How to move a page

Ashlux,

READ How_to_move_a_page. You use the "MOVE" button, at the top of most every page, this moves the talk pages, the watch pages, the links, everything. Do NOT do a copy+paste!

If the page you want to move to has never been edited, any user can do it. If it has, or there is content there you have two choices:

You can use: Requested moves

and/or

Go to the admin page and see who is online now, then hit one up. Or an admin you already know. It is ten to 100 times faster than putting it on "Requested moves" I have seen pages stay on there over a month.

Once the page has been moved, go to and click "What links here" in the toolbox on the left pane. Then you can begin your link fixes, fix the "re-directs" (I recommend looking at this list before the move). I wouldn't worry to much about the "user" pages, if any, that are linked to that particular page, those users can fixs the re-directs if they want to.

LGAT stuff

Hey I noticed someone removed your references for the Lifespring page, check out the comments [1] cheers, TitaniumDreads 23:47, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Actually I didn't add it, it has been there since 203.97.97.131 added it on Dec 13, 2003. Good job catching the (silly or stupid...?) edits. *cheers* Ash Lux 01:05, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Oklahoma photos

Glad you like my Oklahoma photos! While I have only been to the state once (on a five day business trip no less), I really enjoyed my visit. Other Oklahoma-related articles with my photos include: Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park, Mabee Center, Omniplex Science Museum, Oral Roberts University, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Prayer Tower. --Kralizec! (talk) 16:34, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, you found yourself all over the state it seems. And on a business trip? lol. Did you actually do any business? =) Ash Lux 16:41, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:06, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey Ashlux

Just wanted to say hi. I hope my efforts in the WikiProject Oklahoma have been useful thusfar. I also wanted you to know that I think it is pretty cool how you started the project. I used to live in OK and have much family and friends there. I now live in Arizona and was wondering if you might be willing to coach me a little on starting an AZ WikiProject in the future. Also, please let me know what else I can do to help with the OK project. Best, Kukini 04:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

You've done alot of good work, thanks! =) Keep checking out Wikipedia:WikiProject Oklahoma, there's plenty to do. Specifically, look at the template {{Oklahomatasks}}. You will also find a list of Oklahoma-related articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Oklahoma/Oklahoma recent changes. I've found this list to be useful along with the "Related changes" feature of MediaWiki to see what part of these pages have changed. Sure beats adding each and every page to the watchlist.
If you haven't already, checkout Wikipedia:WikiProject. I've modeled the project after a couple of WikiProjects, largely Wikipedia:WikiProject Wisconsin. If you need any help, just let me know.
Again, thanks for the help. Ash Lux 12:59, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
I have begun Wikipedia:WikiProject Arizona! One request, could you help me make this work: Recent changes in Arizona-related articles. Thusfar, I cannot figure out how you got that to happen. Best, Kukini 22:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
You were doing fine, you just needed to add wikilinks to Wikipedia:WikiProject Arizona/Arizona recent changes. Just add more links to that list, like Arizona. =) Ash Lux 22:40, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
So the list is a manual feed, not based on the category? Darnit! Kukini 23:25, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, Wisconsin manually does it too (but I could be wrong). I don't think a lot of the articles we're interested in are necessarily categorized in a way we could capture just Arizona or Oklahoma articles. You can use "Related changes" on the Category:WikiProject Oklahoma, but this will only pick up Talk pages. It will also be useless if anyone removes the template {{WikiProject Oklahoma}}. I just started working on a Java program to help with the list (automatically include talk pages in the list, for example). I'm also thinking about a one-click plugin for Wikipedia to add an article and it's talk page to that list. The list is too useful not to put some work into making it happen. (If you couldn't tell, I am a programmer). Ash Lux 23:33, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Ah...I am not a programmer, thus I am very glad to have you as a friend out here. I still have not figured out how to add to that list, but hope to soon. If you get a program created for this purpose, I would be very appreciative if you would share it over to AZ as well. (oh...btw...I intend to stay active on the OK project as well). Thanks again, Kukini 00:11, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

