License tagging for Image:Bigb.kbc.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bigb.kbc.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ravi Saini.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ravi Saini.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Welcome to WP:INDIA[edit]

Welcome!
Flag of India.svg

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! — Lost(talk) 09:11, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

List of Hotseat Contestants of KBC3[edit]

Uncyclopedia hosts only satirical articles. List of Hotseat Contestants of KBC3 won't find a place there.

I taggged it as unencyclopedic, because I believe that this list is against the guideline: Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. For a precedent see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Canadian Idol (Season 4) contestants.

I will mark the article as prod if nobody is opposed to the unencyclopedic tag. Otherwise, I'll nominate it for deletion. Of coures, you've a right to disagree -- you can remove the unencyclopedic tag if you feel that this list deserves an article on Wikipedia. utcursch | talk 13:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume II, Issue 2 - March 2007[edit]

Project News
  • Jimbo's visit to India and the WikiCamp in Chennai: Jimbo recently visited India in late February and early March on wiki work. This included a trip to a WikiCamp in Chennai. The one day conference attracted 300 participants from across India and beyond dealt with issues facing wikis ([1]). It was widely covered by the press, eg The Hindu( [2]), which cited the efforts of Bhadani (edit count), Sundar (leadership on Tamil Wikipedia) and Ganeshk (Creation of Ganeshbot to create articles on Indian towns from census figures). Ganeshk himself travelled from California to attend the conference.
  • Wikipedia Weekly 15: Wikipedia Weekly, a informal Wikipedians' program that purports to give "A weekly audio roundup of Wikipedia happenings with news, interviews and roundtable discussions" recently interviewed two prominent editors Rama's Arrow and Ragib(listen). The entire 34 minute interview was entirely about the world of Indian subcontinent wiki-happenings, and was the first episode which was not entirely dominated by discussion of wiki-politics and wiki-bureaucracy, with the host Witty lama praising the efficiency of the project and its proliferation of featured content. Rama's Arrow cited the team spirit, friendship and respect among project members in discussing its success and FA productivity, as well as discussing subcontinental wiki-conflict. Ragib talked also of his public campaign to raise awareness of the Bengali Wikipedia in his native Bangladesh, which has seen a 30-fold increase in article count over the past year.

  • Translation Department: Can you read and write any languages of India? Do you know multiple languages and are looking to keep your skills at a high level or improve them? If so, the Translation Depeartment may be for you!

The translation department of the India WikiProject aims to utilize high-quality non-English material related to India for the goals of the project. This includes both translating articles from and to other-language Wikipedias as well as assisting contributors with non-English sources. The department aims to provide services in transliteration, formulating scripts for various languages, as well as translating articles from one language to another and validating sources in other languages to that of the encyclopedia article. If you are looking for a friendly translator here is your go-to point. Currently, we are still seeking representation for Kashmiri, Nepali, Oriya, Sindhi and Tulu, as well as reinforcements in all other languages.

Images gallery on your user page[edit]

Hi Bhavesh, EarthPerson again. You have a nice gallery of images on your user page, but I don't know if you should have it there. Specifically, the images themselves, or at least the copyrighted ones that are being used under fair use should be removed. Please take a look at WP:USER#Images_on_user_pages and see if I'm reading it correctly. You can put links to the copyrighted images, but I don't think you can display the images themselves. It's a pity too, since it is quite an collection and an accomplishment. Cheers. --EarthPerson 23:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi EarthPerson. Thanks so much for letting me know about Wikipedia's policy of Images on user pages. I noticed a number of people that have had gallery on their userpage and I wasn't aware of any rule to not include non-free images. Previously, my collection of uploaded images was in fact a list of links to the image but it didn't seem to be a very visual way of respresenting my work on Wikipedia so I decided to put it in its current gallery format (it also made my userpage allegedely more colourful). Since you have mentioned it now, I'll change it back to the listed links format. Thanks once again, have a great day. --Bhavesh.Chauhan 01:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
OK, it's changed back to its previous listed format. Hopefully, a user is allowed to put links to the copyrighted images. --Bhavesh.Chauhan 01:27, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. You're welcome. I think you're good to go with it now. I'm sure you can make a link to copyrighted images. One thing that you could use to widen your lists across the page are column tags. You can do something like this:
{{col-begin}}
{{col-break}}
        *link to pic 1
{{col-break}}
        *link to pic 2
{{col-break}}
        *link to pic 3
{{col-break}}
        *link to pic 4
{{col-end}}
And it gives you this result:
Cool, eh? I found on the page for James Earl Jones in his filmography.  :) Cheers! --EarthPerson 23:21, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
That's is pretty cool. Thanks for the advice, I'll take it into consideration. --Bhavesh.Chauhan 22:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I see above that you just got AmiDaniel's VandalProof. Please be careful when you use it. Why did you revert User:Ugajin here? And with an automatic edit summary implying his edit was vandalism...? (Not all redlinked accounts are vandals, and that user certainly is not.) As for the vandalism template on his page, I'm glad to see you've already removed it, but of course the orange new messages banner will still show up. Have you thought about perhaps leaving him an explanatory note? Just a suggestion, it's up to you, of course. Bishonen | talk 02:17, 3 May 2007 (UTC).

Orphaned non-free image (Image:KBC jaaved jaffrey.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KBC jaaved jaffrey.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aksibot 08:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Shoegoo.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shoegoo.JPG.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:09, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

hi![edit]

Hi,why are the users over here so keen on deleting the articles 5 minutes within the time of creation? They don't even give a proper reason. The article I created was about Lucky being telecasted on Star plus.I wrote about the character Lucky and that he's chosen to be a Rakshak and other stuff. Now what is considered sufficient info?Should I write down all the episodes, huh?Give your response at my talk page.By the way I dint know that you are only 15.Thanks.Gj talent 21:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

No, no there was no point in that. Please do create an article for Lucky as although it has been given in the list, there is no such page. Yes, I will remember about what you told. It's just that I forget it sometimes. Thanks. Gj talent 15:38, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vijay av.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Vijay avatar.jpg. The copy called Image:Vijay avatar.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:34, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:MBCA_Trailer.JPG[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MBCA_Trailer.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is either no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use, or else the rationale given is not valid. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 11:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Gonu mcd.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gonu mcd.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:27, 9 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Furthermore, I have seen reports that this image is fake (the date-stamp is fake), that the image was not taken during Gonu. – Chacor 04:27, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Tagging an image which you did not take as {{GFDL-self}} is a very serious violation of Wikipedia's image and copyright policies. Please do not do it again. If you do upload images in the future under a false license, you are liable to be blocked from editing Wikipedia.Chacor 04:34, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
I have deleted the image in question under General criterion #12 of the criteria for speedy deletion. The image isn't GFDL-self; it's a fake media image. Unless you can prove you made it yourself, {{GFDL-self}} does not apply. Further attempts to violate the image and copyright policies will result in your being blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Coredesat 05:16, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Advertising[edit]

A tag has been placed on India Forums, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Blatant Advertising

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Replaceable fair use Image:KBC3_rating_1.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:KBC3_rating_1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 13:54, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Personal pages not allowed.[edit]

Notability of Rimi Dhar[edit]

A tag has been placed on Rimi Dhar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wikizen07 02:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Personal Pages should be restricted[edit]

There are hundreds of contests & competitions with contestants. It is not necessary to have a page dedicated for every contestant if his or her name is already mentioned on the competition page. The Rimi Dhar page has nothing significant except that she participated in the contest Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007. Since her participation has already been mentioned on the contest page, it is not necessary to have a dedicated page. Waste of disk space and completely violates the wiki concept. Anyways, that is my argument. I will leave it on the administrators to decide. Even shows like American Idol, do not have dedicated pages of all the contestants. In this case, it will be only worth to have a dedicated page if the artiste has recorded some song of music for an album. Till then, her name should only be limited to the contest page. Replaceable fair use Image:ADU-SRGMP.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:ADU-SRGMP.jpg.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 Contestant Pages[edit]

