Zodiac[edit]

Please do not add the information back to the Zodiac article. You must be promoting it because you fail to see why no one would care especially since you didn't bother to cut to the chase and state who she thinks it is. Further, the work appears to be a self-published vanity piece on CreateSpace which is not considered a reliable source. Thank you,

By the way, Dennis Rader was in Japan from 1968-70 during some of the Zodiac killings. The only AFB base on the west coast to sell Wingwalker shoes was Vandenberg AFB (the other two locations were Naval bases).

Hi there,

I am a retired detective and recently wrote a book about the Zodiac, revealing his identity. Before I released the book I emailed an investigator the info out in Kansas because he investigated and wrote a book on the suspect. He is apparently very concerned about my book and maybe that he never linked his suspect to the Zodiac but either way, he continues to change my update and refers to me as deputy (a demotion in the cop world), erases my content, and plugs his own book. I would like him or his associates to not be allowed to edit my contribution.

Can you help,

Thanks

Kim McGath

Even if others were plugging their books on that article, that's no excuse for you to plug yours. I have removed the spam you added. Huon (talk) 16:48, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Please read the following; it's important.

Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest guidelines, WP:COI for short, address the inherent problems that arise when individuals and organizations edit Wikipedia articles about themselves or their products. Please read that entire policy; there will be a quiz. You have identified yourself as the author of a book about the Zodiac case, and therefore you must abide by WP:COI in articles about that subject. What this means, specifically, is as follows:

  1. You cannot edit those articles yourself, except to make these non-controversial edits.
  2. If you would like content added, removed, or changed in any of those articles, you should make a request to that effect on the article's talk page. One or more unconflicted editors will review your proposal. If it is acceptable, the requested changes will be made; if not, they will state their reasons for declining to make the changes. Discussion can then ensue, when necessary.
  3. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for promoting personal projects.
  4. Please post a formal Declaration of interest here, if you plan to continue contributing to articles about the Zodiac case or your book. See this example.
  5. If you continue to add or change content -- particularly when it is promotional in nature -- to articles in which you have a COI, as you have done recently on multiple occasions at the Zodiac Killer article, you will draw the ire of a WP administrator, and probably an editing block as well.

That's it. Please take the time to read WP:Welcome to Wikipedia and WP:Five pillars. Armed with that basic information, you will be well prepared to help improve articles in a non-promotional manner, using reliable third-party verifiable sources. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message here (I've put your user page on my watch list), or on my talk page. Again, welcome, and happy editing.
