Information icon Hello, I'm Chronikhiles. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Please do not remove cited content as you did in the article Marriage in Hinduism even if it is at odds with your personal beliefs. I have made a reversion to the version of the article before you added your content. Feel free to re-add your content, provided you don't remove what was already present beforehand. Thank you. Information icon Hello, I'm Schrödinger's jellyfish. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to LGBT rights in India seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Schrödinger's jellyfish (talk) 04:37, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Marriage in Hinduism, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. I wrote that paragraph myself and then decided that I should write it in a place where it was more relevant so I removed it... Arind7 (talk) 04:51, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah okay apologies for my error, I have just undone my reversion. In future it may be helpful to describe why you are removing content or making a change with an edit summary—e.g. in this case you could have written "removing content I just added as it doesn't fit in current article." That way other editors are less likely to get confused and revert your edits, thinking you're deleting content without any reason. Thanks, Swadge2 (talk) 05:11, 27 December 2023 (UTC).[reply]

Edit war

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing like you did in LGBT rights in India and Marriage in Hinduism. Please read WP:RS. If you continue the edit war you may get blocked. Next time I would file a complain against you in WP:AE. Timovinga (talk) 11:18, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Just to state that most of my edits are related to India, but also Nepal and Sri Lanka, and occasionally involving the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh. I am not involved in the geopolitics of Pakistan and Muslims. Arind7 (talk) 11:46, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 14:24, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
