Another young Romanian player to Belgium

Hey, AL! We had a quite exciting transfer window here in Romania. After Marin (Standard), Toșca (Betis) and Adi Popa (Reading), another player transferred abroad on the last day of the transfer window. Dorin Rotariu was bought by Club Brugge KV. His page is really messy and doesn't have any stats about his career.

Amigo, sobre o Iago Aspas, qual sua opinião: quando ele encerrou seu empréstimo ao Sevilla, havia uma cláusula de compra obrigatória, mas no mesmo dia ele foi vendido de volta do Celta. Foi uma mera questão contratual do empréstimo. Sendo assim, e com essas informações contatas na história, na minha opinião não precisa constar na caixa. Concorda? Acontece que um "abençoado" resolveu fazer disso uma guerra. É praticamente a única edição que ele faz no WP há tempos. Está de birra. Qual sua opinião/sugestão? Agradeço.

• O Villas-Boas fez a fase de grupos da Champions em 2011-12 e o primeiro jogo contra o Nápoles. Foi despedido a 4 de Março e não consta na lista dos treinadores vencedores da Champions.

• O Giuseppe Materazzi iniciou a época 1999-2000 no Sporting. Fez 2 jogos no campeonato mas foi despedido em Setembro. Não há quaisquer registos de ele ser campeão em Portugal, em detrimento do Inácio que acabou a época.

• O Otto Glória começou a época 1969-70 no Benfica mas não a terminou. Quem conquistou a Taça de Portugal foi o José Augusto. Não há qualquer referência do Otto Glória ter ganho este título.

• Na Segunda Liga Portuguesa há n casos de treinadores que começam a época e são despedidos a meio e não se encontram registos que foram campeões. Quim Machado foi campeão no Tondela; o José Pinto não. O Toni Oliveira foi campeão no Moreirense; o Vítor Oliveira não. O Marco Silva foi campeão no Estoril e o Vinícius Eutrópio não.

"Allerhand" can have different meanings. If it is used as adjective like in "allerhand Dinge" it means "all kinds of things". If it is used alone like in this case, it can mean something like "that's pretty steep" or "crass", it's an expression of indignation. In this case it is also used as a pun as you assumed, because as "allerhand" is a composition of "all" and "hand" and the first goal should have been invalid because the ball was played with the hand by a Leipzig player. Ah, that makes sense. Probably better to go with the actual date, though. Less likely to confuse folks or have your edit appear vandalism-ish on first glance. Especially because not everyone checking the edit will actually be familiar with the dates on which the various rounds in various sports and such end. (There's a couple of vandals out there who love adding nonsensical states with often equally nonsensical update dates, and since you're editing as IP you're already somewhat more likely to have your edits summarily reverted as 'vandalism'--not fair, but since a lot of vandals do edit as IPs, nonetheless understandable) Thanks for answering so quickly, by the way! Spanish bio article trims

Thanks for the heads up. I agree they are probably a bit long (although they are undeniably notable people so there is no maximum limit for the article size if editors make the effort to find the info), and they are quite bare for the refs but I ask you to bear in mind that a lot of the unsourced info is from the BDFutbol stats, turning the numbers into words for a coherent summary of the career. A few weeks ago on another article you asked me not to use the stats themselves as a ref so I have avoided that, but I struggled to find any other media apart from unofficial blogs which I know also can't be used as reliable sources. For the information I included, I was almost 100% that it was true so it was a choice between adding it with the non-RS, adding it unsourced or not adding it at all. I suppose I'll wait to see what you cut and see if I can explain my thinking for keeping each thing if I think it should stay.

PS I also created Imanol Etxeberria about the same time (that's when I noticed Valencia was a tiny stub) as well as José Mari García so if you're in the mood you might want to look at them too.Crowsus (talk) 19:50, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the hard work on Rojo, looks good. I am gonna fiddle with the early years a little bit, according to the Athletic profile he went back to the Juvenil team before returning to Indautxu (compare this with José Beitia for example, who played with Bilbao Athletic in Tercera and his stats are listed, so if Rojo had been with that squad in 68 it would show it). The dates won't look great in the box but that is the correct timeline.

The Burgos link is here on BDfutbol but it doesn't matter unless you think it should be there. The Copa final, I just wanted to mention that they got there in addition to UEFA, but yes you're right, it just complicates it when he didn't play.

Sorry about the dashes, my phone and my work PC only seem to do the other kind. But I will go in those other articles tonight and change the symbol from the message you sent me, so hopefully that will be one less thing to need fixed.

Don't worry, I don't mind you editing the articles, I know very well that they need improvement and also that they are not 'my' articles, of course they are of interest to me and I took time to make them but I am trying not to be possessive of them. As I have said before, at times your tone in summaries is a bit... bossy? Maybe that's a good word. But equally I know my reactions can be a bit over defensive. I realise you have the best interests of the project at heart and I value the effort you have put in over many years to maintain the quality and accuracy of the articles. Thanks for José Mari work amongst others. Just to address the points from the removed stuff, I only mentioned the 'other' José Mari García because they played in the same position and weren't there at the same time, so to someone looking at the stats (who? Why? Maybe nobody would ever care) it may look like the same player. And for Stosic, the source did mention they had a 'good relationship' in addition to playing together. But I agree it doesn't really matter, if you didn't think it's worth having in I'm certainly not going to disagree. Re: Juve, etc.

Hi! I hope you're doing well! I'm really glad we managed to overcome an opponent like Barcelona and that our defence managed to obtain two clean sheets against such a strong offensive line; it's great to be in the semifinals again! Having said that, although we were very organised at the back and in our counterattacks, we were so wasteful when we got forward and frequently our players made the wrong decisions with their passes and runs in the final third, which was quite frustrating, and if we want to have a chance of winning the trophy against the other strong teams (which is still a dream for now), then we need to be more clinical, but credit definitely goes to Allegri for how he prepared the team, and for being able to find a winning system and consistent starting line-up; in spite of all the criticism he has faced because of the team's supposed unattractive playing style and poor performances at times, he has definitely managed to obtain some good results. I really don't know why Marchisio hasn't been playing to be honest, and I was asking myself the same question as to why he wasn't started in the second leg or at least brought on in the second half; I do know that Allegri has been saying that he hasn't quite been 100% fit after his injury and he wanted to rest him for the Champions League for the time being, and I suppose that while he has been recovering, Khedira and Pjanic as a double pivot in a 4–2–3–1 have worked quite well together in the Champions League, so I'm guessing that's why he continues to play them in Europe, while he's giving Marchisio more playing time in the league, which is less competitive, to refind his form I suppose. I guess if Pjanic is the creative midfield element then Khedira balances him out as the more defensive-minded midfielder, and I guess Allegri likes that formation as it has worked quite well in Europe so far; indeed Mandzukic, with his versatility and work-rate has proved to be quite valuable on the left flank, even though he is a rather unorthodox winger (I admit, when he first fielded him in that position I didn't know what he was thinking, but Mandzukic has proved to be quite valuable in that position), and Cuadrado's workrate, skill and speed allow him to cover the right wing and also make him an additional threat going forward, while Dybala seems more dangerous in a free role behind Higuain, where he can make late runs when Higuain drops deep to pick up the ball and hold it up with his back to goal. Still, if Marchisio is fit, I think he deserves to start, especially as he offers a lot in terms of both quality and quantity, as well as leadership and experience at Juve, and he has been an undisputed starter when fit for both club and country since 2008. He's also so talented and well-rounded, which is why I've always liked him: he has good creative abilities and technical skills, but is also still quite quick, hard-working, and solid defensively, while he isn't a bad striker of the ball, even though he doesn't get forward or score as much as he used to. If he's fit I might even consider starting him over Pjanic, who has been a bit inconsistent at times, even though statistically he has performed quite well; some games he has been fantastic, while in others he has been average and drifted in and out. Still, I suppose Pjanic can suddenly change a match with his accuracy from free kicks or his ball delivery from set pieces (I didn't think he had an amazing game, although he was decent, against Barcelona, but it was his delivery from a corner which led to Chiellini's goal; Marchisio isn't a bad corner taker, but not quite at Pjanic's level!), and he is the better playmaker, although not quite as good defensively as Marchisio, and out of the blue he can offer a beautiful pass like the one to Higuain last night. I guess Allegri has been bringing on energetic players like Lemina and Rincon and Asamoah to close down matches (Marchisio could also play the box to box role, but maybe he can't move quite as much now), although I don't know why Sturaro hasn't been playing; I know he did have a few bad matches in the group stage (some bad touches which led to a loss of possession, as he isn't necessarily the most talented player, but he works hard), and has also made some rash chellenges and picked up unnecessary cards, so maybe he fell out of favour with Allegri because of those reasons, but I agree that Lemina and Rincon don't seem to be better players than Sturaro (I was surprised by the latter's purchase in January, although he has been playing fairly well in Italy, so I suppose he does provide some energy and needed depth when we make changeovers for league and domestic cup games). Sturaro does have more experience than them in Europe and performed quite well in the Champions League in the last two seasons, when we put on some encouraging performances. I also think he makes better decisions and is less selfish on the ball, whereas Lemina is more skilful but less tactically intelligent; he has also been a bit selfish at times and lost possession trying to be flamboyant by holding on to the ball and trying to get bast players instead of finding an open teammate, which has annoyed me at times, as I don't like unecessary risks or showboating, unless they are one of those handful of superstar players that can perform in those situations.

I don't think that Sturaro and Marchiso's exclusion is because they're Italian to be honest...in the past two seasons they both got quite a lot of playing time when healthy, and they did have competition from quite a few good midfielders, like Pirlo, Pogba, Vidal, and also other solid players such as Pereyra and Asamoah on the bench. Our defence is also predominantly composed of Italian players, although they are older players. Yes, I know we don't quite fully agree on that, but you're right that in several leagues there isn't enough being done to develop young domestic talent or give them opportunities to grow and gain experience. I do like how the Bosman ruling gave players more power, rights, and freedom, and less restrictions, and also how it allowed players from other countries to have more opportunities and play anywhere and not be discriminated against, but I do agree that sometimes young players don't always get enough opportunities, as at times more talented and experienced foreign players are preferred to them as in they will provide better short term results, and I do wish teams in all leagues would try and look at the future more and develop their young domestic talents and let them gain experience; maybe the Spanish system is beneficial as the youth teams play in the lower divisions. At least Milan and Sassuolo seem to be making some progress in that area and have some interesting players (although others have also disappointed or are inconsistent at the top level); Roma was focussing on several young Italian players, but unfortunately I think a lot of them have been injured or fizzled out into nothing (like Destro, and El Shaarawy unfortunately doesn't seem to be the talented player he looked like he was going to become), or have been sold (like Romagnoli), and one of their best young Italian players, Florenzi, is also injured at the moment. Juve did have some interesting young players, but unfortunately others haven't quite turned out to be as good as we had hoped; unfortunately some players just can't handle the pressure or don't work hard enough, or are extremely unfortunate with injuries. When speaking of wasted potential, someone like Cassano from Italy definitely springs to mind, but we also had a wonderful talent like Morfeo, who is the same age as Totti and initially seemed to be the superior player as a youngster, but his character and injuries prevented him from succeding at the top level (mind you, I also feel that Totti was somewhat a disappointment that he was never quite able to replicate the performances he showed at Euro 2000 in major tournaments after he led Roma to the Scudetto in 2001). Another issue is that in Italy there has always been the problem that coaches have been at times overly obsessed with tactics and systems, which is a good thing as it means we have produced several good managers, but I also feel that it has also hindered certain players from fully expressing their potential, in particular the more talented, creative or skilful ones, who might not be quite as physical, tactically disciplined or hard-working, however; I know that many pundits agree that if someone like Baggio had been born in Brazil, Spain, France, or Argentina, he probably could have reached even greater heights, because he would have always been started and played in his preferred role with the national side (it still infuriates me to think that he only played 56 games for Italy, that he never played in a European Championship, that he wasn't ever played as a true number 10, and that he wasn't given more space at Italia 90 and France 98). I do feel that the general lack of funding towards youth development has led to a decline in the overall quality of many leagues and international sides in recent years, which is always sad. I also wish that to some extent teams and leagues did have a salary cap as I feel the disparity between certain teams is excessive and makes the European club tournaments less exciting and competitive, but I think this is not something which can be easily fixed; a lot of the best foreign players in the world end up playing for the richest or biggest clubs in England or Spain (or for Bayern Munich or PSG), and usually it's the same teams that ultimately progress in European Competitions, although I suppose that has also often happened in the past, with a handful of teams encountering a victorious cycle and periods of great success (Liverpool were strong in the early 80s, then Juve in the mid 80s, then Milan and Barca in the late 80s/early 90s, then Juve in the mid-late 90s, then Real Madrid in the early 2000s, then Milan again, then Man United, then Barcelona, then Bayern, then Real, etc. and of course before then, Real Madrid in the 50s, Inter in the 60s, Ajax and Bayern Munich in the 70s); I really wish someone had an answer! Aside from a handful of international teams (mainly Spain and Germany, who have really focussed on developing their young talented players), I do feel that the more recent international tournaments have shown that there is a real lack of overall quality, and I think that if you compare the squads and players at Euro 2016 and the 2014 World Cup with those of Euro 2000 and the 1998 World Cup, that this decline is quite evident, although I suppose that my nostalgia might be an influencing factor, and teams do go through different periods of success and have had so-called "golden generations" at different times. I thought Italy had one of their weakest squads ever on paper at the Euros last year, but thankfully Conte really managed to create a united team and we were very organised, so we managed to put in quite a good performance, whereas in 1996 and 2004 we had excellent players but we were eliminated in the first round.

Yes, some fans are rather immature and are rarely able to be objective...I know they are considered to be the two best players of their generation, but I still think the whole Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo debate is silly at times, as although they are techncially both wingers, their playing styles are so different (personally I prefer Messi, mainly because I've always adored elite classic number 10s, and I suppose he is the player who most resembles one today, but I can acknowldege that Cristiano Ronaldo is also a world class player and en excellent goalscorer, although I do admit that I found him more entertaining at Manchester United, whereas now he has become more clinical and efficient, but less spectacular), and sometimes they have undeservedly won awards (in spite of their less decisive performances with their national sides; in my opinion Sjeider or Xavi deserved the Ballon d'or in 2010, Pirlo or Iniesta in 2012, Ribery or Robben in 2013, Di Maria in 2014, and Luis Suarez in 2016, but each of those editions were won either by Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo...). I also find it annoying how usually their team's performances are diminished because the media always focus on them. Yes, Cristiano Ronaldo deserves credit and praise for scoring a hat-trick against Bayern and for his movement and positioning, but his goals weren't exactly spectacular (even though he technically scored a perfect hat-trick), and aside from his goals I don't think his performance was amazing. Yes, Messi probably was the most productive player for an overall disappointing Barcelona against Juve, and created some of his team's best chances, but he also wasted a good chance in the first half of the second leg, and drifted in and out of the game at times. Still, they are fantastic players, and some of the greatest goalscorers, but I think attempts to classify one of them as the greatest ever are ridiculous, as football has changed so much, and I don't think players from different eras can really be compared. I was disappointed by the quality of the refereeing in the Bayern-Real Madrid game, as I like Ancelotti as a coach (even though his spell at Juve wasn't his most successful!) and always root for him, whereas I'm not really a fan of Zidane as a coach, even though he is getting results (and even when he played for Juve, as amazing as he was technically and creatively, I didn't always like him as much as some of our other players, and yes, this was long before the headbutting incident!); I know mistakes happen, and until video replay is introduced not much can be done, but it's a bit ridiculous that the linesman missed two offside calls on the goals and that no one saw that Vidal won the ball or thought to give him the benefit of the doubt considering the importance of the tie, and that no one deemed any Cesemiro's fouls or simulations to be bookable offences which would have resulted in his sending off when Vidal had been punished harshly, even though he is too rash at times...it's frustrating because decisions like that end up changing games, and I don't think Bayern Munich would have conceded so many goals if they had been at full strength. And I also think it would avoid the whole subsequent "your team are cheats" complains from opposing fans, something which Juventus fans often hear (although we have also been on the wrong end of bad decisions at times as well!).

Sobre a questão do André, de fato pensei que ele só havia sido emprestado e retornado logo em seguida. Mas se agora apareceu que ele ficou no banco de reservas (não vou duvidar de você do MYS77), a situação muda, já que ele foi registrado e inscrito. Desta forma, fica na caixinha a informação.

International goal charts

Hello. The user who creates those tables seems to be sourcing new ones properly now, from what I can tell from a few spotchecks. Obviously there will be quite a lot left that aren't yet properly sourced. What you do with any you come across is up to you: the best solution would obviously be to leave them in place and source them properly. Yes, it has been a wild season and a crazy weekend: Juve won a record sixth title and a third consecutive double, with a genuine millenial Kean scoring the match-winner against Bologna while another youngster Audero made his debut in goal (unfortunately I can't create his wiki page as I'm not an administrator); Totti played his final Roma game as the giallorossi clinched 2nd place, and Atalanta did well to qualify for Europe (they play well and have several promising Italian youngsters, like Torino and Sassuolo, who unfortunately didn't qualify this year however, despite the promising performances of several of their players) and Gomez has had an incredible season with 16 goals and 10 assists, so I'm glad to see he, Icardi and Dybala have been called up for Argentina's matches. Insigne also had another good season for Napoli which I'm glad about as he had so much potential but for a while it seemed like it would remain unfulfilled. Nice for Crotone to manage a comeback and stay in Serie A. I'm not sure what happened to Marchetti at Lazio; I know in the past he had some personal struggles, some I'm wondering if he's facing similar issues. I hope he's ok as he was a great keeper. Now, as a Juve fan, I really, REALYY want us to win the Champions League title next Saturday, especially after the disappointment from two years ago, and considering Real have won it several times recently. It would be great after the past few seasons we have had and all the work the management has done to rebuild the team in the past decade after the scandal and some tough years, and several players of ours are very deserving of the title, mainly Buffon, but also Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci, and Marchisio, and it would even be nice for someone like Higuain to win a major international trophy after coming so close so often, or a promising youngster like Dyabala! In addition to the aforementioned key Italian players who have been around for a while, I feel like we made some important transfers this year following Pogba's sale: getting someone as experienced and as technically gifted as Dani Alves for free, who can attack on the right flank and provide better balls for the forwards, has really helped us in Europe (while Lichsteiner has still done well domestically), and buying a good striker like Higuain, who scores a lot and who can decide matches or link up and hold up the ball, as well as a skilful playmaker like Pjanic, and a few more good players like Benatia and Cuadrado (and even a warrior work-horse like Rincon who can run and press in league matches, along with Sturaro) to add depth to the team also really helped this season; the fact that we still have someone like Khedira also helps a lot with his experience and intelligence, while Dybala and Sandro have flourished (even Rugani has done well when used), and Mandzukic with his work-rate, versatility, experience and intelligence has been so impressive even when being played out of position out wide and further back; so many of those players have won important titles, and that really helps. Allegri has also done a great job even though he has been criticised at times for being boring or scraping out results when we should be playing better against certain teams; his record can't be argued against, and at times his tactics were brilliant as shown by our versatility in the way we changed formations when attacking or defending. I really hope we can do it, especially as it's been such a long time since we've been so competitive in Europe and it's been over 20 years since we won the Champions League title, although unfortunately football is not always fair. Yeah that goal is a big confidence booster for a young player like Kean, even though it's already been an exciting year with his Serie A debut and Champions League debut. He's still young so we will have to see how he turns out but he seems talented, so I hope he does well. Yes, Totti's loyalty has to be admired, even though at times his behaviour wasn't exemplary, but then again the club didn't always treat him so well. It will be strange not seeing him play; such a great talent in his prime, with some of the best vision I've ever seen, even though he didn't quite reach his full potential with Italy in my opinion. Yeah, Dani Avles has been great after a bit of a rough start with his injury, etc. I hope he can pull off another great Champions League performance in the final, and that all of our players can be at their best and pull off a great victory. Hi, anonymous. About your edit on Omar Oreste Corbatta, you stated "We don't use numbers in honours".... (who tell this?; all the articles marked as "good articles" in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football list the number of honours); 2) "Winger" is a specific forward position (Garrincha position on the field refers as "winger", in fact the same position where Corbatta played; the position is also familiarly known as "number 7" in Argentina); 3) Next time, try to make constructive edits before reverting good faith editions. And don't be so arrogant when you explain them in the edit summary.

Cool, I hope it wasn't because of me that you packed it in. You have a lot of good stuff to contribute so I hope you find enjoyment in it again. Maybe have a look at what you're working on and see if there's something you can ignore to reduce the workload e.g players from a certain country? I dunno how much you watch and update but must be a lot, I only really do a few Scottish players, a few Basques and a few random others but even then it feels like a lot to get through when you haven't checked anything for a week or so and find that neither has anyone else except vandals and random IPs only doing half of the work.