You can edit it by going to Wikipedia:WikiProject Arizona. At the top where it says "Recent changes in Arizona-related articles (list)(edit)", click on "list" just to list the items, or "edit" to edit the list. Clicking on "Recent changes in Arizona-related articles" will give you the changes. Essentially it is making use of the "Related changes" special page (it is listed in the toolbox on the left-hand side of most pages). This feature will tell you the changes made to articles that the current article links to. Hopefully that makes sense. For more information check out http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Related_changes. If you still got questions, shoot them to me. =) Ash Lux 01:51, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
BTW, I'm glad you're not going to abandon WikiProject Oklahoma, you actually contribute! Ash Lux 01:52, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Not just yet...I am embarrassed to say...but I only have IE right now. I will look into downloading the right browser soon, though. Kukini 14:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
That's unfortunate :( There's a lot of good plugins for FireFox. Not to mention it has tabs, etc. Tabs are one of those things that I can't live without now. Anyhow, I'm at work and confirmed the tool does not work in Internet Explorer. =( Ash Lux 18:21, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do about getting a photo. youngamerican (talk) 14:31, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks =) Ash Lux 15:29, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

My Welcome

Yeah, I would like to get the signature inside the box. But as it seems to be messing with others (you using it too?), I will clean it out again. If you would look into how to make it work, I would appreciate it. Best, Kukini 15:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Oh...and btw...I too have connections with Edmond!!! Kukini 15:21, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
lol. Mine aren't all that strong, I only lived there a year. I have now moved and live just North of Lake Hefner on 122nd and MacArthur. Originally, I'm from Broken Arrow, OK and spent time in Stillwater, OK going to Oklahoma State University - Stillwater. =) Ash Lux 15:26, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I used to live in OKC and Norman. Did you see the sooner bit I added to the land rush? Was it ok? Kukini 15:28, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but I haven't actually gotten around to reading that part yet. I am working up a did you know for the article right now. Actually, I had something but the power went out here :( Ash Lux 15:30, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Gotcha. I was just trying to help collaborate on an "article of the week" for the project. Thought joining in on your work might serve as such. Kukini 15:37, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Sango made it for me. I have noted that dilemma, but cannot seem to be able to figure out the code to fix it. I just tried again. Hmmmm...Kukini 15:53, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

It is working fine again now. I think I now what happened: I was using the right subst tag all the time, but after Kukini rv to the older version the sig was not working (and I didn't realize it he reverted it back to the pre-sig version), so I was getting -- instead of my sig in the template. PS. We should probably add it to Wikipedia:Welcome template table.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 21:11, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On April 25, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Land Run of 1889, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Commons question

You want some of the public domain images relating to Oklahoma moved to Commons. How do I go about doing this? Do I just have to upload the file to Commons and then change the link in the article? What if the image is attached to numerous articles? Thanks. --Nmajdan 02:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Check out Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons -- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 03:02, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Public Universities in Ok template

Did you see my comment on the template talk? What did you think? Also, thats article in your userpage about the history of OU is a great source. I just started reading it. It will definitely come in handy.--Nmajdan 17:31, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Ah thanks. I try to take on too much at once on here sometimes =) *runs over to look at your comment* -- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 17:40, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Question

Hi...I have a new question regarding my other wikiproject. I love the box you have created here * {{oklahomatasks}} and would very much like to have and use one for WikiProject Arizona. Could you help me make one or point me to directions to make one? WikiProject Oklahoma is coming along VERY well!!! Kukini 14:21, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and just created it for you, seems easier and faster than explaining it since I'd have to pretty much create it to explain it anyhow (had to look at {{oklahomatasks}} since it has been so long since I've touched it!). Anyhow, you should be able to edit it as usual just by clicking "edit". The template is {{arizonatasks}}. -- Ash Lux (talk | contribs) 20:15, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
