Hello Wikipedia community! My name is Shane Kiefer and I am a senior at Bucknell University. I am majoring in economics with concentrations in psychology and environmental studies, and in the future I hope to potentially work in the photojournalism industry. I am currently enrolled in a History of Ecology course in my senior spring semester, and one of the jobs of the course is to create and update Wikipedia articles. Please feel free to visit our course homepage, History of Ecology. I am very excited to become more familiar with the Wiki World!

The topic that I will be working on as my main project:

Atomic Energy Commission: I would like to work on this topic because the current Wikipedia page is not very descriptive about what the Atomic Energy Commission really was all about, and I would like to learn more about the history of its' formation. I have always felt that the period directly after World War II was incredibly influential in shaping our country into what it currently is today, so being able to work on a page devoted to a government commission about atomic energy would be incredibly fascinating. In looking at the current Wikipedia page about the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, I feel that there could be many improvements made to the page to include more about the formation process and history of the commission so that people would actually get a good idea of what the AEC served to do for the country as well as the environmental ramifications about pursuing atomic energy. The Wikipedia community would definitely benefit from having a more developed page on the AEC so that we can all gain a greater understanding of the national mindset during the period directly after the war and learn from these case studies.
