Page protection[edit]
Sorry about that - there was a recurring troll who had returned, and it usually takes about a day for him to go away again. When issuing blocks to (his) floating IPs, I often use a block length of 31 hours: about a day's block, but enough to keep him from coming back at the exact same time the next evening. When placing a block, admins can select a block length from a drop-down dialog box, or type in an arbitrary value. For the reason stated, '31 hours' is actually one of the standard block lengths in the drop-down box.
When I placed the page protection, I wasn't paying close enough attention and expected 31 hours to be in the drop-down box right after 1 day, just as it is for the blocking panel. I inadvertantly selected 3 days, instead.
For the future, you might find the benefits of creating an account attractive; see Wikipedia:Why create an account? Cheers! TenOfAllTrades(talk) 13:49, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
