I looked up the reference to the part in your entry about the son of Benjamin Broomhall reading to him an article from the Times newspaper as he lay on his deathbed. Your entry suggests that the newspaper had said that an agreement had been signed that would bring an end to the opium trade within 2 yrs. I looked up the date given for Mr. Broomhalls' death (29 May 1911) on the www.google.com search engine and clicked on the link to the www.timelines.ws website. Apparently, the article in the Times newspaper indicates the opposite i.e. that an agreement had been signed that would enable the opium trade to flourish.
