Zachary Alexander Bagans, known as Zak Bagans, was born on April 5, 1977 in Washington, D.C. He is an American writer, director, producer, lead investigator and co-founder of the television series Ghost Adventures. [1] The series airs on the Travel Channel.

Early Life

Zak Bagans as born April 5, 1977 in Washington D.C. He attended and graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1995, then shortly after, attended the Motion Picture Institute in Michigan to pursue a career in filming documentaries. [2]

While living in his former apartment building in Trenton, Michigan, Bagans described that he had a face-to-face encounter with the spirit of a suicidal woman. He was a former skeptic, but from this encounter, Bagans became fascinated with the paranormal and with catching video evidence of the afterlife. [3]

After graduating, Bagans moved to Las Vegas, aspiring to film documentaries. After arriving in Las Vegas, he worked as a wedding disc jockey.[3]

Career

Zak Bagans began his quest for the paranormal after he befriended Nick Groff while at a wedding. Together, the two of them created the show Ghosts Adventures. Bagans is known as being the aggressive, confrontational one on the television show. His ghost-hunting style includes taunting, provoking, and confronting the spirits head on.[4]

In an interview, Bagans stated “I don’t hunt ghosts, I communicate with them.”[1] He has been doing so since 2008, when the first Ghost Adventures show aired on the Travel Channel

In 2011, Bagans’ book "Dark World" was released. He explains that in the real world his biggest pet peeves are bullies, and bullies do not just exist in the real world, but in the afterlife as well.

Bagans is known for his confrontational approach to every paranormal investigation, in which it creates a lot of debate among viewers. This provided Bagans with the motives behind writing his book. In his book, "Dark World", he explains his motives behind his confrontational approach and why it works. He claims that he only provokes the spirits that bullies and causes harm to the living.[5]

Zak Bagans has a private dungeon in the basement of his home, decorated with real human skulls and artifacts he has collected throughout the years. He once stated in an interview “I collect a lot of cursed objects, that’s why I have a lot of problems.”Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).

Bagans also has a passion for music. In 2013, he launched his private clothing brand "Reaper" and has been in 2 music collaborations; Lords of Acid's Paranormal Energy" and "Necrofusion." He recently announced that he is Executive Producer for a feature film "Sympathy Said the Shark." Bagans also produced a reality show Paranormal Paparazzi[6]

In 2014, Bagans purchased a house in Gary, Indiana that attained international fame for its paranormal activity.* He paid $35,000 for the modest one story house.[7] Bagans states that he plans to live in the house to document any paranormal phenomenon that goes on.
