A quick heads-up[edit]

Hello. I came across your edits while on RC Patrol. I just wanted to let you know that Baptist Church is a redirect to Baptist. You don't need to change "Baptist", as that is already pointing to the correct article. Happy editing! (talk) 11:13, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm wondering why you're changing "Baptist" to "Baptist Church" but not changing other religions to include the word "church". I was raised Baptist. Every Baptist I know, when asked their religion, would reply "Baptist." They wouldn't reply "Baptist Church". Since Baptist is already the main article, there is no need to point wikilinks (that already point to the main article) to point to a redirect instead.. (talk) 11:19, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I would have written Baptism, but that has, unlike other cases, double meaning. -- (talk) 11:21, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
"RC Patrol" is Recent changes patrol. It means I'm checking Special:RecentChanges. (talk) 11:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. But again: In other articles, the religion of a VIP (particularly politician) is written, for e.g. as "Judaism" and not "Jew" or "Atheism" and not "Atheist". -- (talk) 11:28, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
I fully understand Methodist to Methodism, for example. In fact, Methodist is a redirect to Methodism. With the Baptist religion, however, the proper name of the religion is "Baptist". That's why the name of the article is Baptist, and Baptist Church is relegated to the role of being only a redirect. If a link already points to the main article, it shouldn't be changed to point to a redirect. (talk) 11:34, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, isn't "Baptism" okay though? -- (talk) 11:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

(unindent) LOL! No, as you said, that has another reason. "Baptist" is one of those words that doesn't follow the normal rules for suffixes. English can be funny like that. The proper name of the religion is "Baptist." (talk) 11:38, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
