Boon Ho Gary Goh (born 26 November, 1962) is an academic, educator, entrepreneur and writer based in Perth, Western Australia.[1][2][3] He has authored six books since 2007. Goh has also received multiple honorary professorship and Emeritus titles from various universities around the world including SABI University, South-West State University and California International Business University.[4] In 2002, Department of Justice and Attorney-General (Queensland) and Government of Queensland appointed Goh the Justice of the Peace of Queensland, Australia.[5][6]

Biography

Goh was born in 1962, in Singapore, to Singaporean parents. His father was a clerical worker and his mother was a house wife. Goh financed most part of his education while working part time because his father died due to a chronic condition during Goh's early teenage years. He attended Rangoon Road Secondary School where he completed his studies for Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education.[7] Goh received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic. He also attended City and Guilds of London Institute where he received his Full Technological Certificate in Electrical Engineering in 1983. In 1990, Goh graduated from University of Dubuque with a Master of Business Administration degree. Goh received his Doctor of Business Administration degree as well as Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Victoria University in 2002 and 2014 respectively.[7][3]

Goh started his professional career as an instructor in the early 1980s, in Dubuque, Iowa, to finance his university education.[7] He has held positions of Executive Director and Consultant of multiple government and non-governmental organizations including Australian Corporate Consultants, Australian Certificated Auditors Agency, Department of Health (Australia), Australian Quality Training Consultants, Department of Education and Training (Australia), Australian Institute of Certified Practising Trainers, Police Department and Civil Aviation Safety Authority.[8][6] Goh has also held important offices at Australian Institute of Trainers and Assessors, Certified Management Consultants, National Institute of Australia, Australian LifeSkills College, Institute of Mindfulness and Study Tour International.[5][2] During 1990s, Goh has been among the Senior Management Team of major companies of Singapore including CWT Limited, M1 Limited, MAE Engineering and National University Hospital.[9][10] Between 2013 and 2016, Goh worked to raise the quality of education among Indigenous Australian students while working with Marr Mooditj Training Inc.[10] In 2014, with Goh's involvement, the institution was bestowed with the National Australian Training Award as well as the Western Australia Small Training Provider of the Year Award.[11]

Goh is known as the pioneer in the field of life skills-based education in Australia. He has developed numerous life and social skills programs such as The Australian LifeSkills, Create a successful life, Discovering your true self, Happiness@Work, Mind Power and others.[4] In 2015, Goh worked with The Federation of Western Australian Police and Community Youth Centers Inc. in evolving the development skill programs for the cops and learners at risk.[9]

In 2007, Goh authored his first book on business management, Applied MBA Management by Application. The book was published by Pennsylvania-based self-publishing company, Dorrance Publishing Company. His second book, Life Lessons was published by Rose Dog Books in 2017. Life Lessons is a motivational skill development book based on life skills. By mid-2019, Goh published six books on business and motivational skill development.[12]

In 2012, the Australian Institute of Certified Practising Trainers awarded Goh with the Honorary fellowship for his contribution in the education and business field.[2] In 2014, Goh was awarded with Honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree by California International Business University. In 2015, South-West State University recognized Goh's work in global education and awarded him with Honorary Doctor of Education degree. France-based SABI University awarded Goh with honorary professorship as well as Emeritus title in 2016 for his contribution in business education.[7]
