Majdel Balhis

[edit]

Many thanks for your contributions to the article. I'm not personally familiar with the region at all, but (if Majdel Balhis is, as the article says, "a village") is it possible that your additions would be better placed in the wider Mount Hermon article? That article seems to have a significant gap between the 4th and 20th centuries, so could benefit from this sort of detail. --Lord Belbury (talk) 15:16, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The city resides in Mount Hermon, therefore it would apply to those who reside on Mount Hermon. All of this happened every close to Lebanon. Although this information would be great on Mount Hermon. All the descendants from the region and history would directly impact the people of Lebanon, which is why its important for people to know about the country. Brmcmahon (talk) 16:41, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can I ask if you are adding this information to the Majdel Balhis article rather than the Mount Hermon article solely because the Mount Hermon article is locked to new editors? --Lord Belbury (talk) 17:01, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Mount Hermon is religiously affiliated with multiple religious groups. I am unsure of there reactions, I would rather add information into my own city in Majdel and inform my family of their history. Also it may be locked to new editors. I am just writing facts Brmcmahon (talk) 17:03, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that article is locked to new editors. If content might be controversial then it needs to be checked, I'll ask the Lebanon WikiProject to take a look at it. Thanks for your responses. --Lord Belbury (talk) 17:31, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Brmcmahon (talk) 19:47, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

With no response at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Lebanon and nobody else noticing or commenting on the content, I'm afraid I'm going to have to go ahead and cut it. The history of Mount Hermon ultimately belongs at the Mount Hermon article, not in an article about a single village. If you're unable to edit that article due to protection issues, you can request the addition at Talk:Mount Hermon: your version of the Majdel Balhis article remains in the history at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Majdel_Balhis&oldid=1092287402, if you want to link to that and ask somebody to add it to the Mount Hermon page.

I hope this all makes sense to you. --Lord Belbury (talk) 11:23, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But it pertains to that village. All of that happened to the people in the village. I get its knowledge for everyone but its there information Brmcmahon (talk) 11:36, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just because its not on mount hermon, how does that make sense to take it down from the village. Its there knowledge. They can choose what they do with it Brmcmahon (talk) 11:37, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Majdel balhis is part of mount hermon, its there right to know. Its all credible Brmcmahon (talk) 11:41, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If the content is about the much larger area of Mount Hermon as a whole, it should go in that article instead. A person wanting to read about Majdel Balhis should not be given six long history sections which don't say anything about Majdel Balhis specifically; if they want the wider history of Mount Hermon, they can click through to read that article.
If you want me to raise an edit request on Talk:Mount Hermon asking to move your six "Inhabitants of..." sections there, I'd be happy to do that for you. --Lord Belbury (talk) 11:46, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, people should know about this. Personally I was a victim of the Georgian slave trade and so was my family that lives in Majdel Balhis. From mount hermon but ethnically Georgian. Its actually very personal to me, my family, my grandparents and the entire city. The city is small and the majority of the people that live there are victims of the Georgian slave trade. It is very close to Nimrod which is something that the Mamluks built but resides in Israel. Majdel Balhis is a small village on the Western slopes of the mountains. It actually should be important to everyone in the community. To take it down and move it to a location where they talk about the biblical and hebrew mountain of Israel would be so beyond hurtful to me and my family. Its mainly a village of my family, like 800 people live there Brmcmahon (talk) 12:11, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please just leave it there, its all factual and I don't want it associated with Israel, or Nimrod, which Israel already took from my family. My own grandma was a slave. Who is this actually hurting, I am educating my family on their Georgian ancestry Brmcmahon (talk) 12:12, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Content about Mount Hermon should be on the Mount Hermon page, that's just how Wikipedia organises its content. If you want to write a history of Mount Hermon for your local community that presents it in a different context, perhaps you could do that on another website. --Lord Belbury (talk) 12:55, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
