The donation of Constantine was a forged one and those who talked about it were murdered by popes. Thus nobody can believe that the Elder/ bishop of Rome had a state in Italy or Vatican because up to the period of Charlemagne the Popes had to seek ways to save themselves from persecution, internal struggles and calamities. Title "Pope" was self-declared in 600 AD by Gregory the Great who became bishop, as a hereditary business, after all his secular offices. People write (auto)biographies when they be come great and notable only. But they do not write there past hard days of starvation and illnesses because of amnesia characteristic of great positions. Such is the case with the origin of the Vatican state and the grand rule of the popes from the beginning of Christianity. Bluffs from any tongue is to be left at the door of Besprukhana.
