Regarding this edit: this issue is covered at length in File sharing and the law. That is the correct place for extensive discussions of legality. Any kind of claim about legality should be backed up with reliable sources such as court cases and the text of laws. "A few Q and A sites and messageboards" are not adequate as sources for Wikipedia articles.
In point of fact, much of what you wrote is wrong. As the famous Betamax case said, as reaffirmed by MGM v. Grokster, merely providing a product that can easily be used for illegal activity is not itself illegal. LimeWire is not illegal; using it to download files illegally is.
