Welcome + tips

Welcome to Wikipedia, AKhani84

I though it would be helpful if I would explain one or two of Wikipedia rules to you to improve your edits.

  1. Wikipedia:No original research: This means everything you add should be based on reliable references and you can't add info which you think is correct, but this not mentioned in the references.
  2. Wikipedia:Neutral point of view: Means representing fairly, proportionately, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. For example you can't call protesters "rioters" or "vandals" even if a reference does that. Instead you could still use the term "vandals", but explain who's is saying it and referring to who by it. For example if Gulf Daily News said that you could say:
  1. Wikipedia:Citing sources: When you use references, don't just use bare links. You should try to use full citations as much as possible. Here is an example:

<ref name="MOI Twit 6.1.2012">{{cite news | author=[[Staff writer]] | title = MOI statement regarding arrest of Nabeel Rajab | date=6 January 2012 | publisher=[[Ministry of the Interior (Bahrain)]] | url = https://twitter.com/#!/moi_bahrain/status/155365814185377793 | accessdate=6 January 2012}}</ref>

For video citation: <ref>{{cite video |date=17 March 2011 |title=دماء بسيارة بهية العرادي برصاص الجيش |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXtp4OMx7qY |language=Arabic |location=Al Qadam, Bahrain}}</ref>

For report citation: <ref name="bici">{{cite report |title=Report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry |publisher=Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry |url=http://files.bici.org.bh/BICIreportEN.pdf |date=23 November 2011}}</ref>{{rp|page=143}}

Of course if a link is already used before, you only need to mention the reference name: <ref name="bici"/>

I hope this helps improve your edits. Bahraini Activist (talk) 09:56, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Libya and WP:NOTAFORUM

[edit]

Hey, WP:NOTAFORUM really means that it's just not something we discuss on Wikipedia, in terms of what we think about X or Y as opinions. Talk is for discussing the article itself and how to improve it, as well as resolving content disputes, not for just acting as a general forum for our opinions about various issues in the world today. You will probably have to look elsewhere for substantive discussion on whether or not Libya should hold a referendum on the matter in question. Hope that helps. Cheers. -Kudzu1 (talk) 17:05, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
