Howdy. People differ on where they prefer replies. I think the majority answer in the original threads location, and expect whoever left the comment to watchlist the page, or check back later. Other people hope you'll answer at their page.

The welcome message was just because i saw a redlinked name (usually means a new user), had contributed positively to an article that I watchlist (The Story of Civilization). In high school, I reacted to the required reading by rejecting any non-required reading except science fiction: I finally read "Story of Civilization" when I was 30 ( it took me about six months to finish.). Problem bypassing a PG disambig[edit]

Re: Work on the CPU article[edit]

Addressing your first concern, the article states "A CPU that is manufactured as a single integrated circuit is usually known as a microprocessor." [emphasis added] I did try to avoid implying that any CPU that uses ICs is, in fact, a microprocessor. If you read down a little bit in the article, I mention the PDP LSI-11 as an example of a CPU that was implemented with LSI ICs but was not actually a microprocessor. I don't agree with your conclusion that the article asserts that "integrated circuit" implies "microprocessor". The entire "Discrete transistor and IC CPUs" section should prevent this sort of misconception. The reason I removed the LSI distinction was largely that the distinction between LSI/VLSI/ULSI/whatever is usually poorly-defined, and I'd really rather not introduce these terms in the introduction if its not necessary to do so.

Your second concern is, I think, much more valid and requires some additional thought. I'd really rather not devote an entire section to FPGAs; a sentence or two should cover it. I would suggest posting this concern on the talk page of that article to seek other editors' input. On content issues it's usually more appropriate to get as many people involved in the discussion as possible rather than making a decision based on talk page dialogue. In the mean time, I'll try to think of good ways to include information on cores and FPGAs without devoting undue space to them. -- mattb @ 2006-12-02T20:07Z

Straw poll on Srebrenica massacre[edit]

As a result of persistent edit warring on Srebrenica massacre, I have proposed that a straw poll be taken regarding one of the issues involved—namely, how to title the section currently named "Alternative views". This will help us to determine whether there is a consensus on what to title this section, or at least a consensus on what not to call it. Indonesia FAC[edit]

Hello there. Thanks for your comments on the Indonesia FAC. Are there any specific parts, or specific aspects that need copyediting in your opinion? Is it a length issue? Or prose? Careful thought has gone into trying to describe as much as we can about complex country while using as few words as possible. But there is always room for improvement and further suggestions. If there is no convincing reason in the edit summary, just be bold and revert. Blanking the entire article is typically blatant vandalism or a mistake, there is no legitimate reason for doing this. But even in more ambiguous cases, it is better to revert if you consider the old revision better, and tell the user to discuss this change on the talk page. About the "week 44 entry": I'm pretty sure this is a scoop, so no other reference available.

About The ChipList being a notable publication: I guess it is, but references and recommendations that I know of are from the old days. Over ten years ago The ChipList was compared to Brown's interrupt list (quite an honor :-) Then I haven't updated it for eight years. It then became "the bible of chip collectors" :-) I've been updating it in an effort to restore its glory for over a year now.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I was finally able to contact the administrator but unfortunately there is no resolution. Hopefully there will be one in the future. I have lived in Thailand for several years and have discovered a lot of interesting things particularly history that are not common knowledge outside the Kingdom. I have a particular interest in aviation and medicine since both have been a significant part of my life and career at different times.. I hope to be able to share that knowledge with Wikipedia users if the issue of blanket deletes of my posts is ever resolved. Again, thanks for you encouragement. It appears there will be no resolution to my issues. EL_C did not address the elimination of my factual contributions via the revert tool and appears to have no intention in doing so. Instead he appears to be only concerned about the website and photos of the rare aircraft I had linked. Looking at his activity he seems to spend a great deal of time using the revert tool. At this point any additional contributions I might add to articles or new articles on aircraft such as the Thai designed and built 1921 Boripatra light bomber will likely be met with another revert or elimination.

I have been fortunate in my lifetime to travel and live abroad. I am currently living abroad in where else but Thailand. There is a lot of information about Thailand I could add. My wife, an educated Thai national and I live among middle class Thais rather than the Western enclaves. Though I am not Buddhist, I have been included in activities most foreigners seldom see. I was asked by the Abbot in charge of the project to photograph and document the reconstruction of a 13th century Buddhist temple and the casting of a reproduction 10 meter Buddha image to replace the one that, with the exception of the face plate, disappeared when the Burmese sacked the temple during an ancient war. That project has been ongoing since last December. All the plates are now cast and hopefully the assembly on site will begin soon. The Thai craftsmen cast the plates using furnaces and techniques that disappeared, at least from the US, before WWII. I will likely be given access to Thai military pilots in the near future including those who fought in Vietnam and if there are any still living, pilots from WWII and the French-Thai war. I am particularly interested in doing the older pilots if any are still around because soon, if they aren't already gone, there will be none. The military here moves slowly on such requests but thus far all those up the chain of command that have seen it have approved it. However, as far as Wikipedia is concerned that information and other information I might contribute will have to come from someone else if anyone with similar knowledge and experience chooses to provide it. I only hope they don't meet the same fate. I wish the issues could have been resolved but that appears unlikely.
