Audio Science Review

[edit]

Hi, can you please remove the templated messages? I believe they have been adequately addressed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Science_Review — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.68.121.18 (talk) 17:21, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oregon wildfire article

[edit]

Please put it back. It's needed to navigate between years, and it's obviously notable. Peregrine Fisher (talk) 06:18, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

At present it's a restatement of its title. There's no rush: take as long as you like to make an article, rather than a navigation placeholder. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 06:24, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a placeholder. That's all it is. It's like a DAB page. Peregrine Fisher (talk) 03:52, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If there were some notable wildfires in Oregon that year, please go ahead and add them (with references) to the empty draft at Draft:2019 Oregon wildfires. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 01:35, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Title

[edit]

Please Remove the title "Commando: Get Ready For War" Please Royyaazz (talk) 04:53, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is already nominated for deletion. An administrator will get to that soon. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 05:01, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Captain, I wanted to let you know why I am posting these notices to your talk page. I noticed that you added information about an arrest to Steve Bannon's article lead. Based on the fact that the article has a 1RR per 24hr limit it appears to have a long, controversial history. Your good faith edit didn't break any rules but you should be aware of what you might step into. Springee (talk) 14:34, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll tread carefully. Captain Calm (talk) 14:49, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Capitain Calm The Rekman Seller page and propose for deletion again while your clearly stated that: clearly indicates the notability. report it to AFD if necessary.

Richard Horatio Blair

[edit]

Dear Captain Calm - I would appreciate your guidance on how to lift the notability notice, whilst maintaining the eponymous person's privacy. He emerged from the shadow of his father in 2008, featuring in dozens of newspaper articles, conferences, TV interviews, commemorative events and publications since then. Should I sprinkle a few through his incipient biography? I don't wish to make a more complete biography yet, outlining his early years with his father and mother, his professional life to his latter years as the defender of his name;: that will happen eventually but Richard himself is not ready for it (he only agreed to this brief overview because it confers notability on his more important appointments). I will include a photograph, though, to give it more visual presence. I would appreciate your sage advice.

Geneus01 (talk) 06:39, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello G, I'd be happy to help but it's difficult to answer without knowing more about the man, and about what specific information you've got about him. At the moment the only notability asserted in the article is his notable family. If he's independently notable in his own right then please do go ahead and improve the article. If you're worried about it getting nominated for deletion, then I'd be happy to move it to draft space, where you could take as long as you like to improve it. Captain Calm (talk) 06:51, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions! If you can find any other citations, because the biographies are clearly written by them, it'd be awesome!

I was in the thought of deleting that article because I didn't write anything in it. Now, I'm going on with my work. Soon, I'll complete a detailed article and publish it. Conservation Mag - Adriaan Buys

[edit]

Hi @Captain Calm:, thank you very much for the detailed message you left on my talk page about the page Conservation Mag I created marked for speedy deletion. I spent a lot of time crafting, researching other similar pages to make sure the page is suitable for Wikipedia. Yes I am directly linked to the page, but I wanted to just put a short factual page there users can update. There was no page before. I have contested the removal. Can you please let me know what I can do to improve the page to stop deletion.— Preceding unsigned comment added by AdriaanBuys (talkcontribs)

@AdriaanBuys: Hello, I'd recommend that you wait for someone who isn't connected with your magazine to write about it. Instead, why not start one of the requested conservation and environment articles over at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Natural sciences/Environment and geology? Your expertise would be very welcome there. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 12:09, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Magnificent films production private limited

[edit]

Hey there, I'm glad to see that you tagged that article for deletion, but did you notice that it contains some unintentional humour? "Since its inception, the company has grown to be one of the smallest film studios in India." That's pretty impressive. --Slashme (talk) 08:19, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The two edit histories will have to be merged by an administrator, because you did a copy and paste to a new page, rather than move the existing page: see WP:Moving a page.
In fact, you posted about this here, so you were clearly already aware that that would be a problem. Captain Calm (talk) 14:50, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About "I Still Believe"

[edit]

Hi, Captain. It's nice to meey you. I'm WikiTimmy, but you can call me Tim. I am the one that is trying to create the page for that Disney song called "I Still Believe". I think it is a really good song, and I also believe that it is popular enough to deserve its own place on Wikipedia. if you're up for it, will you help me look for some sources so that we can make this possible? Thanks! WikiTimmy (talk)

Hello, I can't see how it meets the notability guidelines for songs as outlined in WP:NSONG, and I can't see sufficient sources for it online in a quick search. It's a nice song, but it apparently didn't make of an impact. But if you think it does meet those guidelines, then the best way to have a go is to add WP:reliable sources to Draft:I Still Believe (Hayden Panettiere song) to show its notability, then hitting the "Submit your draft for review" button. Good luck, Captain Calm (talk) 13:40, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Uzair Merchant Deletion response

[edit]

Hi! I am the creator of Uzair Merchant and bKreativ Productions! Please check the deletion page for Uzair Merchant. I do apologise for the articles not meeting the wikipedia standard as I am relatively new to Wikipedia editing. Will try to fix it with evidence of notability and sufficient coverage, ASAP!

Will change the article soon for your approval, soon!

PS: to prove notability+sufficient coverage, can we use other sources other than websites? (Aka: Laurels won, movie links etc). Is it okay if these come from official websites of said company?

Thanks once again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by GurmeetKRi8 (talkcontribs)

Dear Captain Calm, why you delete request to my Article? I was created "Rayhan Maditra Indrayanto" in wikipedia english version. He is a famous doctor in Indonesia. I want you for revision on Rayhan Maditra Indrayanto Article !!!!!!!!!!! 😑😑😑 Yemimas29 (talk) 05:54, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As I explained at your talk page, I haven't deleted it, I've simply moved it to Draft:Rayhan Maditra Indrayanto. Another editor nominated it for deletion, but I've declined this nomination. It's poorly sourced, and the article doesn't make it clear yet how he's notable apart from being married to someone notable. Please have a read of Wikipedia:Notability (people) for more information on how to improve the draft. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 05:57, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Re:Captain Calm Ok, For your information: He is a founder of MAKO TALK, a platform education base on Youtube n Instagram. And he created the plaform MAKO TALK in June 2020. So, how to created article is back? Please help.
Once you've reviewed the notability guidelines, improve Draft:Rayhan Maditra Indrayanto to show how he's notable enough for an article. Then press the blue button that says "Submit your draft for review". Once the article's been reviewed and accepted by other editors, it will be moved back to main article space. [edit]

Hi Captain, this is to alert you on the significance or relevance of the subject and article you nominated for SD.

This is my first article and I took time to follow the guidelines as I will be a regular on Wikipedia.

Hope this is enough information and I would urge remove the SD based on the facts list below.

1. The subject is notable in Ghana football with a high reputation in his industry spanning +10 years but yet not on Wikipedia 2. Content supported completely by facts published by reputable sources over 10 years 3. Subject a big success and a celebrated Ghanaian in a difficult football transfer industry. His story is important for Wikipedia 4. Creator only interested in African football and will follow up with articles on non-existent but important subjects in African football 5. Just stating facts with reliable references spanning a decade 6. Creator has no link whatsoever to subject and the content used 7. Subject and his company regarded leader in the football transfer industry in Ghana; creator was surprised subject not on Wikipedia 8. Subject successful and a leader in Ghana football and justifiably good for Wikipedia 9. Subject an important football industry player in Ghana

Please remove SD as this subject is important public figure in Ghana football with industry recognition.

Thanks

Abebi Alare (talk) 08:16, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the problem isn't that he's not important. The problem is that the article is written like an advert for him. If you have a professional connection with him, then I strongly suggest you not write about him on Wikipedia. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 08:19, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Captain, thanks for the message. I do not have any links to the subject. But, am confused - how it is an advert? How else can you write about a person on Wikipedia? Wanting to write about this sports agent, I followed the format of the page of Mino Raiola so I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Is there a problem researching a subject deeply before writing about them? Or Wikipedia wants scant information? Every information is supported by facts so could you let me understand why putting those facts out is promotional? Thanks

Abebi Alare (talk) 08:36, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Captain, please see major changes to article to reflect your comments/concerns. Hopefully you will see the neutrality and remove the SD. Thanks

Abebi Alare (talk) 09:46, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen them, thanks. Let's wait for an administrator to decide on whether or not to delete. Captain Calm (talk) 09:47, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Captain, this is very discouraging to new contributors like me when you place a SD and doesn't really care about fairness and the creator respecting your role and acting on your advise. Why can't you remove the SD? I took your advice and made changes to address the concerns and still. Is this not supposed to be a fair process?

