Problem in default 2010 census citation in province articles.[edit]

Hello. The code {{PH census|2010}} in Sarangani (and other provinces) article in the historical populations box under Demographics section shows the source specific for regions instead of the generic/default source:

PSA; Census of Population and Housing (2010), Population and Annual Growth Rates for The Philippines and Its Regions, Provinces, and Highly Urbanized Cities (PDF), retrieved 29 June 2016

I tried purging the template and the Sarangani article, but it is still the same, so I do not know what causes the problem. If you could kindly fix the template to display the default source. Thanks. Sanglahi86 (talk) 11:35, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alice Zhang Mengping: I saw your fix at Sarangani, but what User:Sanglahi86 wants is to have the option to select the default reference, i.e. overriding the automatic regional reference. So, {{Philippine census reference}} should have an optional 2nd input, something like {{PH census|2010|default}}. I would like to see this as well. Can you please modify the template? Thank you. -- P 1 9 9   12:59, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind. Done. -- P 1 9 9   23:19, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

August 2016[edit]

it's John Martin Perry again.

Mr. John Martin Perry a.ka. User:Unbuttered Parsnip, I was wondering why you keep on reverting my edits when in fact you're not even from the Philippines? You argued that elections will be on October 2016 but we, certified and bona fide Filipinos, all knew that elections were over. It was during May 10, 2016. Thank you. WP:NOR WP:PRIMARY is the opposite of what you (and most pinoy editors) do. You mean only Chippendale can write about chairs?
Alice Zhang Mengping (talk) 10:29, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not disputing WP:NOR WP:PRIMARY, but still you have to discuss it with the talk page first before reverting edits. That's actually the primary reason you were blocked several times Mr. Perry/User:Unbuttered Parsnip. You don't WP:OWN pages, pls validate and discuss any disputed content first. Now, you're using this IP User:213.205.252.119. You even previously pretend to be User:Mary McAllen, an alleged sister of Parsnip, when in fact you are the same person. PH town table[edit]

Thank you for meticulously creating the most-needed Template:PH town table. If only you could add the documentation so that other users would know and understand the parameters. Sanglahi86 (talk) 11:30, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sanglahi86: I get it working properly before I document it. Alice 张梦平 18:04, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I know you are working on the template, but could you also consider adding the (hidden format, unsortable) coordinates (globe icon) beside the LGU names like in Abra, as well as the barangay count? Sanglahi86 (talk) 20:40, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple-editor ownership (WP:OWN)[edit]

PSGC detail reference[edit]

Hello. Could you please fix the template {{PSGC detail}} for cities and towns? For city and town articles, like Larena, adding {{PSGC detail}} gives the reference http://nap.psa.gov.ph/activestats/psgc/municipality.asp?muncode=076102000&regcode=07&provcode=61, but the PSGC page itself does not show the land area. The land area figures are instead shown on the province page like:

http://nap.psa.gov.ph/activestats/psgc/province.asp?provcode=076100000

If only it was possible to also use the province PSGC page for city and town articles, at least for citing land area. Thanks. Sanglahi86 (talk) 10:09, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Alice Zhang Mengping. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Template:PHxxx[edit]

Unfortunately the PH templates have become too complex. For example, search Cebu and see that the article is displaying many "The time allocated for running scripts has expired" errors. Cebu has 337 PHxxx templates such as {{PH legdist table bottom}} and {{PH town table}}, and those templates call many more subtemplates. Cebu and Bohol often show errors because they have reached the template limit. Do you have any suggestions for how the problem could be fixed? I think the templates need to be drastically simplified. Johnuniq (talk) 03:22, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where you find about template limit. I don't see how simplificate could we do. If fact need to be more complicated at the internals to make the user easier. When I started computed 50 years ago, early rules included "do not the 'compute' in COBOL as it's too expensive". I don't care. What did it mean "expensive". The only way to do a job probably was to use the best tools.
Since the articles are "compiled" only when changed, and the internal do not change often, the result should be less faster not slower.
Alice 张梦平 01:28, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your work, but we have to take Wikipedia the way it is, and that means templates cannot keep expanding. The templates will have to be simplified or removed from the articles which repeatedly show time-out errors. At the moment, Bohol and Cebu are free of errors, but Cebu is still showing in the error category. The complexity of the templates means that articles which use them are unduly slow to edit. For example, viewing the html source of Cebu and searching for "NewPP" shows timing information including "CPU time usage: 11.952 seconds" (that is how long it took the server to generate the html from the wikitext). That is far too much for a page like that and is due mainly to the PH_xxx templates. For example, this recent edit adds {{lrwhitearrow}} which requires yet another template expansion, but it is not needed. Johnuniq (talk) 04:21, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, these kind of numbers were abandoned at least two years ago. As I said, any use is only when the pages is changed, not when it is read.
If I could actually understand what are {{subst}} and {{safesubst}}, maybe it could make it quicker.
My laptop over a wifi internet has no problem.
Alice 张梦平 08:57, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
To see the problem, go to Cebu. Click "edit" at the top then "Show preview". When I do that it takes over 15 seconds for the server to generate the preview, and there are numerous "The time allocated for running scripts has expired" error messages near the bottom. Some experimenting would be needed to determine the major bottleneck. The NewPP report suggests it is {{PH wikidata}}. At any rate, if doing further edits to the PHxxx templates, please make sure it is to remove templates, not add them. Johnuniq (talk) 01:35, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you're talking about. I can't see anything on 'edit', nor 'show preview'. Also, I don't know what you're thinking of. Lua arrived at least 2 years ago. I don't know what you're beef is. I know you talk out of your huge hat. Alice 张梦平 02:10, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

It is obvious that user:82.203.24.241 and Alice Zhang Mengping are the same person with similar editing patterns. They frequently edit the same pages (e.g [1], [2], [3], [4]). I would like to note that there is nothing wrong with have multiple accounts but using them to create an illusion of support of a certain version using multiple accounts (as shown here) could lead to sock puppetry accusations. Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Unbuttered Parsnip, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community. Ssbbplayer (talk) 18:32, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
