Improving the Lead

[edit]

The old lead contains too many details and is not general enough for an introduction.

Regarding the notation given at the very beginning of the old lead: This certainly does not seem to be widely used, and no reference is given to support the acceptance of such new notation. There is no need to introduce a confusing new notation at the beginning of a general introduction to a widely used experimental method without any argument to support it.

The old theoretical explanation in the lead is inaccurate. In certain cases, primary kinetic isotope effects can be observed even when the bond formation or cleavage does not occur at the rate-determining step. The Hartwig paper given in the references explains such scenarios[1] . -- Aykutaydin 14 December 2013

Regarding the notation given at the very beginning of the old lead

[edit]

This notation certainly does not seem to be widely used in literature, and no reference is given to support the acceptance of such new notation. There is no need to introduce a confusing new notation at the beginning of a general introduction to an already established experimental method without any argument to support it. -- Aykutaydin 14 December 2013 —Preceding undated comment added 07:56, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