Hi, I deleted these because they did not assert notability. You are free to recreate them if you want, but please make sure you indicate in each article how each individual is notable. (I don't think all of them qualify based solely on participation in the show, although the winner clearly would. The right answer is somewhere in the middle, probably the top 4 or so.) I'd be happy to undelete these into subpages of your user page so you can work on them. Just let me know. -- But|seriously|folks  05:07, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

And by the way, I did not see the talk page with your explanation, because that particular article was deleted by another admin. It's best to include your reasoning on all affected pages so that sort of thing doesn't happen. -- But|seriously|folks  05:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

OK, they're all loaded into your user space as User:Bhavesh.Chauhan/name. Please remove the speedy deletion and hangon tags as soon as possible, or they're likely to be deleted again. When you are confident you have complied with WP:N, and particularly WP:MUSIC, you can move them back into the main space using the "MOVE" tab at the top of the page. Please don't cut and paste (for copyright licensing reasons). Good luck! -- But|seriously|folks  05:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed while I was deleting them that they were rather developed. I hope you are able to bring them into compliance so they will be welcome in the mainspace. -- But|seriously|folks  05:41, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Someone just pointed out to me that I failed to properly move these into your user space. They're at a subpage of your username but in the main space. (Bhavesh.Chauhan/name). I'll fix them right now. SORRY!! -- But|seriously|folks  09:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

OK, it's really done this time. You can see them listed here. Sorry again for the confusion. -- But|seriously|folks  09:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of personal pages[edit]

Please don;t get angry. I marked the other pages for deletion after Rimi Dhar's page was deleted by admin. Also, to let you know, I too had created some personal pages which were deleted before you had even created these pages. I agree with the admins that at this point, there is really nothing significant or noteworthy about the participants. I didnt mean to make you angry but we need to respect the wiki tool and use it responsibly. Sorry for interfering but you are more than welcome to recreate those pages if you still think that they are important. Wikizen07 17:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Great effort on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that you have done a great job by compiling the information on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 page. We started on a bad note but I hope you have forgiven me. I will try to contribute but looks like you have everything under control. Few things that I would love to see on the page is -

  • Approximate number of votes received in the finals for each show. They generally mention the number & I think it was some 6.5 lakhs for the first elimination. Could go as a row on your elimination chart or could be a separate table. I just hope that they mention the number everytime they announce the results.
  • In the elimination chart, add a new column for country name/flag for every participant. I know that you have it for the individual names under gharanas, but thought that it would make it look like a competition between countries too. I mean, we only have four countries (India, Pakistan, Dubai & USA) in contention but would give it a world championship feel.

That is all I can think of at the moment as suggestion.

Once again, keep up the good work. You are setting up a good example for future articles on competitions.

Thank you/ suggestions[edit]

Hello buddy, really good job creating the page of zee tv and thank you for the comment. May I ask you if i have any questions, because i am new to the wiki... Also, this is just a suggestion, I hope you don't get mad, on your zee tv program template, you can delete the listed program that are off the air, example, hum paanch, astitva, and so on,,, cuz i think the template should include only those that are currently on air. But u can keep the links open to those that are off air under FORMER PROGRAM LIST. I hope u like my suggestion and I know that U know more than me... It was just a suggestion. your new friend, Survir

WikiProject Indian television[edit]

Hey, I just saw that you've created this new community. Good going!! Most Indian TV articles are pretty low quality. We can definitely make it better!

