Static pressure[edit]

Hi Basheer! Thank you for taking an interest in our article on Static pressure. On 9 September you edited the article to add a new definition and cited the source of your information - see your diff. The article covers three different applications of the expression static pressure - as used in aviation, fluid dynamics and fluid statics. The definition you added is consistent with static pressure as used in fluid dynamics and fluid statics, but it isn't consistent with static pressure as used in aviation (where altimeters and airspeed indicators rely on the pressure in an aircraft's static pressure system.) Consequently the definition by Coulson, Richardson and Backhurst is out of place as the first sentence in the article and I have deleted it. If you are interested in having the new definition in the sections on fluid dynamics and fluid statics I suggest you either insert it in one or both of those sections, or better still raise it for discussion on the Talk page - Talk:Static pressure. Happy editing! Dolphin (t) 02:18, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
