The following table compares the coverage and quality of Wikipedia articles to those of the Encyclopædia Britannica (2007) and the 4th edition of Albert L. Lehninger's Principles of Biochemistry. The goal is to determine whether Wikipedia could serve adequately as a reliable resource in teaching undergraduate biochemistry classes. The broad selection of topics were taken from the glossaries of three common undergraduate texts in biochemistry and molecular biology:
