Linking[edit]

I'm not commenting on the rest of your recent edit to the Sarah Payne article, but linking like bail is completely unnecessary, as is divorced. You'll find that bail and divorced works just fine. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:56, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

August 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Soham murders has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bblogspot\.com' (link(s): http://bingkoi.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Tintern Abbey do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Wikilinking dates[edit]

I am almost certain you have edited on these forums a lot longer than your user page suggests, but under various other user names. I am not too sure why you do this but please heed every message sent to you under each user name. I have sent this message to you before and please remember this for when you move onto another user name.

It is stated under the Wikipedia Manual of Style that partial dates should not be wikilinked. Partial dates include '20th century', '1950s', '1950', or 'November 1950'. If an exact date is given, then it can be wikilinked. If you see an article where such dates in this format are wikilinked, then please remove them by removing the square brackets either side of it. If you see an article where they are not wikilinked then please do not wikilink them unless they are precise dates. Thanks, and happy editing! - Erebus555 (talk) 13:38, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello By Skill By Labour! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2,749 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

 1. George Merrill (songwriter) - Find sources: "George Merrill (songwriter)" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · HighBeam · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · The Wikipedia Library · NYT · WP reference
 2. Shannon Rubicam - Find sources: "Shannon Rubicam" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · HighBeam · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · The Wikipedia Library · NYT · WP reference