Abebi Alare (talk) 14:19, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You made some changes, but the article still reads like a promotional piece from a magazine, and needs a complete re-write. Would you like me to move it to draft, so you can take your time improving it? Captain Calm (talk) 14:22, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Captain, I am not directly or indirectly compensated for this. Your latest tag is completely not true. The Wikipedia guidelines recommended changes to save an article that is why I made the changes to reflect your concerns. Everything on it is supported by facts as in the references. Why should Wikipedia expect new contributors to be perfect? I don't think I am interested in this Wikipedia adventure anymore. It is really discouraging Abebi Alare (talk) 16:53, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About your removal of my speedy deletion tag on that Pakistani village.

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to talk to you about you removing my speedy deletion tag. Are you aware that the page has already been deleted multiple times for the same reasons I tagged it? The person who created it has the same username as the article itself. How is this not self-promotion? Forgive me if I made a mistake. This is only my second time tagging an article for speedy deletion. Scorpions13256 (talk) 06:56, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and no worries about the tag. It didn't meet either of the WP:CSD criteria mentioned, but as an unsourced article about what must be a very small village, you could take it to WP:AFD. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 07:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your swift response. I did not think that anyone would dispute this tag. If the article still exists in the morning, I will take it to WP:AFD. I already reported the creator to WP:ANI because he had already been warned so many times for disrupting Wikipedia. I'm now debating whether this was the right thing to do. Scorpions13256 (talk) 07:11, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The article creator may well be acting in perfectly good faith: they may not have the language skills to understand why the article about their village has been repeatedly deleted. I've added an external link to the article from the article creator's sandbox, which lists a village called "Saroha". Captain Calm (talk) 07:16, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FreeState Justice

[edit]

Hi! I am, as you noted, affiliated with FSJ. For context, I noticed earlier today that the org doesn't have a wikipedia page, but that our predecessor org Equality Maryland does, and that the EQMD was flagged as being out of date, as it hadn't been updated since 2012. Without any sort of institutional mandate/assignment, I quickly used the EQMD page as a template for FreeState Justice, carrying over most of the relevant content from the EQMD page and adding a little bit of language about the FreeState Legal Project, which was the other predecessor org.

I'm happy to not do any additional edits on the page, but was just trying to make a quick fix to address the existing issue with the EQMD page. I would, however, suggest two additional fixes:

1) Redirect the Equality Maryland page to the FreeState Justice page, and 2) Edit the footer templates for Equality Federation and LGBT in Maryland to link to FreeState Justice instead of Equality Maryland.

Otherwise, I'll happily stay away from the page! Cphoffman (talk) 19:01, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Music festivals established in 2020 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Moving articles

[edit]

Hi! We met earlier at the Rukhsana Naz deletion discussion, I see that the article has now been moved to Murder of Rukhsana Naz. I have a couple of other similar articles which should be titled "The murder of.....", Rania Alayed and Surjit Athwal, but I'm not quite clear on the correct way to go about it. I know how to physically move the article and talk page, but is there anything else I need to do, or move, and should there be a conversation about it somewhere before it's done? :) I don't want to just charge in and move things if a) I'm only getting it half right, or b) I should be seeking some kind of consensus first. Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you. --DSQ (talk) 09:33, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I believe "Murder of..." is the convention for articles about murders, and "The Murder of..." is used for works (books, films, etc), such as The Murder of Stephen Lawrence. Captain Calm (talk) 04:00, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Me again! Do I need to seek consensus before I move them, or is it ok to just do it? They'd be pretty innocuous moves, but I wasn't sure if there's a procedure I should be following first. --DSQ (talk) 13:39, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, if in doubt you could always propose the move at the respective talk pages. There's certainly no need to hurry with this, and a week or so of waiting fir consensus will do no harm. What do you think? Captain Calm (talk) 13:42, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Captain Calm, I understand you suspect the content was promotional, however, it is a business unit operates under Frasers Group which I believe it is notable. And I do apologise if the article didn't meet the criteria as I am fairly new to Wiki although I have spent a bit of time on reading the guidelines, but still not aware of all the rules yet. See CSD A7." Captain Calm (talk) 13:27, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Religion, particularly Islam, has traditionally been a powerful force in Egyptian politics, society, and culture. Prior to the Islamic conquest, Saint Mark the Evangelist brought Christianity to Egypt in the 1st century CE, and Alexandria became one of the most important Christian centers in the world. It split from the larger Christian Church at the Council of Chalcedon in 451, establishing itself as the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, which remains an important force in Egyptian religious culture to the present. In 639, Islam and the Arabic language were introduced to Egypt by the Muslim Arabs. Throughout the subsequent centuries, Sunni Islam blended with indigenous beliefs and practices, giving birth to the various Sufi orders that can still be found to this day. The Shi’a Fatimid Caliphate (909-1171) conquered Egypt in the late 10th century and founded the city of Cairo, which developed into one of the most important political and intellectual centers of the Muslim world. The founding of the Ayyubid Dynasty by Saladin in 1174 signaled a shift from Shi’a to Sunni political predominance and propelled Muslim forces to turn the tide against Christian crusaders in the Holy Land. The Mamluks, a Turco-Circassian military caste, came to power in 1250, and continued to rule even after Ottoman Turks conquered Egypt in 1517. Both the Mamluks and the Ottoman Empire emphasized state control over the ulema religious leadership. While legally protected under the Millet system of the Ottoman Empire, minority religious communities were also discriminated against. 👀Gremista.32 (talk) 06:56, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Splicing and dicing

