Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Reason: Jeremiah Justin Simms, also known as Wifiskeleton, has an article that was accepted through Articles for Creation, demonstrating notability. The Wifiskeleton page has been protected under WP:SALT due to repeated page recreations. It is recommended that the page be unprotected and unsalted, and that the article for Jeremiah Justin Simms be moved to Wifiskeleton. Monkegamer123 (talk) 18:21, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

[edit]

@Cypp0847 has authored 198 articles, of which only 2 have been deleted. One of these was for WP:SYNTH, the AfD having taken place during October 2022. They primarily translate articles from the Chinese Wikipedia, recent examples contain no issues that require action by an NPR. I reviewed Ma Tau Wai Road building collapse and found no issues, other than adding the translation banner to the talk page. Chinese sources vary in reliability, but based on the articles I have reviewed from @Cypp0847, the sourcing appears consistent and without issue. BLPs such as John Clancey are well sourced and do not leave any information uncited. A recent AfD of their article John MacLennan resulted in a unanimous keep. Their talk page is mostly filled with automated messages regarding images, with little after April 2025. Based on what I've seen from @Cypp0847, I am quite confident the 2022 AfD SYNTH concerns were an anomaly, and doesn't appear to have been an ongoing issue, with no reoccurrences since. Thank you for your contributions and translations, @Cypp0847! 11WB (talk) 10:38, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

@11WB: Thank you for your nomination and your kind words. Will do the best to keep up with the good work. ~~ J. Dann 10:47, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
No problem! This should be seen and reviewed by an administrator within the next 7 days or so! 11WB (talk) 10:49, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

I came across Javajourney while reviewing new pages and was impressed with their clean pages on music subjects. They have created 106 undeleted mainspace pages since late 2024. (There are three deleted articles, all from early on in their Wikipedia career, plus a recently deleted inadvertently created redirect. A number of articles created in 2024 were redirected or merged at AfD, and Javajourney appears to have taken Bastun's advice to bone up on notability to heart.) I reviewed the last 10 created pages in depth. Notability is always clearly demonstrated, whether through chart performance, reviews or some other WP:NMUSIC criterion. (NMUSIC is one of the harder SNGs to master and Javajourney appears to understand how to strongly demonstrate notability for the benefit of a reviewer.) Pages are all highly presentable, NPOV is maintained, and talk pages are created. Sourcing is strong and primary sources are used appropriately (e.g. for chart performance). At the pace Javajourney is creating new articles, granting them autopatrolled will reduce the queue for reviewers without compromising on the quality of the encyclopedia. Dclemens1971 (talk) 03:36, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I am requesting autopatrolled rights as I have recently reached the 25-article milestone on the English Wikipedia, primarily focusing on Moroccan public institutions and strategic infrastructure (e.g., ADA, ANP, and ANEP).

My contributions are well-sourced, categorized, and inter-connected via a navigation template (Template:Public institutions of Morocco) and a central list (List of government agencies of Morocco). Recently, I've been performing maintenance tasks such as adding to biographies and managing talk page banners. I aim to reduce the burden on New Page Reviewers as I continue to document the Moroccan institutional landscape. Thank you for your time. Mohamed Filali (talk) 09:30, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

  • (Non-administrator comment) Maintenance tasks and managing talk banners are generally completed by new page reviewers. You may want to read WP:NPR and make at request at WP:PERM/NPR if you believe you qualify.
Regarding AP, I have a few things I wish to note. Firstly, whilst 25 articles is the threshold, it doesn't mean it's given as soon as that's reached. Secondly, I've spotted some minor article issues. List of government agencies of Morocco has no sources and has quite a few WP:REDLINKS. Mohamed Métalsi has also been tagged with [citation needed], which as a WP:BLP is not great. (I'm also unsure this person meets WP:NPERSON.)
You've clearly made a real effort to expand WP:Morocco, which I applaud. However, I am going to remain neutral for AP. Thank you for your contributions!
11WB (talk) 09:57, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the constructive feedback. I have fully addressed the concerns raised regarding the Mohamed Métalsi article by adding independent secondary sources, including his doctoral record from theses.fr and his official decoration from the French Ministry of Culture, while also verifying his academic role at the UEMF. All [citation needed] tags have been removed. Furthermore, I have significantly improved the List of government agencies of Morocco by sourcing it with official 2025 reports from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Court of Accounts, while cleaning up red links and categorizing institutions based on Organic Law 02-12. In addition to these improvements, I am continuing my maintenance work on biographies and managing talk page banners. I appreciate your guidance on the NPR process and would be grateful if you could take another look at my request. Best regards. Mohamed Filali (talk) 11:58, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
I'm not an administrator I should note here, I can only offer feedback and nothing more. I was unaware your edit count is only at 400. This doesn't meet the threshold for NPP at this time. Although I said only apply if you believe that you qualify, I should have performed that basic check regardless. I apologise for the poor recommendation. 11WB (talk) 12:10, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
No problem, 11WB! I appreciate the clarification. I'll stay focused on reaching the 500-edit milestone in due time. For now, my priority remains the Autopatrolled request and ensuring my contributions meet the community's standards. Thanks for your feedback! Mohamed Filali (talk) 12:30, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

