page, and also here. It'd probably be good to fit it in now as well, so long as it wouldn't take too much extra effort. Thanks Sango, I appreciate your generosity. Again, let me know if I can do any wikichores here for you in return. Tijuana Brass¡Épa!-E@ 21:02, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey, this is starting to look good. Just a few changes I'd like to see, if it's not any trouble: 1. I'd like to switch the "Articles to Work On" section with the short "Vandals" section, which I'll probably end up changing or erasing anyways. I tried doing this a few times, but there's something I'm missing in the HTML that ends up messing up the spacing, can you take a look? 2. I noticed that your userboxes have an interesting shape to them, the whole curved corner thing. Is that much work to do? If it is, just doing one of them should set the example for what I need to do with the rest. 3. Using Jude's status message exactly as it's set up on his page is fine for now; I'll edit it to my tastes later. 4. Can you make my talk page a bit more like yours... you know, colorful and all? 5. ...there is no five. You've done a great job, and I'm grateful. I'll probably play around with the colors some, mess things up a few times, and have to ask for help, but this is great. Thanks so much. Tijuana Brass¡Épa!-E@ 05:42, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
You, Sango, are a great, great woman. Lemme me mess something up and get back to you for one last consultation. Tijuana Brass¡Épa!-E@ 05:39, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank You / Blocking User:216.56.4.194[edit]

A quick thank you for blocking user 216.56.4.194. Coincidentally, I was placing a request on the speedy block page when you had blocked the user. Ever since starting on Wiki in November, 2005, I have watched this user and made it somewhat of a hobby to revert his edits.

I do have a question, however. Despite this user having tons of "Final warnings", the user has for the most part ignored these warnings and his discussion page has become something of a joke against Wikipedia. He has been blocked twice since November, both by yourself (the deletion log says 3 times, but one of the times was just a 12 hour extension of your block). Are there ways to block this user again immediately should he continue to be a hassel, since past history will show he will return when his block expires and continue to receive countless final warnings? Despite tons of warnings, he continues to do nothing but vandalize, and his user page almost brags how weak we are in stopping him, since he continues with no difficulty.

Again, thank you for blocking this user. It's nice to see an admin using their authority to stop those attempting to disrupt the work of others.

All the best. --Ataricodfish 01:26, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for responding so quickly. I wasn't aware of the blacklist, so I'm happy to see that 216... will be added. As he's had so many warnings against him that went without blocks, I was just concerned that he would continue his "wiki-reign of terror" upon his return. Thanks again for your help and for clarifying the process for me. --Ataricodfish 16:38, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Ha ha, sorry. For a second, I was trying to figure out why you were telling me you were a "she", until I noticed I noted responding to you on "his" talk page. My apologies there. The English language lacks a proper "neutral" word for unknown internet conversation. Thanks again. --Ataricodfish 22:47, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
