Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. DanielRigal (talk) 21:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

July 2009[edit]

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Butt (Asian surname), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. -- Max Duchess (talk) 11:05, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Information.svg Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Ainu people. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. I've reverted your edits, the stuff is too controversial and even unlikely to expect other people to find sources that you don't seem able to find. Dougweller (talk) 05:57, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

August 2009[edit]

Information.svg Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Baptist. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. I have reverted your edits to this page. The edits are unsourced, non-neutral, and significantly controversial. These appear to be the same type of uncited edits this IP made in July to Ainu people that were reverted. - Novaseminary (talk) 21:47, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Nuvola apps important.svg Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Immigration to Chile. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Despite being repeatedly asked at various template pages, you have never provided a single source for the presence of Vietnamese, Iranians, etc. in Chile. cab (talk) 10:51, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

The articles you refer to were deleted because they were completely unverifiable, and also non-notable. We cannot properly write and maintain articles about such small immigrant populations. These pages simply become a target for hoaxers to insert all sorts of false material. "Communities" of 174 Pakistanis or eleven Vietnamese are far too small to attract anything but the most trivial attention from journalists. So Wikipedia does not include such material. And they certainly don't qualify as a "wave of immigration" like you stated (diff).
I read Spanish well enough to notice that es:Inmigración a Chile's section about alleged Afghan, Pakistani, etc. migration has no sources whatsoever. The content about Afghans was inserted by an anonymous editor who didn't make reference to any book or newspaper article(diff). The claims of "five thousand" Indians and Pakistanis contradict the census data. The "source" claiming 800,000 Arabs (of all national origins, not just Palestinians) is a BLOG [1] ... flagrant violation of Wikipedia's reliable sources policy. cab (talk) 10:36, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