 Done * Pppery * it has begun... 03:50, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

I am requesting AWB/JWB access to assist with the maintenance and standardization of articles related to Moroccan institutions, governance, and infrastructure. Over the past few days, I have created several high-quality articles (e.g., ONSSA, ADD, and several Moroccan Ministries).

I have noticed many related pages require repetitive cleanup tasks, such as fixing internal links, standardizing infoboxes, and adding relevant portals like {{Portal}}. While I am currently approaching 150 manual edits, my contributions consist of significant article creations and major expansions. Access to JWB would allow me to handle these routine tasks more efficiently. I am familiar with AWB policies and will use the tool responsibly. Mohamed Filali (talk) 10:21, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

I would like this to help combat vandalism, and clean up typos. I am quite active anti-vandalism wise, and have experience with correcting grammar on Wikipedia with the syntax and find-and-replace features it provides. It would be helpful to reverse or edit multiple articles that have been vandalized quickly as to minimize the time spent, and to search for and fix typos in a fast and timely manner. It could also be helpful to expand the article list of fires. pHLOGISTON eNTHUSIAST (tALK pAGE) 17:50, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) AWB shouldn't (and usually can't) be used to fight vandalism - for most automated programs like Huggle and mass rollback, you'll need rollback instead. HurricaneZetaC 16:27, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi. I'm requesting AutoWikiBrowser so I can fix some broken links on articles, because checking back to see which ones are dead, are quite annoying and make my hand tired, also wanting to do tasks quickly- to improve articles as fast as I can, and fixing up messy grammar and typos, and finally finding articles that need improvement. I'm also commonly active on the recent changes and abuse log, so I can catch vandals and unhelpful contributions, and reverting bad faith edits would be faster with AWB. Thanks! ♠GreatestPolskaHamster (hamster chat!) 00:41, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I'm requesting JWB in order to add categories to articles, on the basis of referenced statements present in Wikidata, where I am mainly active (and admin); in the last weeks I have already been using JWB for the same action in it.wikipedia (cf.), where I am also admin, and in es.wikipedia (cf.). Thanks very much! --Epìdosis 17:33, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I would like to use the JS Wiki Browser to enhance my overall editing experience and make tedious tasks easier.

  • My primary use of the tool would be for occasional assistance with fixing typos and grammar issues, as I am an active WP:GOCE copyeditor.
  • Other uses would be on an as-needed basis, such as adding missing categories.
If granted access, I will use the tool responsibly. ThatOneTechNerd (talk) 19:47, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Each month a message goes out to members on the distribution list (see e.g. the February message). I've read the guidance for use, and Lajmmoore has kindly offered to provide support, including coaching me through my first message. Many thanks, Chocmilk03 (talk) 21:03, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions and your interest in this permission. Unfortunately, your track record at AfD suggests that you do not yet have sufficient experience in assessing source quality.  Not done for now. signed, Rosguill talk 16:43, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I am requesting New Page Reviewer rights again. This is my second request, and I would like to return to reviewing articles that need work. I have experience working at AfD last year and currently making articles. I have created and expanded several articles and through this work, have become familiar with notability requirements (especially the importance of notable sources) and BLP policy. I would like to help out further by reviewing new pages. AdobongPogi masarap 🍛 04:19, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

On hold. In your prior trial run, I think you made the wrong call at Hussain Al-Aryan and The Festival Players Theatre Company, which comprise about a third of the pages you reviewed. However, you've opened a lot of AfDs recently, and most of them appear to be going well at the moment. If your AfD track record still looks good in a week or two once those are closed, I think a second trial run is warranted. signed, Rosguill talk 16:59, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

I am requesting New Page Reviewer rights to assist in improving the quality of new articles, particularly those related to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Although my edit count is currently around 412, I have been an active member of the Wikipedia community for 4 years (account created in 2022).

