Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Baruch Omale, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 14:10, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Njd-de. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Elijah Abina, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. – NJD-DE (talk) 14:33, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could you please elaborate on what you mean by "reliable source" because I only added a reference to the page and the source was reliable. Thank you! Baruch Omale (talk) 15:02, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nowiki

[edit]

In general, you shouldn't arbitrarily use nowiki in mainspace, as you did at Predatory publishing; it is reserved for cases where wiki markup must be overridden, such as putting {{ in an article. Just the {{citation needed}} template will generate usable output; it is unclear what you were trying to accomplish by encasing it in nowiki. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 09:40, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

June 2022

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Okra, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Content about foods implying human health effects should be supported by WP:SCIRS or WP:MEDRS reviews. Zefr (talk) 00:23, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Baruch Omale. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:James Omale, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 14:10, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recasting a DISAMBIG page into an article, at Gender preference

[edit]

I undid your edit at Gender preference, because you turned a disambiguation page into an article pertaining to just one of the topics listed at the disambig page, without discussion, and without dealing with the other meaning of the term. Please review the guidance at Wikipedia:Disambiguation to see what these pages are all about. It's not prohibited to turn a disambig page into an article, but you should explain your rationale, deal with the other meanings, and probably start out by raising a proposal on the disambig Talk page first, to state your intention, and explain why it's a good thing, to see if there is WP:CONSENSUS for your change. If you have any questions, feel free to {{reply}} below, or to contact me on my talk page.

Also, I noticed some of your sandbox tutorial subpages; if you are in a class affiliated with Wikipedia:Education, or in any class that promotes editing tasks at Wikipedia, can you please mention this either here on your Talk page, or on your user page? Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 21:59, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced edits

[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, you may be blocked from editing. Additionally, "New World Encyclopedia" is not considered to be a WP:RS as it is a Wikipedia fork. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:57, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
