C-Class[edit]

It is great to see such diversity in the Military History WikiProject. Even though we don't agree I still respect your opinion and it seems that one of us will have to bow to the consensus of the WikiProject. I am so glad to see that people are really showing that they care about the future of this WikiProject, keep up the good work! Have A Great Day! Lord R. T. Oliver The Olive Branch 21:20, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

P.S. Do you happen to be a Coin Collector? Lord R. T. Oliver The Olive Branch 21:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

There are great arguments on both sides of the spectrum for adding or not adding the C-Class, making it one of the hardest things to vote on ever for me. I work mostly in fields regarding to the American Civil War and because of my numerous edits through that and other things, I decided that I would run for Coordinator for this Tranche. I, like yourself, am also a Numismatist, such a grand hobby for a person! And also like you the past few years I haven't been able to enjoy it as much as I used to, but it is still my Passion. I have a supreme collection of American Coins, and also a great collection of Republic of Texas Currency. Have A Great Day! Lord R. T. Oliver The Olive Branch 21:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Your Timeline for aircraft carrier service contribs[edit]

Thank you for your recent contributions to this timeline. I have not yet had time to go through everything yet, but I noted that you inserted "the" before a number of ship names. I should point out that ship names are proper nouns and thus are already the definite article and so to insert "the" is redundant and is actually incorrect grammar. I will remove these extraneous uses of "the" when I get a moment, of course if you wish to do this don't ley me stop you. <grin> Please feel free, of course, to add any other further corrections as you have been, they are appreciated, there is nothing like a fresh eye to notice all those little typos, misplaced punctuation and clumsy word constructions. - Nick Thorne talk 08:14, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Your point is well taken. Actually the usage of "the" that I am most concerned is when used before HMS (or HMAS etc) Shipname, since this means Her/His Majesty's Ship Shipname - it obviously does not make sense to say "the Her majesty's Ship Shipname" Using "the" before the ship's name without the prefix is common and I personally used it that way until recently when someone pointed out that a ship's name is (as mentioned above) a proper noun. English grammar dictates that proper nouns are already the definite article and so "the" is redundant and incorrect. Having said that, both usages (when ommitting HMS/HMAS) are common in the Navy itself, but it would not be the first time that incorrect grammar was in common use, LOL. - Nick Thorne talk 05:19, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Strategic Bombers: indian POV based vandalism of articles[edit]

Hi Mark

Can you please help with protecting these articles from vandalism:

The Problem

Russian delivery of Tu-142 and Il-38 (or the future lease of Tu-22M) to Indian Navy are maritime reconnaissance versions of both aircraft and are not capable of delivering nuclear payloads. The above listed articles are continuously vandalized with blatant misinformation, such as POV commnets like "the indian Tu-142 or Il-38 can easily be converted into nuclear capable aircrafts" and "The indian Tu-142 and Il-387 are already fitted with nuclear payload delivery systems", (which we know) are totally baseless and has no credible online or paper-based military resource.

Also, Russia, as signatory of the NPT, cannot export its nuclear-capable versions of Tu-95 or Tu-22M.

Please help! For any good reader, this type of systemic misinformation campaign (by large number of indian-orgin users) on an interesting article is very very annoying.

Thanks -- Ash sul (talk) 14:41, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Bloomex[edit]

Mark, the house is not dead. If you read Roseman's last quoted blog \ how do they stay in business\, you will see that she openly want company to go out of business. And she advices customers what to do to archive that goal. I hardly see that as an action of "independent expert"Floralexpert (talk) 07:52, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

You don't read much in the way of consumer advice columns, do you? She doesn't say she wants the company to go out of business. She is recommending chargebacks – as do many consumer advocates – because the choice for the company is to provide better service or potentially go out of business. Why are you reading so much more into it?
Just to clear the air, I really have no commitment to this article. I only examined the case because you posted a COI check request. If I was really motivated, I'd AfD the article for no statement of notability. So just what is your connection to Bloomex? It seems to me that there are several Bloomex-related editors determined to ensure that absolutely no negative commentary on the company appears in Wikipedia. That's not how Wikipedia works. If you don't like what Roseman says regarding advice on how to deal with poor customer service, you need to take a different tack than trying to convince others (to date unsuccessfully) that she's sometimes a reliable source and sometimes not – on the same subject that's her expertise. Askari Mark (Talk) 03:37, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Mark,I have no connection to Bloomex, but I have connection to floral industry all my adult life. I came accross arcticle acidentaly as you are. My edit was to include only referances from Toronto star and BBB. I never deleted controvercy page. I do not concider Roseman blog as independent source. The reasons: it is blog, she had conflict with Bloomex and she is openly wishes company to go out of business. And as you see from discussion I am not alone in my opinionFloralexpert (talk) 12:23, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

The blog issue has been explained and in this case it is non-material. I have seen nothing that says she wants the company to go out of business, just that if enough chargebacks occur, the company will be at risk of doing so … if it doesn’t better address its customer satisfaction issues. Most of the anti-Roseman posters seem to me to be meatpuppets associated with a pro-Bloomex party; indeed, the most recent admitted to solicited off-wiki to participate in support of Bloomex. If things keep going as they are, I expect some blocking will be forthcoming.
In any case, there are many other problems with this article, so I’m going to shortly be bold and try to offer a compromise solution as well as incite encouragement to fix up this article for the better. I hope that will prove a satisfactory, non-disruptive solution. Askari Mark (Talk) 19:21, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Albanian nationalism[edit]

Albanian nationalism, the article is growing but the gang of Albanians is not helping. They are trying to disasseble the article piece by piece by using semantic points and corellations with past meanings and concepts. The pretend a different interpretation of the references which is selective just like claiming that something doesnt exist when its clearly in many refs in the specific point or its additionally in many refs all over the article.15:16, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Listen in the talk page and in the RFC an action of not reading the references is again repeated. The prime example is that despite that fact that state sponsored nationalism is clear(schoolbooks with Aristotle the Albanian i.e.) it is denied that it it in the article and that sponsored nationalism exists. What exactly am i to do when the other side refuses to aknowledge reality of what is written? I replied to your questions here [1]. You may copy paste them to article talk page if necessary. Appreciatively Aigest (talk) 08:46, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

P.S. I have been here replying to Askari comment in my talk page, but seeing the use of the terms such "gang of Albanians" by a wiki contributor's of Albanian related pages, I think it is better for him to be topic banned for a while until he calms down or changes attitude Aigest (talk) 08:51, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

how convenient that i would be banned. How about you start aknowledging the references and stop repeating the same things all over over again. tag-teaming, narrow level arguments, nationalist advocating are not things i enjoy going up against. Megistias (talk) 08:55, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Azerbaijani Air and Air Defence Force[edit]

Hi Askari Mark. On the evidence of Jane's, IISS, and Military Technology magazines I merged two separate pages on the Azerbaijani Air Force and the Azerbaijani Air Defense Force. References are at the pages concerned. User:Neftchi has reverted the merge, claiming it is not logical, though the main Military of Azerbaijan page before my recent edits stated they were a single branch. Would you mind please extending your air force scrutiny over Armenia's eastern border and taking a look at the various edits and giving third party comment either at User_talk:Neftchi, where I've raised the issue with him, or on the talk page? Kind regards Buckshot06 (talk) 01:54, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
