Tracy descendent[edit]

Hi Jim,

I believe I am a descendent of the tract you write about in this article. My Aunt (named Tracy) had done extensive research on this subject and believes she can trace our roots back to William de Sudeley. I was wondering where you get your information from and what your interest is in this subject? I am trying to put together a Tracy family reunion for the summer of 2018 in Toddington. I would love to find more relatives and include everyone in in the fun! I don't really know how to use this talk thing. Could you email me? Akingcsi@aol.com

Thank you in advance, Adrienne Tracy King

Cars 3[edit]

The reason I included the Guardian article is because they have mentioned that Pixar hasn't confirmed the news just yet. I don't really like to say that a film will be made on only the say-so of one actor when the company itself hasn't actually said that the film will be made. I've seen it happen where an actor involved with the film, sometimes even someone who would be considered to be a good source, will claim that something will definitely get made only for the film to never actually come to fruition. Sometimes it's just that someone was told something along the lines that something will likely happen and they took it to be truth. It could just be that they told Wallis that it was likely to happen and that they'll need him to research for now, but haven't actually confirmed anything. That's why I wanted to include that Pixar hasn't confirmed anything, which is what I really want in the article more than anything else. I'm just uncomfortable saying "yes this will happen" when only one person is saying that it will happen and the company itself isn't saying anything at all. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 17:17, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

But, we don't claim that the film will be made or that Pixar has confirmed anything. The original quote is "Cars 3, we're coming back to the road. And we're coming back to 66 into 99. That's the road that runs right through central California." So, Wallis thinks that the third film will be made, and that is what it is reported. Nothing more. No unnecessary commentaries, which add nothing new to the article. Anybody can interpret his words as he/she wants, including in the way you wrote above.
Actually, I don't mind a commentary that Pixar has nothing confirmed so far. Because this is true and has a source. I have a problem with several other things:
  • "In mid-October 2013 The Guardian reported..." and "Pixar has not yet confirmed reports..." - The Guardian was not the first which reported about Wallis (actually it was 2 months late). Reports also do not matter, as the original source was Radio WGBZ and Wallis himself.
  • "that there were rumors..." - this is not a rumor. Wallis said something in an interview and his words are fact.
  • "production would soon begin." - this is not what Wallis said in the interview...
In addition, there are exclusive reports daily on various news portals. Should we add any time we cite them "but X hasn't confirmed anything yet"?--Carniolus (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Just a heads up[edit]

I noticed you uploaded the original work from which I made derivatives from. The reason I didn't upload the original is because WP:WATERMARK forbids freely licensed images from being uploaded with a watermark, which is why I used derivatives. The copyrighted "Disney" and "Dolby" logos are also prominently displayed on the original which could inhibit free-use as well. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that, so just letting you know in case an admin notices it and opens a deletion review. DrNegative (talk) 17:04, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

I don't think logos will be a problem as there are plenty of similar Disney and Dolby logos on Commons. Maybe only a proper license is missing. Regarding the watermark, I don't think Commons has a very strict rule that forbids watermarks. For example, on Removing watermarks, it says that watermarks "are generally discouraged," while the guideline for watermarks is currently only in a proposed state. There is a category on Commons with many similarly watermarked photos, which have been tagged for watermark removal, but not for deletion.--Carniolus (talk) 20:11, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Geri's Game shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. DBaK (talk) 00:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. I am baffled by what they are doing and I've just wasted, I fear, a chunk of my life looking at old MovieWeb pages. I've made one WP:AGF-ish attempt in case they are, I don't know, in some difficulty with what they're trying to achieve - but if that gets nowhere I think it needs admin help to stop them and protect us from the timewasting. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 13:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Disney vandalism from Vietnam[edit]

Hey Carniolus, I saw your revert here at Disney Television Animation. On a hunch I did a geolocate on the IP, which is located in Vietnam. Have you seen this article? Virtually the entire thing is a wall of gibberish "contributed" by Vietnamese vandals, or so I presume. Just a heads-up. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:55, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello Carnolius,

