Furthermore, a note to administrators: My user page and user talk page is protected from page moves. We still have a page move vandal running amok, and I don't see why anyone other than myself would need to move my User page. -- AllyUnion (talk) 23:41, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

Another tool problem[edit]

Thanks for fixing the link issue, and I missed that you hadn't designed the next/prev button functionality yet. Another problem though... [1] This file links to a 'File:Date=2010-08-14' over on Commons instead of the WP filename. --Stephen 22:59, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Looking for a comprehensive list of Wikipedia bots (and other info)...[edit]

Greetings! I hope this finds you well. I am a doctoral student at the University of Oregon, trying to learn as much as I can about all aspects of bots on Wikipedia (policies, uses, programmers, etc.). I've been reading through the talk:Bots archives all the way back from the beginning, and I've been cross referencing some of the bots that were discussed in the early days with the list maintained at Wikipedia:Bots/Status, though there are a number of older bots missing from that list. As I have seen your username prominently in the bot policy archives, I thought you might be able to help me with the following questions:

  • Is the list at Wikipedia:Bots/Status indeed the most comprehensive one currently maintained? I'd like to add the info I'm finding in the archives, but I want to add it to the appropriate and current listing, not an old, unused one.
  • Are there other pages that you'd recommend for learning about the history of bots on Wikipedia, as well as the development of the bot approval process? (I think I've found most of the obvious ones, but perhaps there are some less obvious ones?)
  • Is the list of bots that were denied approval the most comprehensive on that subject?
  • I know that users who want to create a bot should follow the procedures here, including seeking consensus in the "appropriate forums", but besides the Village Pump, is there a centralized place where users seek this approval?

Thank you in advance for your help with this. Eventually I am going to reach out to the entire population of bot operators and BAG members for interviews (which has been approved by the Wikimedia's my page). UOJComm (talk) 22:11, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

Notice of change[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

File:Wikifun round 5.jpg needs authorship information[edit]

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Wikifun round 5.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|AllyUnion}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If the image is clearly old enough to be public domain, but the exact sourcing or authorship is not easily determined, please consider placing {{subst:is-old|media type}} as the source and providing as much additional detail as possible.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:57, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
