Please read WP:DATE for correct formatting instructions[edit]

Hi. I reverted your edits to Tony Malinosky because they were not in compliance with WP:DATE. Please note that places of birth and death are not to be entangled within the bracketed lifespan of the individual. Thank you. Cheers, CP 05:34, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

dates comment[edit]

Thanks for your comment at MOSNUM talk. You may be interested in looking at this information page about the issue. Tony (talk) 09:03, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

In response to your more recent post there: well, no it wouldn't solve the problems. Our poor management of date formats is to a large extent caused by DA, which stops editors seeing the formats that our readers see, and that have been chosen already in an article.
So a British editor comes along to the article on J. F. Kennedy and adds a few dates in British format, since that's what she's noticed in display-mode. Then we have a mixture of formats in the article's main text, which is what our readers see. My auditing of date formats has shown this to be a major problem. Re: Joel Adamson[edit]

There was a discussion on WP:WSS/P about changing from when players played to when they were born, WP:Baseball was told about it at the time and input was requested, and User:Fabrictramp was the only person from baseball to comment. Waacstats (talk) 08:42, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