I have a solid understanding of notability guidelines (WP:N) and BLP policies, as recently demonstrated in my cleanup and sourcing of Mohamed Métalsi and List of government agencies of Morocco. My request follows a suggestion from 11WB during my autopatrolled application, who noted that my maintenance work aligns well with NPR tasks. I am committed to maintaining high standards and reducing the backlog in the New Page Review process. Thank you for your consideration. Mohamed Filali (talk) 12:02, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I didn't actually check your edit count, sorry! You don't meet the criteria, as it requires 500 edits as a minimum. 11WB (talk) 12:07, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the update! I have just reached the milestone of 500+ mainspace edits (verified via edit counter). I appreciate your initial recommendation and would be grateful if the request for New Page Reviewer could now be reconsidered by an administrator. I remain committed to maintaining high-quality standards. Thanks! Mohamed Filali (talk) 13:05, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I'd like to help address the NPP backlog. I've been a pending changes reviewer for some time, but the backlog there is typically very low. Coining (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I've written a decent number of pages and participated in a few AfD discussions. I'd like to extend my involvement in this area of Wikipedia by now reviewing pages. Phibeatrice (talk) 01:02, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

My general wheelhouse has long been pages within WP:WPRS and WP:TVS. For those unfamiliar with WP:NCBC, and in particular with television and radio stations in the United States, the articles are determined by the station's call sign, with or without necessary disambiguators. Call signs (in effect, the title of the article) can change, and one thing that now occurs are "call sign swaps" where two stations will automatically exchange call signs at the same time. I had previously been relying on Sammi Brie to do the needed moves, but such swaps are now occurring with greater frequency to the point where having the permissions myself is now a necessity. Nathan Obral • he/him/🦝 • tc • 21:01, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Vouching for this. I was granted PM in 2020 precisely to handle round-robin swaps and simultaneous chain moves (A→B and B→C). I am currently the only editor with both pagemover and this topic specialty. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 21:12, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights Aakashnavindu (talk) 09:43, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Good day, I would like to request pending changes reviewer rights as I regularly clear vandalism and warn users appropriately, and ensure edits meet Wikipedia's sourcing standards. I have been using Ultraviolet/RedWarn to do so, and would like Pending changes reviewer rights to help review edits on vandalism-prone pages. Thank you for your time and consideration. Hello, I'm a regular recent changes and abuse log monitor who actively reverts unconstructive edits, and I think it would be nice to have this right to be able to fight vandalism more efficiently. I have been editing for about half an year, have ~1,500 edits, and have read WP:RPC and WP:PC. I also have some prior experience with Pending Changes from WP:RCP. Thank you for your consideration. Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

I am requesting the rollback right mainly to gain access to tools such as AntiVandal and Huggle so that I can revert vandalism much faster. I have been patrolling recent changes for about 6 months and almost all of my mainspace edits are antivandalism or recent changes related. Thank you. I feel like I have sufficient experience with patrolling and evaluating the value of recent changes, especially at 3O, AfD, and AfC.
Can you articulate certain metrics that would be sufficient? Jcgaylor (talk) 08:32, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Rollback is about reverting vandalism quickly. None of those areas are relevant to your qualifications for it. I am not willing to commit to any specific metric, but as a general note I don't even see the month of experience with recent changes patrolling mentioned in the header of this page, only several brief spurts months apart from each other. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:07, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

Through 3O, AfD, and WikiProjects, I now monitor a large number of articles that are subject to edits that are not necessarily vandalism, but are nevertheless inappropriate. Some impact the neutrality of the article. Others lack sources or are AI-created. Some are vandalism. If it is a sourcing issue, I always look for sources before reverting. However, I keep coming across a series of edits where the entire lot has to be reverted. I frequently find myself waiting for another editor to solve the issue. Since I am on Wikipedia daily and am an experienced editor, I believe I am a good candidate for rollback permission. Rublamb (talk) 13:35, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