[edit]

It's too late for Maharashtra Students Welfare Association but {{histmerge}} has the |details= parameter to let you explain how to deal with overlapping histories. I'm not sure it would have helped with that page though since at the time you made the request either there was no overlapping history or the single overlapping edit had been made in the last minute, so you probably didn't notice.

Note that using the details parameter is just advice to the history-merging admin. I've had at least one turned down due to overlapping history despite what I thought was a thorough explanation using |details=. Andy Appleyard is one of the few who specialize in this area and he's been at it awhile, so when it comes to judgment calls, he's earned my trust, even if I disagree with him in particular cases. Andy, if you are watching, history splits and merges are one of the few reasons I might want to ask for the mop someday - there is a need for more specialists in this area. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 13:23, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted pages

[edit]

Why you removed the Wikipedia pages I made please bring them back they are not copied from someware,i will edit them if you are having any problem but please bring bak those Wikipedia pages and don't delete them. Why you delted the content I added on Skbm Degree College everything in the contest was well sourced.— Preceding unsigned comment added by User_34567890 (talkcontribs)

@User 34567890: Hello, the two articles you created were deleted because they were copied from a blog online, and the blog was copyrighted. Wikipedia can't host copyrighted content, for legal reasons.
I removed some (but not all) of your additions to SKBM Degree College. The copyrighted text you copied from your reference had to be removed for legal reasons, and the parts that weren't supported by the reference you gave were WP:Original research. Another editor already explained at your talk page that your experience at the college is original research, and all your additions must be supported by a reliable source. Thanks. Captain Calm (talk) 12:06, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please bring back the Wikipedia pages I made I will edut them and make them correct according to Wikipedia gaudlines. User 34567890 (talk) 14:30, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, an administrator won't undelete copyrighted content, for legal reasons. Please, write it in your own words. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 15:37, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Amber Martinez templates

[edit]

Hello. If you wouldn't mind, I'd very much appreciate it if you checked the changes that have been made to Amber Martinez to see if they have corrected the issues you originally added the templates for, as I am not sure whether they should now be removed as another user has suggested, as I am relatively inexperienced. Thank you very much in advance, Swadge2 (talk) 13:44, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good to me, thanks. Captain Calm (talk) 13:47, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Sorry but I don't understand: which citations do you mean? Captain Calm (talk) 17:34, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The papierfabrik louisenthal Nippon 725 (talk) 19:42, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ah I see. Yes I removed those citations because they were WP:CIRCULAR references to Wikipedia. We can't use Wikipedia to reference itself. I left a short summary about that in my edit, which you can see in the page history. Captain Calm (talk) 19:44, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed...

By creating the redirect CenterStage you have created a problem at Template:Greater Richmond Region. Could you please make sure that the link there to CenterStage will be pointing to the right theatre instead of to a disambiguation page? The Banner talk 20:29, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've disambiguated the link at the template, and added Richmond CenterStage to the disambiguation page. Thanks, Captain Calm (talk) 20:55, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