I don't understand your comment about the official logo I've uplodaded for the TV series Angelo Rules. Would you mind explaining me clearly what's the matter? I would be pleased to fix it. Same for the logo Plankton Invasion. Thank you, Constance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Constance Lassort (talkcontribs) 11:59, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi! There is nothing to fix :) Your Angelo Rules logo was replaced with a transparent version, which looks better in the infobox. Since your logo is a non-free file that is not used anymore, it needs to be deleted from Wikipedia. By the way, your image was too big for a non-free file: WP:Image resolution.
Regarding the Plankton Invasion logo - I've only moved it into the infobox, which is the usual place for a logo.--Carniolus (talk) 14:26, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, Carniolus. I've been trying to find an image of the Marvel Music logo for the article's infobox. Hi. Yes, you are right, this logo is not stored in the vector format. It seems like that Marvel is quite protective of its own logos, since I've tried several times to find one for Marvel Studios, but without luck so far.--Carniolus (talk) 13:44, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

August 2014[edit]

Could you please explain what you mean by "Third-party sources must themselves discuss about those 'historical inaccuracies'"? Wikipuser777 (talk) 20:50, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi. On Wikipedia, we can't draw our own conclusions, so we can cover only what is explicitly written in reliable sources. Sources you added don't discuss about historical inaccuracies in the film, and at least one of them is not reliable, since it can be edited by anyone. For more information, please see WP:ORIGINAL and WP:ORIGINALSYN.--Carniolus (talk) 21:20, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi, but both sources are from Encyclopaedia Britannica, which is widely regarded as a reputable source. Furthermore, the articles confirmed what really happened in history. Wikipuser777 (talk) 22:41, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Wikipuser777 is now blocked for edit warring, but nonetheless: the sources must discuss the movie and its inaccuracies. For them to compare the movie with the Brittanica and say "this or that is inaccurate", that's the definition of original research. In addition, Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an animated sci-fi movie for kids, so this is all kind of trivial to begin with. One might as well take issue with the very first clause of the very first sentence of the plot summary: "Mr. Peabody is a talking dog". Wikipuser--dogs don't talk. At least not in English. Drmies (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sony Pictures Animation[edit]

Upon closer inspection, it looks like this is a case of persistent addition of unsourced content. I have semi-protected the page to prevent further disruption. It would be helpful, however, if you labeled your reverts as "removed unsourced claim" or the like, and not "vandalism". The edits appear more like a content dispute, not outright vandalism. This lead me to believe this was an all too common edit war. I did my own research, however, and the IP's additions appeared to be mere unsourced original research. Next time, do not continually revert other's changes and clutter the page history. Simply report the user or the page to WP:RPP and wait for preventive measures to be put in place. Thanks — MusikAnimal talk 16:03, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Edits to Planes: Fire & Rescue[edit]

  • The amount of text that I added is not particularly out-of-scale. As the weeks pass after this film was released, many users will likely add plot details. How much plot matter to add, will likely keep on being a bone of contention :: often one man's trivia is another man's important relevant matter.
  • I bold-faced the characters' names in the list of actors because they were hard to pick out otherwise.
Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:01, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Problems:
  • What does the quote add to the plot?
  • WP:FILMPLOT clearly says: "Plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words". Since this film is not "unconventional", "the summary should not exceed the range."
  • "Voice actors" header is redundant as every actor in this film is a voice actor.
  • Roles are never bolded as per WP:FILMCAST: "Also, per Wikipedia's Manual of Style on boldface, please limit boldface to table headers and captions. Actors and roles should not be bolded."

