WikiCup 2016: Game On![edit]

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:03, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, can I interest you and page stalkers in participating in April? Up to £200 in Amazon vouchers and books up for grabs.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:03, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: Thanks for the heads up – I'll definitely try to work on a few articles! 97198 (talk) 13:20, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Great, sign up in the Participants in the contest section at the bottom of the page! If you want to win the prize put your name in the the contest section rather than editathon one. If you're happy creating a few this month which won't count in points and next month for the contest you can of course add your name to both sections! Good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:22, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Dragon contest[edit]

Hi, thanks for the Meena article. Do you want to enter the contest or simply contribute as a participant? Please put your name down for which you want to contribute to on the Dragon main page. If it's just a few articles as part of Women in Red then participants section. Cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:01, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: My name is down as a non-contest participant. I'm not sure I'll have a lot of time to create articles this month but I'll try and fit in a few. :) 97198 (talk) 12:09, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your continued work. I was wondering if you could scour the list on the main dragon page and add any missing ones to List of Welsh women. As they're started they need to join that list to make as comprehensive as possible! If you could take care of that throughout the month this would be a great help. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:35, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: No worries, I'd be happy to. 97198 (talk) 09:38, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Margareta Suber[edit]

Would you please see if you can clean up the citation I put under Further reading? Sorry, but I don't use these academic templates much, and am unfamiliar with the protocol.
I thought it a very worthy effort on your part, and did tick the DYK. Cheers. 7&6=thirteen () 21:05, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/Margareta Suber Would you please look at my rewording of the hook in ALT 1. Thank you. 7&6=thirteen () 00:38, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the review. The citation template looks okay to me, although I don't think I've ever used the {{cite thesis}} one before. 97198 (talk) 08:23, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
If you are OK with ALT1, please voice your concurrence on the nomination page. I assume you are, but at WP:DYK one can never assume. Thanks. 7&6=thirteen () 08:33, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2016[edit]

As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:41, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 16[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nora Grossman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Graham Moore (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge[edit]

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 article improvements by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:47, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
