Aletrishe Nietrà[edit]

Banana, I posted more rationale for deleting the speedy tag at the article talk page. Quick summary, speedy delete requires no credible claim of significance. Being an author is such a credible claim, thus speedy does not apply. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 06:24, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Hayes[edit]

Hi Banana, I've added a few additional details and resources for the Hayes bio. Given that he's got significantly more reliable sources than Gary Arndt, a contemporary in the travel space, I certainly think it passes the notable guideline.

Happy for further suggestions on revisions before posting :)

A while ago, you made this page a redirect to the main article on the country. Any specific reason why? Mind if I make it a separate article again and develop it some more? --Banana (talk) 06:52, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The first stage would be to develop it some more, and when the section becomes too large, then to break it out into a standalone, leaving behind an appropriate summary in the main article, as guided by WP:Summary style. At the moment there isn't enough material to justify a standalone article - it would simply be a mirror of what is in Corruption_in_the_Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo#Corruption. The "Corruption in Foo" articles are in a poor state at the moment, and it would be good if they were cleaned up. Corruption by country is very poor. It's mostly a red link farm. Corruption in the United States would be better as a category. Corruption in Canada is a non-starter. There is a sense that perhaps something solid could be made from Political corruption, with sub-articles by region. I think it's a fairly big project to take hold of and organise, but it would be good if someone started it. SilkTork *YES! 14:50, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just making sure there wasn't a reason other than lack of content. Happy New Year!--Banana (talk) 04:52, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2011[edit]

Do not remove Biographies of Living Persons prods from articles without addressing the issue, as you did with Brandon Huntley. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the respective talk page instead. Thank you. Only a sysop can remove it please donot remove the template in future! BurhanAhmed (talkcontribs) 02:11, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please point me to the policy that says only an admin can remove a sticky prod. In any case, stick prods only apply to unreferenced BLPs which this was not. I believe that as I have already objected to a prod tag, you cannot prod the article again. --Banana (talk) 02:20, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rulebook[edit]

Regarding the external link at the Sarah Palin article; I'm not all that up on the rulebook on what is allowed in an article. From the way you phrase your question about the Sowell reference, I get the implication that external links are frowned upon. If that is the case, please, feel free to edit accordingly. I'm always trying to improve as an editor and find experience the best teachers...as always. It's easier to remember. So, I'll pay attention to your edit and learn something.Buster Seven Talk 04:15, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to see if any one comments in the next couple days. Palin's kinda an explosive topic on here. --Banana (talk) 06:35, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right. One of my first "bold" edits was there when Palin was selected as VP candidate. Ive checked in on it ever since. It almost never cools down although, very surprisingly, it is extrememly slow there now even though it just came out of full protection. TC. B7. Buster Seven Talk 06:53, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cypherpunks' Tyler Durden[edit]

Tyler Durden is an active member of Cypherpunks and has been since the late 90s. You can search the Cypherpunk archives for his posts. The information I included about him being a fibre optic engineer comes from information he has posted about himself (likewise for information about him moving to the financial sector). The veracity of his claims to having been a fibre optic engineer appear to have been bourne out by his analysis of the AT&T US domestic eavesdropping documents. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.133.92.228 (talk) 18:16, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I hope my comments aren't coming across as overly critical. I think this topic is an especially challenging one to have written as good an article as you have. Article request[edit]

Given that the databanks are only accessible to me at the library, it would probably work best if you sent me an e-mail, so I could copy the address down and forward the article to you. As I said, some are available only in abstract or citation format from the databanks, but there are other databanks which might have related articles as well. I think it would probably make sense to forward all of them as well, just to ensure that something mentioned in them isn't omitted. John Carter (talk) 17:48, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to say that the additional databanks I checked today didn't yield the article you requested. There may be copyright or other problems for that specific article involved, I don't know. The databanks don't apparently contain every article from each listed source. I sent you the sources I could find, and will continue to check the various databanks for additional sources in the near future. Sorry again the article wasn't on the databank. 2011 China floods[edit]

Hi Banana04131, I just wanted to say thanks for your contributions in the 2011 China floods article :) EdwardLane (talk) 09:07, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Hopefully it gets on ITN now. --Banana (talk) 01:35, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the ITN nomination has moved it into archive - it was my first attempt at nominating an ITN candidate - but I originally trying to find out where to nominate an article to be added to the 'ongoing events' (disasters section) of the Portal:Current_events page. Perhps you know how that bit works ? EdwardLane (talk) 08:34, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just to let you know the article's been updated to a better state now - still not made it to itn or the current events portal though :) EdwardLane (talk) 12:12, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just saw it on ITN. No idea how things work there, but glad it made it. --Banana (talk) 05:40, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to RFCs

Remember that RFCs are part of Dispute Resolution and at times may take place in a heated environment. Please take a look at the relevant RFC page before responding and be sure that you are willing and able to enter that environment and contribute to making the discussion a calm and productive one focussed on the content issue at hand. Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)[edit]

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:08, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Cute Lepers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems to fail notability tests

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Please comment on an RfC about Living members of deposed royal families and the titles attributed to them on WP[edit]

Hello - I have opened an RfC about suggested guidelines in the Manual of Style for articles about living members of families whose ancestors were deposed as monarchs of various countries and the titles and "styles" attributed to these living people, at the moment often in a misleading and inaccurate way in my opinion. Please join in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biographies "Use of royal "Titles and styles" and honorific prefixes in articles and templates referring to pretenders to abolished royal titles and their families"[1]Regards,Smeat75 (talk) 05:31, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