  • OK, I have removed the "voice actors" line and the boldfacing. I have seen film plot descriptions a great variety of lengths. Some people want the detail. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:23, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
I can't say if those details are necessary or not (the quote definitely is not), since I haven't seen the film, but from my experience, such a lengthy plot is just a few expansions away from being stripped down again to a bare minimum - much less than 700 words - or it will be stuck with an "over-detailed plot" note forever. This can be prevented only if every over-limit expansion is automatically reverted.--Carniolus (talk) 21:57, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
  • This looks like running into the endless war again between inclusionists and exclusionists. This depends on whether there is a link to a website elsewhere which describes the plot in more detail. For example, long descriptions of plots in Star Trek and Stargate etc episodes is not so much needed in Wikipedia because those serieses each have their own wikis. Inclusion of The Incredibles Franchise in Template:Pixar[edit]

Well hi there User:Carniolus. I hope you remember me. Anyways you say that only existing articles should be there in navboxes. That is indeed true but that is not a rigidly strict rule. I suggest you take another look at WP:EXISTING, it says that a red link can be created as long as it is very likely to be made into an article. Incredibles (franchise) definitely satisfies that exception. It is notable, article stuff and is definitely going to be made sooner or later. Thus i think it is eligible for inclusion in the navbox. Plus it is going to help find someone willing to make an article on it. Someone might look at it and create an article through the link. And, anyways, it's not going to hurt anyone, is it?. King Of The Wise (talk) 09:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I don't think that a franchise article will be created any time soon. The Incredibles 2 does not even have a release date, and according to the List of Pixar films, it can't be released before 2017. Even then it would be too soon, since a franchise article with two films released can't offer almost no additional value. In my opinion (and some other editors agree: Talk:Rio 2#Rio film series) we should wait for a third film or maybe a television series, before we create the franchise article. This means that the Pixar's navigation box would have a red link for at least three years, and if we wait for the third film, maybe forever.--Carniolus (talk) 11:39, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Um, er, well, er (Man, i am completely at a loss off words!). Well I reckon that by the time you read this you might have already seen what all I have already done since creating this section on your talk page. But Finding Nemo too has a Franchise page. It also has just two films and is not going to be released anytime soon. And anyways the franchise article can be created anytime (any article can be created anytime if it is about a notable and confirmed title with enough references supporting it). Plus I think we have enough material to fill the franchise page, just like the Finding Nemo Franchise page. The Franchise page, aferrall, is not only about the films. We have got Video Games, Merchandise, Short Films and much more. I think we can indeed create (unless some idiot has already done so :p) a franchise page with a summaritical info of all this. King Of The Wise (talk) 12:23, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Video games, merchandise, one short film... do not make something a franchise. All that is standard media which supplements almost all animated films. Currently, the franchise article for The Incredibles would contain exactly the same information that is already in the film's article, only condensed, and would be therefore redundant. A franchise article's role is to tie many articles together, and offer readers some additional value, like tables where various data can be compared. The Finding Nemo franchise is one such example of an article, which gives no additional information...--Carniolus (talk) 21:15, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Vietnam IP Disney vandals[edit]

Hi Carniolus, saw your recent reversions at a couple of Disney articles including here. I don't understand the background behind it, but I've been dealing with a vandal/or vandals who vandalizes obscure Disney articles from Vietnam-based IPs, typically out of Ha Noi. The edits you reverted were part of their campaign. I mentioned them to you before on your talk page several months ago. Anyhow, if you're curious about the scope of the disruption, please see this list. Thanks for your eagle-eyed reversions! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:54, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Yeah, I've noticed that those edits are coming from the same editor. It is getting annoying to have to continuously revert same edits day after day. Since banning an editor with dynamic IPs is impossible, I am surprised that no one has already protected those articles. Next time the vandal returns, I'll automatically request for protection. And thanks for your anti-vandalism work too!--Carniolus (talk) 20:21, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. We have incoming drafts to you for the following:
Draft:Cuppy (animated series)
Draft:Astig
Draft:Demolition Job
If you don't know when the publish an draft to article. Please let me know. Thank you. Lara Maigue (talk) 14:39, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Please don't be too quick with creating new articles for television shows that are not notable. As it was explained by a reviewer of Astig, you have to have reliable references to "adequately evidence the subject's notability." Since Cuppy is just a 1-minute short film with no coverage on the internet, and "Astig" and "Demolition Job" are two Philippine television shows that are not particularly notable for the English Wikipedia, I don't think that any of those articles is worthy to be created.--Carniolus (talk) 19:29, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks four your concern. No, I did not want her to do that, but apparently the page was too slow to load, so I left her additions alone. I've tweaked some settings and restored this year's topics, so I think everything should be set up properly now.--Carniolus (talk) 19:42, 25 October 2014 (UTC)

