Edit summaries[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. 220 of Borg 11:36, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Advice[edit]

As a former IP editor, I have nothing against them. However, when you make huge changes to a page where you have a conflict of interest, as this IP links back to Singapore Polytechnic(SP), and can't be bothered to communicate with other editors I can see why IP editors are sometime not trusted!

I note that you removed the many links to the 120 or so sporting/cultural clubs etc. But you restored all the other many unnecessary and in-text links including those in section headings which are not in accord, as far as I know, with the WP manual of style.

You may think you are helping the SP by doing this, but what do you think will happen if the mass media sees edits that could be seen as promotional? That won't be good for the SPS reputation will it. Keep in mind that the SP page is not the property of SP to edit as they see fit. See wp:OWN about this.

Note also that trying to keep non-encyclopaedic wp:Link farm on the page is regarded as wp:Edit warring, and may result in a wp:block on this and any related IPS.

So how about telling us what is going on? 220 of Borg 11:36, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Un-sourced content[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Singapore Polytechnic, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. 220 of Borg 10:34, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Adding promotional material[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Singapore Polytechnic. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Please take note of the advice in the section above! Nick Levine (talk) 10:36, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Un-constructive edits[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Singapore Polytechnic. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.
exclamation mark- Removing properly formatted references without giving a really good reason, and doing it multiple times is at very least disruptive. 220 of Borg 11:03, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

May 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Denisarona. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Barack Obama presidential primary campaign, 2008 without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!
