They aren't the same Hindi. The article is about Modern Standard Hindi (Manak Hindi), whereas the census covers Hindi in a broader sense. The encyclopedia you just cited goes by the number who call their language "Hindi", which is neither one nor the other. This has been discussed many many many times, and it appears that no-one knows how many people speak Manak Hindi today. — kwami (talk) 20:29, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