Avenger2015[edit]

Hi Carniolus, I saw your edit here where you re-added some of the cast to the article. I'm not going to revert your edit, but I hoping to encourage you to reconsider for the following reasons: 1) The infobox contains a list of the most important actors. 2) The List of Characters articles contains all the noteworthy character info. 3) We've had problems with a sockpuppeting user, [Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Avenger2015/Archive Avenger2015] adding ponderous lists of every character large or small who appeared in various TV series. Even a minor list is a cruft magnet as is evident here, here and here. If you're not interested in removing the list, I might counter-propose that the content be presented in prose, so as not to visually entice list cruft. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:12, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

New logos[edit]

Hello, Carniolus. Could you do me the favor of uploading some more SVG vector images for me?

I've noticed that Frozen (franchise) needs an all-encompassing logo, so I thought we could use the one I found here on Page 3 (with Disney's logo included, to match other articles like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Muppets). Also, could you upload two updated logos for Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone Pictures, found here on Page 10 and here on Page 36, respectively. I'd be much obliged for the help, thank you! ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 00:59, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Regarding the Frozen logo, here on page 65 is another version which you may consider. The other two logos are on their way.--Carniolus (talk) 08:15, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
By the way, what is your opinion regarding the Lion King logo from the above link? Is it better than the picture of the Blu-ray box on its franchise page?--Carniolus (talk) 08:37, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
The updated Walt Disney Pictures and Touchstone logos are perfect! The Frozen and Lion King logos you found are definitely far more suitable representations for their respective franchise pages than what is currently being used, so you have my blessing on that (in fact, that Frozen logo is the exact same one that's used on all of the franchise's merchandising products) Thanks again!. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 20:48, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

"Anime is not a genre"[edit]

According to who? The definition of genre within art history is largely contentious and I believe that those who like myself benefit from Category pages would be thankful for Animation to be in Film genres... (which is why I placed it there) If not for purely pragmatic benefit, the denotative definition of genre is "a style or category of art, music, or literature." Under what operative definition would animation not be considered a category of art Clorisu (talk) 09:41, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Penguins of Madagascar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Disintegrating (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please elaborate[edit]

Please elaborate on your rather terse edit summary here. Thank you. Ashanda (talk) 09:24, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