Wikiproject[edit]

Hi there. I will take a look at your Wikiproject. Looks like another great effort. Won't be able to contribute much since I'm not very familiar with many TV programs. I just watch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa when it comes to Hindi programmes. Wikizen07 19:27, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Alright. I will join it and will try to contribute. Thanks for the invitation. Wikizen07 19:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that Doordarshan's article wrongly described it as a channel rather than a broadcaster. I have created a new page for DD National and will work later today to expand both the pages and make them distinct. I thought I would let you know since you wanted Doordarshan to be an FA.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:BMTD Promo.jpg)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:BMTD Promo.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:49, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Abt Idol Saregamapa[edit]

I think that saregamapa finalists should also be allowed to have their own pages. This is according to Wikiproject Idol series. Saregamapa is a better singing competition in my opinion. However, it is localized to Hindiphonie regions only and other people dont know much about it. You can start a project by that name or can ask the idol series to expand the idol to include all singing competitions. Either way, if you plan to work on it, do notify me as I am ready to help wherever I can. Thank you.--Eukesh 17:42, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Armaan-malik.JPG[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Armaan-malik.JPG.

Thank you. Rettetast 16:22, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:Show boogieimg.jpg[edit]

You replaced an image originally uploaded by Survir but you failed to indicate the source of the image. My guess is that you edited the original image to delete the two sided boarder. There is no problem doing this, but it does need to be documented. Did you edit the file or replace the file with a different one. If you found a replacement image then we need to know the address of that image. I found the one that Survir originally uploaded. Dbiel (Talk) 00:37, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply, I will update the fairuse statements of both images to reflect your edit of the file. Dbiel (Talk) 19:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Kramer[edit]

What's up with this Kramer thing? I've got to admit, I had my doubts about it and I only added that old ref to tidy the article up. Is that a screenshot from Seinfeld? (I've never really watched Seinfeld, so I wouldn't know) I thought it looked like a videogame screenshot, to be honest. Dbam Talk/Contributions 00:21, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

I see what you mean, I've made a bit of a schoolboy error there, how embarrassing! In fact, even a simple google search shows me it has absolutely nothing to do with GTA4. I'll get me coat... Dbam Talk/Contributions 13:20, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Preity Zinta FA[edit]

Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Abhijit Bhattacharya[edit]

Nuvola apps important yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Abhijit Bhattacharya, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Replaceable fair use Image:Sunil Grover.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Sunil Grover.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:05, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Complaining about a member[edit]

Hi Bhavesh

A friend and I recently re-did the Ram Kapoor page,we added pictures a table of his professional work, his career information and much more. The article was fine until Huaiwei made some changes which I reverted. She changed the date format without an explanation. Then she removed the spacing, which were added because I know 2 people who are legally blind who come on this page and find it easier to read with the spacing.

I revrerted the spacing and the format and left her message not to do so. She became vindictive because I did not accept her changes and then went ahead and made more changes. All the information on the page is verifiable. When I have been unable to verify the informaton about his career I have left it blank. Linke Sangharsh, I do not know the name of Ram's character or the role he played and therefore it's left blank.

The quotes of his fans have been taken from his fansite. It is not unverifiable research. I did not give the reference because the link to his official site has been given and it is posted there. This information was all found during the scope of investigation.

Can you please let Huaiwei not to make changes and lay unsubtantiated arguements with tags on this page I would also like to request this page be protected.

Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Proposed deletion of Sameer Mohammed[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Sameer Mohammed has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Scott Mac (Doc) 12:46, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello Bhavesh.Chauhan! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 9 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2,840 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 1 - (June 2010)[edit]

Project News

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.

Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume V, Issue no. 2 - November 2010[edit]

English WikiProject News

After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.

Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.

What's New?

Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.

The source code for the Article Alert Bot is now available and the bot itself is expected to be up and running very shortly. This means that article alerts for the Indian Wikiproject will again be available, enabling editors to easily keep track of developments in respect of reviews, nominations, deletions etc.

The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.

In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Proposed deletion of Palki (2016 film)[edit]

Hello, Bhavesh.Chauhan. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Palki (2016 film), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Sulfurboy (talk) 01:07, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
