January 2011[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. - 220.101 talk\Contribs 07:39, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable source?[edit]

I have started a discussion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Is "Zurf Military Aircraft" a reliable source for the "Free Libyan Air Force?" as to whether that website is a reliable source per Wikipedia guidelines. Are you the publisher/author of the site, or did you just decide to use a related name as your username? Please respond at the thread I mentioned. Thanks. Edison (talk) 22:15, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are still citing your website as a reference in Wikipedia articles, I have reopened a discussion about whether your website qualifies as a reliable source at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Zurf Military Aircraft. Thanks. Edison (talk) 18:19, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing your contributions[edit]

Per WP:SPS I will be removing all of your URLs from the articles which have them, and I will be adding fact tags in their place. I will also remove any speculative comments and opinions that clearly came from you. If you wish to keep these comments in the article, please cite a reliable, verifiable source. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 00:53, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I removed all the cites I could find to your website from English Wikipedia and from these other languages: Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Dutch and Japanese. I removed some of your more obvious conjectural statements about what might happen, and I tagged a bunch of other statements with the citation needed template.
Please cite standard news sources when you add information to articles—do not cite yourself. Also, please do not add conjecture, guessing about the future. Write only what is known, or what a notable person or organization says that they have planned. Binksternet (talk) 03:32, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

April 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (AircraftZurf) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Marcus Qwertyus 08:19, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
What can I do now?
You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. TNXMan 13:49, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
