Perseverance[edit]

"Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Welcome back! TransporterMan (TALK) 17:57, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Thanks @TransporterMan:. I'm not really sure where I'm gonna fit in nowadays since dispute resolution was always my thing on Wikipedia (heck, i have the dispute resolution barnstar as a tattoo) but I hope to find something to do on here. Steven Crossin 02:09, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Wanna sink your teeth into something different? check out WP:RETENTION, where there's changes being done. GoodDay (talk) 04:38, 16 February 2017 (UTC)

Are you still doing mentoring?[edit]

Hi Steve, are you mentoring new editors? If so I may have a candidate for you. Check out Izaiah.morris. He (I'm kinda assuming a male here) has gotten himself into some trouble and is currently blocked. But he has expressed what sounds like genuine regret and a desire to contribute constructively. Alas there are some WP:CIR concerns here so I've set mentoring as a condition for unblocking. Anyway if your interested drop a line on their talk page and see if your both amenable. If your not, just reply to me here. Thanks! -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:15, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Ad Orientem:, I'm afraid I'm not really, at this stage. I don't really have the time to keep an eye on users at this stage. Sorry. Steven Crossin 14:29, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks for the note. -Ad Orientem (talk) 14:30, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Dispute Resolution Noticeboard Volunteer Roll Call[edit]

This is a volunteer roll call sent to you on behalf of the current Dispute Resolution Noticeboard Coordinator, Robert McClenon, and is being sent to you because you have listed yourself as a volunteer at DRN. If you remain interested in helping at DRN and are willing to actively do so by taking at least one case (and seeing it through) or helping with administrative matters at least once per calendar month, please add your name to the roll call list. Those who do not add their name on the roll call list will be removed from the principal volunteer list after May 31, 2017 unless the DRN Coordinator chooses to retain their name for the best interest of DRN or the encyclopedia. Individuals whose names are removed after May 31, 2017, should feel free to re-add their names to the principal volunteer list, but are respectfully requested not to do so unless they are willing to take part at DRN at least one time per month as noted above. No one is going to be monitoring to see if you live up to that commitment, but we respectfully ask that you either live up to it or remove your name from the principal volunteer list.

Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 21:54, 27 April 2017 (UTC) (Not watching this page)

AfD close[edit]

Thank you for your words at ANI. I'd like to discuss the close with you, both because of the issues I have with it, and to clear up any misconception that I have any issues with your motive for closing, or with you personally. I see you've only recently returned from an extended break. It's regrettable that you've been dragged into an ANI drama-fest as a reward for your sincere efforts to help. I may not have a chance to post a complete statement until later tonight or possibly even tomorrow. I figured I'd drop you a quick note in the meanwhile to let you know that there was never any personal animosity on my part about this. Joefromrandb (talk) 01:08, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Joefromrandb (talk · contribs), that's completely fine. I didn't take the comments or the reversion personally, though it did take me by surprise. I have been away for some time, but I have closed my fair share of AFDs over the years. I have noted on ANI that I am not overly fussed if an admin wishes to overturn my closure, as it is their right to do so, but I do disagree that my closure was a supervote, I merely judged the consensus as I saw it and weighed it with policy. Of course, I am happy to discuss further, and I of course am human, so if my close is overturned, I am not overly fussed, but I would hope that if it is overturned, it is because my decision was incorrect, not merely because it was me that closed the AFD. Cheers, Steven Crossin 01:59, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
While I disagree with your closure of the AfD, I want to state for the record that I think you have handled this entire incident in a very gracious and commendable manner. Lepricavark (talk) 02:22, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
I appreciate that. I'm not really phased as to whether the result is overturned or not - I periodically review old AFDs and close them when I see a consensus. I haven't been around for some time, and the conclusion I came to may have been incorrect (and I have asked for my closure to be reviewed at AN). Not much really phases me. I've dealt with more contentious topics before. Steven Crossin 02:30, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Talk:Lemonade (Insurance)[edit]

Hi! Would you mind taking a look at this draft for my Wikipedia entry? I am trying to submit a page about Lemonade, a new insurance company! If you have any questions, you can reach me at smspecter@gmail.com. Thank you!!

Lemonade Inc. is a New York City-based insurance company that sells property and casualty renters and home insurance powered by artificial intelligence and behavioral economics.[1] Rather than using insurance brokers and salespeople, Lemonade uses chatbots to deliver insurance and handle claims through its app and website.[2]

As of 2017, Lemonade offers insurance in New York, California, and Illinois.[3] Lemonade is popular among young city-dwellers in the 25 to 34 age range, most of whom rent and did not own property insurance before signing up for Lemonade.[4][5] As of June 2017, Lemonade has captured 27% market share among newcomers to insurance.[6]

History

Lemonade Inc. was founded by Shai Wininger and Daniel Scheiber.[7] They founded the company shortly after Scheiber left a wireless charging startup Powermat where he was President, and Wininger stepped away from his role as Fiverr’s cofounder, where he led product and technology.[8]

In December 2015, Lemonade raised $13 million in seed round funding, led by Sequoia Capital, in one of the largest seed investments in the Sequoia’s history.[9] Aleph VC co-lead the deal.[10]

In late 2015, the company hired Professor Dan Ariely as Chief Behavioral Officer. Ariely is a professor of psychology and behavioral economics at Duke University and author of a number of bestselling books on the subject.[11]

In August 2016, Lemonade raised $14 in Series A funding from XL Innovate.[12]

Lemonade launched its first state, New York, on September 21st, 2016.[13]

Lemonade sold 2,000 policies in its first 100 days in market.[14] Of those, over 80% were sold to people who bought an insurance policy for the first time.[15]

In December 2016, Lemonade raised $33.1 million in Series B funding, led by General Catalyst, with money also coming from GV (formerly Google Ventures), Thrive Capital and Tusk Ventures.[16]

Lemonade broke a world record on December 16th, 2016 for the fastest paid insurance claim in history.[17] Lemonade’s AI approved a claim in three seconds.[18]

In April 2017, the company raised an undisclosed amount from Allianz SE, and an undisclosed amount from Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures.[19]

The company launched in Illinois on April 4th, 2017,[20] and in California on May 10th, 2017.[21]

As of June 2017, the company has had more than 14,000 customers.[22] In June, it also received its license to operate in seven more states, including Arizona, Texas, and Virginia.[23]

Model

Lemonade’s business model differs from that of typical insurance companies. Lemonade keeps a flat fee of 20% of a customer’s premium.[24] The company sets aside 40% mainly to purchase reinsurance from firms such as Lloyd’s of London to cover major claims that exceed what the premiums can cover.[25] The remaining 40% of the customer’s premium covers claims.[26] When customers sign up for a Lemonade policy, they are asked to choose a charity, such as Citymeals on Wheels, Robin Hood, and more than a dozen others.[27] Lemonade groups together the customers who choose the same cause, and their insurance premiums constitutes as a group fund to cover the claims.[28] At the end of the year, the money that is not used for claims is donated to the cause that is chosen by each group.[29]
