Dear friends,
I am known for leaving a destructive trail of bare URLs across Wikipedia. My sincerest apologies, but the time I have for editing is limited, and I'd like to spend it adding new content. Time permitting, I will slowly work through my old edits and format them properly.

I split my time between Southern California and Upstate New York. Shannon is the name of a lake in the Pacific Northwest, the most beautiful place on Earth.

Subjects of both personal and Wikipedia interest -

  • Rivers, lakes, geography
  • Dams & hydraulic engineering
  • Western US history

I also like art, architecture, ships and geopolitics, although I usually don't edit those topics.

Maps page here.

In the past I edited under two different usernames and due to a username change issue a ghost account takes credit for all 12,215 of my edits prior to April 10, 2010. Grrr.

I'm also a co-founder of Wikiproject Dams.

I have written or contributed significantly to somewhere between 400–500 articles. Click here for a full list but for the time being, see below for some of my better work.

Featured and good[edit]

Other stuff that's fairly important, notable, interesting, etc.[edit]

Not my photo, but the handiwork of our favorite government agency that nobody knows

And an unknown number of articles soon to fall victim to my WikiDragoning. See User:Shannon1/Pages Created for a full list of most of my older pages circa 2013 and before... I don't update that page with any consistency anymore.

Awards and stuff[edit]

Thanks to everyone who's appreciated my work in this community!

For all your hard work on articles about bodies of water, rivers in particular. Keep it flowing at a high discharge! You don't seem to be affected by this summer's great drought. Jsayre64 (talk) 17:59, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

rivers and dams
Veteran user with a name from "the most beautiful place on earth" (have you been there now?), playing the violin, showing "inspiration", turning Wikipedia green, thank you for quality articles on rivers and hydraulic engineering of the United States, such as the Colorado, Aliso Creek (Orange County) (that shaped your life) and Missouri River (improved with perseverance), for project dams, for stopping at nothing, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!
