- See the ref I added to the article: Burchfield, Joe D. (1990), Lord Kelvin and the Age of the Earth, Chicago: University of Chicago Press, p. 43, ISBN 978-0-226-08043-7. In 1862 he estimated the maximum age at 400 million year; in 1897 his ultimate estimate was 20-40 million year.
