Viet history[edit]

Thankyou for your contributions. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 01:02, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again, we have basically no coverage of Vietnamese history pre-Gia Long because no English language historians have written about them. A great help on Gia Long. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 08:39, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On wikipedia, titles aren't used so you don't need to add "Empress" in the page titles. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 04:01, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged your new articles with {{WPVN}} YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 05:06, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello thanks for your contributions to Vietnam. Please help remove han tu from other articles as one editor has been abusing and making pages difficult to read with his/her insertions. Thanks again! Any help would be appreciated!.Sea888 (talk) 15:15, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Err, you shouldn't quit, your English is fine. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 00:10, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want I can email you lots of sources in PDF. Including Dutton and McLeod from Gia Long. Hardly anything on Tay Son except the Quang Trung article YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 08:00, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removals[edit]

Thank you for your message. You are about the 20th in a long line of editors who remove Han tu from Vietnam-related articles before engaging in discussion rather than after. It's better to do so, thoroughly, before removing them. Badagnani (talk) 22:55, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please tell us more about your background with Han Tu. It seems there is only one(maybe two) editors whom fictitiously insert wrong Han Tu characters all over the Vietnamese articles. Thankfully you'd be of great help.Sea888 (talk) 14:51, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Hi, one of the reasons why I removed the source you cited was because it was initially not properly cited (Womack, Brantly (2006). Cambridge University Press. p. 182. ISBN 0521853206.) with no actual title of the book.--TheLeopard (talk) 16:10, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About Badagnani[edit]

Try to ignore Badagnani's comments about moving stuff into the talk page before removal. What he is asking is a violation of numerous policies and guidelines, and is strongly discouraged by essays like WP:DRNC and WP:BRD. So there's really little need to comply with his requests as there is no basis for them even though you have carefully explained every reason why you removed it. There's even an RFC several of us started about him due to this odd behavior, and others complain of similar problems with the editor. Just edit as much as you like and be bold! Rewrite Trieu Thi Trinh[edit]

Sure no problem. I'll just add in some the other sources I found. I was curious about this person when I was doing my research for the Three Kingdoms and the Sanguozhi mentioned about a rebellion in current day Vietnam against Wu forces. It mentioned about a rebellion being led by a woman who rode on an elephant. Lady Zhu Rong automatically pops into mind and I thought that Trieu might have been the basis for this fictional character. I went to a couple of Vietnamese history forums to ask for more info which was quite difficult as most people there was rather hostile given that I mentioned I was Chinese. Thank god User:DHN was very helpful in helping me locate more info.

Just curious though, do most Vietnamese Historians recognize the "naked Chinese counter attack" as the authentic account? whipsandchains (talk)

Thanks Amore Mio. Sure, feel free to remove that Quang Trung speech portion from the Trieu article.
Yes I have learned my lesson. I got the same treatment when I went into a Korean history forum trying to find out more about the Heavy Armor that Gorguryeo Koreans used against Wei when their alliance dissolved.
Yes I know how you feeling about extremist, that is why I stay away from Chinese language historical forums too because I feel bad for some Japanese people who come to the sites to genuinely ask and learn about historical information and get harassed.
I will definitely ask you more about Vietnamese history. Thank you and take care. whipsandchains (talk) 05:40, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just read through it. Great job :)
I just went in and corrected some of the spelling and grammar, but aside from that everything is perfect, and I learned something new about the hundreds of penises hanged on the doors lol. Which reminds me, I do recall reading from the Sanguozhi about an incident where Cao Wei troops who were greatly outnumbered by the Sun Wu when Wei attempted to invade the south. What the Wei troops did was strip off all their armor and fought naked which made the Wu troops burst into laughter and allowed the Wei troops to retreat. This might have had some influence on the naked fighting references made in later accounts of the Trung Sisters and Lady Trieu. whipsandchains (talk) 02:56, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haha I know. When you think about, that kind of tactic is actually quite daring. whipsandchains (talk) 04:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anh có biết tiếng Việt không? Can you speak Vietnamese?[edit]

These are non-English discussions which were hid for better readability for English-language speakers

LinhKhang (talk) 10:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

Hello Mr YellowMonkey.

Would you mind adding (some) sentence(s) which regard to Vo Tanh into the article Gia Long? I don't know how to do it because the current article's paragraphs are too closed.--Amore Mio (talk) 05:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure I'll do it. Your articles will be on DYK soon, well done. I've just copyedited it and tweaked a few things so that long ndashes are used for number ranges instead of simple hyphens and the cites are all the same format. Also in English, "," is used for thousands, millions and billions rather than "." YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 05:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you planning to write more on teh Tay Son- Nguyen war? YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 05:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. I had no idea that I had been blocked. You should enter your articles on Do Thanh Nhon in WP:MHCON etc YellowMonkey (cricket calendar poll!) 06:41, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Japan–Vietnam relations[edit]

Hello, I have made some additions at Japan–Vietnam relations as per your request. I hope you find the information satisfactory. Re: Trâu bò húc nhau, ruồi muỗi chết[edit]

I love that proverb. It's too bad we don't have an article about List of Vietnamese proverbs, or something more specific. There is a lot of wisdom there. At some point, I hope to get around to Vietnamese immigration to Hawaii, if you ever feel like helping out. Thanks! Viriditas (talk) 01:03, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
