Proposed deletion of Tahnee Coppin[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tahnee Coppin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free image (File:Yarra Jets logo.jpg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Yarra Jets logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 01:37, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

National Liaison Committee[edit]

Hello, speedy deletion per CSD R3 does not apply because this has not been created as redirect, but was an article that you just converted into a redirect. --Tikiwont (talk) 14:01, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

The problem is with this page - National Liaison Committee for International Students in Australia - after doing some research, the redirect should go to the site above, which I'll do now. I think it fell under the "misnomer" rule, and in fact both entities are now non-notable - but will work it out Australian Matt (talk) 02:11, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Redaktor Wikipedia 600px.png

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Student Unity[edit]

Hello. You recently added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [1]).

I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. A lot of similar references have been removed as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 00:03, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks -- I didn't realise it was a reused article -- will look for a reliable source when I have the chance Australian Matt (talk) 12:33, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Matt,

I was wondering, since you seem so awesomely up to date on the NUS stuff with that office bearer list of yours, if you knew who the twelve general exec members are for NUS this year? Very useful page, btw.

Australia FIFA World Cup articles[edit]

I was wandering if you could help me with these Australian soccer articles please?

What I was doing was starting to improve the 2002 and 1998 matches but I need a Australian to help me with them? Could you help me please or could you find somebody who knows about these please? Mr Hall of England (talk) 20:09, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Mr Hall of England -- will see what I can do -- I don't really focus closely on articles when I edit, but will see if I can work on those ones a bit. Australian Matt (talk) 23:46, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

RE: June 2012[edit]

Thanks for your concern about my edits. I appreciate that you've taken the time.

National Labor Students remains the officially recognised student wing of the Australian Labor Party - it has a charter signed by the National General Secretary and National President, I've seen it.

The rough lineage of ALP-affiliated Labor student organisations goes the Australian Labor Student Federation (which collapsed in the late 1960s), then the Council of Australian Labor Party Students, followed by an ALP-administered move to create a 'broad church' National Organisation of Labor Students in the late 1980s. Labor Right members left en masse and formed an unofficial organisation called Student Unity in the early 1990s, but that doesn't change the fact that they exited the official ALP student section. National Labor Students is recognised as NOLS' successor organisation.

Labor Students is the youth section of Young Labor NSW if anything. Given that the vast number of Labor and ALP clubs remain affiliated to the official ALP-student wing National Labor Students instead, I think it would be fairer to call it a re-branding of Student Unity.

If you're looking for secondary supporting material, refer to Graham Hasting's book (It Couldn't Happen Here), several journal articles on the subject (http://www.campusactivism.org/server-new/uploads/byrne_l_towards_a_better_union.pdf) or just trawl through old copies of GreenLeft and you'll find a compendium of material.

I'll be correcting your edits shortly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.188.209.246 (talk) 13:19, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject C-SPAN?[edit]

Greetings fellow Wikipedia editor -

I am leaving you this note because I have reason to believe that you are interested in C-SPAN. (I may have made this assumption based on your C-SPAN user box, or perhaps for some other reason.) If this is not an interest of yours, please feel free to read no further and delete this message.

If you are in fact someone who is interested in C-SPAN, then let me put forward an idea that I have been kicking around for a while. What if we started a C-SPAN WikiProject?

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):

  • Creation, maintenance, and improvement of articles and lists directly related to C-SPAN and its programming.
  • Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
  • Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at Wikipedia:External links.) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
  • Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as {{C-SPAN|laurabush}}, that will easily take article readers to a link of all C-SPAN Video Library links for the person about whom the article is about.
  • What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (as I have long noted on my user page) that C-SPAN and Wikipedia are both...

...fantastic vehicles for the free exchange of ideas and information in a non-sound-bite manner, and they both invite the participation of any parties (expert or amateur) who are interested in taking the time to absorb and/or contribute to the ideas and information offered. C-SPAN and Wikipedia go together like peanut butter and jelly, and I want to help give other Wiki users easy access to the great work that C-SPAN has done on a variety of topics.

Now, I should mention that I have never started a WikiProject before, and I do not know the best way to go about it. (Perhaps one of you do?) Let me offer one of my sandbox pages, User:KConWiki/sandbox/Wikiproject C-SPAN?, as a gathering area for comments until such time as we gather enough steam to start our own WikiProject page.

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope that you will give some consideration as to whether this is something we ought to attempt. Please feel free to pass this message on to others you know whom might be interested, and please let me know your thoughts and comments.

Election order[edit]

Hi. I don't necessarily think the order is unnecessary or not useful, I just think it's in the wrong place. The proper place for this sort of thing would seem, to me, to be in the election article, or in a more detailed election history section further down the page. The members lists are for just that, listing members, and by having them jump around in the table depending on which order they were elected each time makes it really hard to follow. I don't think you can expect a novice to know that they should be looking for people to show up in different columns, despite serving continuous terms. Plus, these multi-member tables end up huge enough as it is; streamlining and ease of reading should be the goal. Frickeg (talk) 10:23, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

For what it's worth, I agree with Frickeg here. The Drover's Wife (talk) 08:55, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

WikiProject Elections and Referendums article tagging[edit]

Hi Matt. Sorry to have to post directly on your talk page, but you may have noticed (on the WP:Elections and referendums talk page) that I am trying to get all the election and referendum articles tagged for the project. Unfortunately this is not making any progress, as people are claiming there is no consensus to do this, as no-one has responded on the Project talk page. Could you possibly comment on the proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Elections and Referendums#Bot to tag articles for the WikiProject, as I'm getting rather frustrated by the attitude of the people at WP:BTR.