I would like rollback to fight vandalism more efficiently using AntiVandal. I have more than 500 mainspace edits, and I know how it works as I have used Ultraviolet and VandalHandle which have a very similar one-click revert mechanic. I have more than 2 months experience patrolling RC, I consistently notify editors when reverting vandalism, and I do not have any history of edit warring. I am requesting rollback rights to help fight vandalism more efficiently. I have been active for 4 years and recently reached 500+ mainspace edits. I have experience in patrolling new pages and dealing with blanking and promotional content (e.g., my recent action on Karuthal (2026 film)). I am familiar with the WP:ROLLBACK policy and understand that this tool is only for blatant vandalism. This right will help me revert disruptive edits faster while I continue my work on the Morocco project. Thank you. Mohamed Filali (talk) 13:23, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi @Mohamed0612. It might be a good idea to slow down on requesting permissions. Rollback brings the count to four in only a few days. This could give the impression that you are hat collecting. As a new editor, it would be a good idea to contribute to specific areas of Wikipedia that interest you and then request permissions down the line to assist with those contributions where applicable. 11WB (talk) 01:12, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) +1 to this. Focus on making good contributions, not collecting permissions. Also, rollback is for active counter vandalism patrollers; I don't particularly see evidence that you are active in counter-vandalism. I don't really think undoing the blanking at Karuthal was best to do either; to my knowledge, blanking usually means they want a WP:G7 on the page. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 01:56, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

Requests for template editor

Template editor

[edit]

Hi! I'm requesting an extension to my currently-granted template editor rights, as I'm about a week out from my trial expiring. My original request was made here and granted at Special:PermaLink/1323646684#User:MikeVitale as a trial until the end of January. During this time, I've had User:AnomieBOT/TPERTable open as a tab, and used it to find and fulfill multiple template edit requests from other editors. Pinging @User:Sohom_Datta who granted my initial trial. MikeVitale 00:44, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

Automated comment This user was granted temporary template editor rights by Sohom Datta (expires 00:00, 31 January 2026 (UTC)). MusikBot talk 00:50, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Special:Diff/1333056492 is the only TPER responded to since granting (and the only template-protected template full stop), and only 20 total edits (all but five to this template). Primefac (talk) 14:18, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, that's not correct.
I don't have the time right this minute to comb through the last 2+ months of my edit history, but I have made far more TPER edits than simply 1. I'm not here to claim that I've made hundreds, but stating that I have only responded to one template edit request is simply factually incorrect. --MikeVitale 15:50, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Seems like I made the time.
Most of my TPER edit responses have been to the module namespace, not the template namespace, it turns out. --MikeVitale 15:55, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Apologies, I was not thinking about the module space and the links above only include Template-space edits. I do note a dozen edits to Module:College_color/data, plus one other edit. Primefac (talk) 16:14, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
For any other passing admins, I'm leaning decline on this one, but I do recognise the repeated edits to the college color module; I wonder if it might be worth dropping protection to ECP similar to Module:Political party and its subpages since Mike clearly has an interest in helping out there. Primefac (talk) 14:05, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
I've dropped Module:College color/data to ECP and have put it on my watchlist to monitor for a while to see how it goes. Based on the edits, I agree that I've struggling to justify a need for the userright due to the concentrated nature of the edits. Sohom (talk) 15:19, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
It seems extremely unwise to me to reduce the protection of a module with that many uses. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:29, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
Fair, though my rationale here is that most of the run-of-the-mill vandalism will not be able to reach it with ECP. If we can't keep the module open, giving Mike the rights seems like a generally low risk thing in this context since they do appear to be interested in contributing. Sohom (talk) 23:22, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
I am interested in continuing to contribute in this area.
That said, I might not always know the best route to take. In such cases, my default action is "don't break things." This might be why I don't have more edits in the template/module space since temporary rights were granted in November. (Honestly, I was surprised that I mainly only had edits to the one sports color module. I thought I had more than that, but I do trust the edit history.) --MikeVitale 00:06, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Done for another three months, which should resolve any of the issues raised above. Primefac (talk) 11:13, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

I often am part of anti-vandalism patrolling. Sometimes, I notice very similar edits in succession after a temporary account is blocked, often the same user. As such, TAIV would be helpful to see if this information is true or not for a given user and if they are using multiple TAs for socking. I understand the terms to gaining/losing this permission and agree to use the permission solely for constructive purposes and to abide by the WMF's rules regarding this permission. thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 19:09, 5 February 2026 (UTC) thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 19:09, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I am requesting these permissions to support my involvement in anti-vandalism patrolling. I currently monitor the recent changes log for any vandalism attempts and am a member of the Counter Vandalism Unit. This tool would help me spot vandalism patterns and attempts that require further research more quickly, therefore expanding my capabilities.

Here are some recent examples of quickly reverted vandalism attempts:
