July 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Len Carney, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. GiantSnowman 16:22, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Len Carney. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. The sources you have indicated do not confirm the information you have added, and saying "I'm a family member, it's true" is not enough, I'm afraid - how can we verify that information? GiantSnowman 18:03, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

I have no idea how you can verify it. He was a minor player and does not merit a full biography. (Even if I wrote a biography of him, that would not make it true!) I agree; that is a problem for Wikipedia. (Even what was there before I added anything seems to have been based upon another webiste which may ro may not be true.) How can you ever know what is true? It my be that my father was not really my father; and that his brother was not really his brother. But it is what they believed all their lives, and how can one say it is not true either?

Yes, the other website may be untrue, but it is still a source which is used to verify information, until alternative sources can be found. Regards, GiantSnowman 09:35, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Norwegian links with Israel removed[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to 2011 Norway attacks, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. hydrox (talk) 14:16, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Dagbladet is a reputable source

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Portal:Current events/2011 July 23. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. TheRetroGuy (talk) 17:38, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Am not clear why I am blocked. I seem to be 'accused' of being aa42john. Well yes, I am - or was! What is the problem? I have been contributing to Wikipedia for many years & seem to be getting bumped off. {Redacted}  :) JB

Redacted a remark about conspiracies among WP contributors. AGK [] 22:01, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Per Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aa42john, this IP address has been blocked (for 20 days) because it is being used by Aa42john (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • nuke contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log) to evade his indefinite block. May 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Whitwell, North Yorkshire do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Mild Bill Hiccup (talk) 13:20, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Rose window. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Mild Bill Hiccup (talk) 13:27, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
