Sharon Flynn[edit]

Hi, I'm Sharonlflynn on Wikipedia.

I live in county Galway, in the West of Ireland. I'm originally from Dublin. I studied Mathematics and Computer Science at University College Dublin, and I have a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow

I work at the National University of Ireland, Galway, in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT). I have a particular interest in using technology to support teaching and learning.

I blog on various aspects of technology in education at LearnTech Galway.

For more about me, see my About Me page.

Wikimedia Activities[edit]

Following a presentation demonstrating the potential benefits of Wikimedia in education, I became a member of the Wikimedia Community Ireland User Group. I am particularly interested in using Wikimedia to support teaching and learning activities in higher education.

I would like to be a campus ambassador at NUI Galway and to encourage academic staff to use Wikimedia to support teaching and student learning. To this end, I've already helped to organise editathons and events for students, staff and the community at NUI Galway.

If you'd like to get in touch about any potential Wikimedia projects, use my Talk page, and I'll get back to you.

Articles[edit]

At the moment I'm particularly interested in improving the representation of women and women's work on wikipedia - especially Irish women.
