J. E. Houck and Sons farm cattle included various world record holders. In 1950, 12-year-old Holstein cow Re-Echo May Burke set the milking record for a cow over 10 years old, with 35,314 pounds of milk containing 1,260 pounds of fat and a 3.57 test. It also qualified for the fat record for a Canadian Holstein over 10. Of the two other cows of that age to pass the 1000 pound mark, one was owned by Houck's father.[2] In 1961, Houckholm Corrine Gall set a Canadian milk production record of "24,363 pounds of milk and 834 pounds of fat as a 3-year-old over a 305-day test period.[3] A 1955 reference lists the operation as Hallward and Houck.[4]
