Belated Happy New Year with a Toast![edit]

float

Here's a toast to the host
Of those who edit wiki near and far,
To a friend we send a message, "keep the data up to par".
We drink to those who wrote a lot of prose,
And then they whacked a vandal several dozen blows.
A toast to the host of those who boast, the Wikipedians!

Xscape (album)[edit]

I found out that 125.198.46.132 did the vandalism on the album article. If I would have known about it, I would have fixed it. Thanks for the fix in the article. Stco23 (talk) 00:34, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Instant-runoff voting[edit]

I see that you're a Bernie supporter, which indicates to me that you would support fair voting reform. The Wikipage: Instant-runoff voting.

For the group fighting for it, check out: http://www.FairVote.org.

To see why it's necessary, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqblOq8BmgM.

It's supported by the Green Party: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb7MQ7da6sg.

Suggestions:

  • Twitter
  • Everywhere
  • Post a sign in your front yard that says, "The USA needs Instant-Runoff Voting!"

Binomial nomenclature[edit]

Hi HapHaxion, thanks for adding the correct template to the Platyrhynchus disambiguation page. The genera listed were both synonyms for the same genus name. However, when the term is used as a species or subspecies epithet (lower case) , it is never used by itself but only as part of the full binomial or trinomial term (such as Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus or Catostomus platyrhynchus. Further, some epithets (eg. alba or occidentalis) may be used by hundreds of species and it is incorrect to refer to the organism solely by that term. Tagbombing[edit]

Hi, just as an FYI sticking a bunch of tags on an article shortly after it was created is not normally good form for working with new pages like you did at here. At the time you placed the tags, the article was in categories and it didn't need to be copyedited. I'm unsure if it was orphaned at the time, but it isn't now. Generally it is better to stick to the bigger issues with the article. In this case: the article had no references. You can also add the generic stub template if you don't know the exact type of stub it is. I've gone ahead and cleanned up the article and will search for sources. Thanks for the work trying to patrol new pages. I would suggest reading WP:NPP before you do it any further, and then possibly get some more experience patrolling recent changes first or doing work with WP:CVU. That will help you learn more about Wikipedia's content policies and make new page patrolling easier. Feel free to reach out for help! TonyBallioni (talk) 15:43, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Gotcha. Will try and be a bit less tag-happy with the new articles I find. Appreciate the feedback! HapHaxion (talk) 20:17, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
