Speedy deletion of "Slieve Bloom Scout County"[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A page you created, Slieve Bloom Scout County, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it has no content, other than external links, categories, "see also" sections, rephrasing of the title, and/or chat-like comments.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 18:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

If you clarify what it is that you were actually trying to do, I can help you sort it out. Bearcat (talk) 18:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
What I wanted to do was create an infobox on the side of the article but I'm not entirely sure how to do so. I can't find instructions to do this in the guidelines either so help would be very much appreciaited. Bonzostar (talk) 18:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Copy the following into the article and fill in the appropriate details:

{{Infobox WorldScouting | name = | image = | image-size = | caption = | type = | owner = | age = | headquarters = | location = | country = | coords = | f-date = | defunct = | founders = | founder = | award-for = | members = | chiefscouttitle = | chiefscout = | chiefscouttitle2 = | chiefscout2 = | chiefscouttitle3 = | chiefscout3 = | website = | affiliation = | next = | prev = }}

Please keep in mind, though, that the article will still need to contain some text in addition to the infobox; some people seem to think just an infobox is sufficient as an article, but it isn't. Hope that helps a bit... Bearcat (talk) 18:43, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks Bearcat. That's a great help. Bonzostar (talk) 19:31, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Merge of Slieve Bloom Scout County[edit]

Hi, I thought I would raise some issues about this merge here. This is part of a much longer story. Earlier in the year we removed articles on the Scout Association Counties in England and Scout Association Areas in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Part of the discussion is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scouting/Archive 5#The way forward for UK and, in the same archive, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scouting/Archive 5#Scouting in UK. There is more discussion at Talk:Scouting in England. The debate was in several places, but there was clear consensus to merge County/Area articles up to ones about government regions and to cover all Scouting organisations. The County articles were a mess and not being maintained properly. We then looked at Ireland and merged the articles about the Provinces. These were just lists of Scout Groups which are not encyclopedic and are unmaintainable. I wrote a template to use on Talk pages about the consnesus of what goes in these articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting/Country and region articles, but it has not yet been used. However, it does express a very clear consensus. Slieve Bloom Scout County is just one County. If this stays then we will soon have many more bad articles on all the other counties. This would be reversing a cleanup of Scouting articles across the world. Please take a look at the Scouting Project and its sub-pages and talk discussions. Join us in improving Scouting articles. --Bduke (Discussion) 21:51, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Roscrea Scout Troop[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Roscrea Scout Troop requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 18:22, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Ireland naming question[edit]

You are receiving this message because you have previously posted at a Ireland naming related discussion. Per Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ireland article names#Back-up procedure, a procedure has been developed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland Collaboration, and the project is now taking statements. Before creating or replying to a statement please consider the statement process, the problems and current statements. GnevinAWB (talk) 17:54, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Ryan Harris (cricketer)[edit]

Hello. I'm afraid I've had to remove the "History" section you added to Harris's article last year (in this edit) because it was very nearly word-for-word the same as his Cricinfo profile. Cricinfo's articles are copyright, and we do not have the right to use them like that; changing just a few words is not sufficient. We need to use the information provided to write our own articles in our own words. Loganberry (Talk) 02:00, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome. Loganberry (Talk) 00:35, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

I appreciate your reply, and it will be removed thanks ImDone1 (talk) 01:00, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Request for help[edit]

I thought it might be a good idea to run a contest or two through the Countries WikiProject to attract editors to improve country coverage on Wikipedia, especially the country outlines.

I noticed you are a member of the WikiProject, and was wondering if you could help.

I've posted a message at Countries WikiProject talk page to get discussion started on what the awards programs should be and how they should be run.

Your ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The Transhumanist 23:13, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the offer and the input! By the way, we need judging criteria, any ideas? Please respond at the Countries WikiProject talk page. The Transhumanist 23:37, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:38, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge[edit]

50k Challenge poster.jpg You are invited to participate in the 50,000 Challenge, aiming for 50,000 article improvements and creations for articles relating to the United States. This effort began on November 1, 2016 and to reach our goal, we will need editors like you to participate, expand, and create. See more here!