1. Apart from the plot summary, everything else must be sourced in a film article: WP:MOSFILM. Most "eras, people & places" are not mentioned in the film, but only shown, so you've made your own conclusions what is the name of a certain person, era or place. That is against WP:ORIGINAL, which demands "reliable, published sources that are directly related to the topic of the article."
2. In my opinion, this list also falls under WP:TRIVIA, which says that lists of isolated information should be avoided.
I am not against this kind of information, in fact, it would be interesting if the article could tell something about the number of places, eras or people that the film shows. But, it should have reliable sources (which establish notability of the subject), and it should be written in a prose.--Carniolus (talk) 09:44, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
@Carniolus: Thank you for your reply. To address your final point first, I should point out that notability only applies to the subject of an article; not to its content, which needs only pass verifiability.
Your interpretation of MOS:FILM is mistaken. All content everywhere in the encyclopedia is subject to WP:V, regardless of whether it's in a plot summary or not. That manual of style only emphasizes the plot summary because it's the section most likely subject to be attacked by people who misinterpret WP:PRIMARY. Non-interpretive description of primary source material elsewhere is most certainly allowed by the guidelines and policies.
With only a very few exceptions, the entries in the embedded list I added to the article were explicitly mentioned, either by voice or writing, in the film itself. I would, however, agree that removal of those exceptions (i.e. Columbus's first voyage, Last glacial period, Selma to Montgomery marches, United States Declaration of Independence, Mayflower Compact, Plymouth Rock, Magna Carta, Birth of Jesus, Queen Victoria, & RMS Titanic) might be appropriate.
I do not see the section as trivia, rather I see it as related topic navigational aid -- sort of a "See also" addendum to the plot summary. Working all of the items into the prose of the plot summary would itself be a guidelines violation by making the summary far too long and unwieldy.
Also, I wonder whether I unintentionally provoked you by reverting your own edit here. I do apologize if I hurt your feelings, but the reason you gave in your edit summary was not factual. The characters and actors are not only clearly listed in the film's credits, they're also listed in the citations already in the article for the other cast members. Let's remember we're here to improve the encyclopedia, not keep it static nor tear it down.
Thank you for reading. Please let me know whether you think removing the listings I mentioned constitute a suitable compromise. Ashanda (talk) 15:02, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Nevermind. I've turned it into a more familiar "See also" section and eliminated redundant links. Tell me if you like what you see now. Thanks! Ashanda (talk) 18:55, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
I think there is a guide that says that articles that are linked in the body should not be linked again in the see also section. Anyway, I believe that this list and the list you had originally added could be better incorporated into the article as a production information. It would be great if we could find reliable sources that say how many historic figures, places, eras are presented in the film. We could also list them there (except for figures, which are already listed in voice cast section), but only if there are reliable sources, which decide for us which information is notable enough.--Carniolus (talk) 19:40, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
First, regarding your plot expansion, do you know that the summary now exceeds the limit by over 400 words? WP:FILMPLOT says that it should not be over 700 words long, unless the film's structure is unconventional. So lengthy summary won't stay here for long, and sooner or later someone will restore the shorter version.--Carniolus (talk) 19:19, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Your point about the length of the plot summary is well taken, although trimming up the current version rather than restoring the previous, error riddled version, would really make more sense. I may get to that in a bit. I don't understand the points you made in the previous paragraph, though. I already did eliminate redundant links. If you, or someone, can work those that are left into prose sections of the article, that would be great, but would likely need reliable sources, as you say. We two seem to still be differently interpreting how WP:PRIMARY applies here, every one of the listings is explicitly mentioned or shown in the film, without any interpretation necessary. And, again, WP:N only applies to article subjects, not the contents of articles -- i.e. notability is something discussed at WP:AfD, not typically on talk pages. Again, thank you for reading, and for keeping the discussion civil. Ashanda (talk) 20:49, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for trimming up the plot. While I think it is now very well written (maybe a few paragraphs are too short and should be merged), I am afraid that it won't stay in this form for long, since plot summaries are the most edited parts of film articles. While there are a few more links in the see also section that are also linked in the plot section (Mona Lisa, Ajax), I think that all the remaining characters can be also sourced and moved into the cast section. As you've said, some of the listings were shown and not mentioned in the film, which means it is up to an interpretation what is the name of a particular person, era, place. Because of that and to avoid searching through the movie every time someone adds a new item, I would prefer if everything would have a source. Regarding the notability, I believe that article contents should also be notable (=have sources), or how else could we decide what deserves to be included in an article.--Carniolus (talk) 18:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

well it means that I you watched the video and listed carefully he said there only productions where 3 films you may have an excuse for the t.v. show but what about the prince of eypet — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.188.93.2 (talk) 21:45, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Again, this video was made by an amateur, so there is no point discussing what he says there. Both, the TV show and The Prince of Egypt, have more credible sources attached to them and you should read them first. For Adventures from the Book of Virtues, the show's executive producer explicitly says that Fox Animation Studios from Phoenix worked on the show. And for Prince of Egypt, there is a credit published in the Sight & Sound, the official magazine of British Film Institute, which says that Fox Animation Studios worked on "additional final line animation".--Carniolus (talk) 22:13, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Vandalism warnings[edit]

Thanks for your work reverting vandalism. However, could I ask you to issue more warnings? Looking at the history of Template:Finding Nemo in particular, I see you reverting several IPs whose talk pages are still red links. I came to that history from the contributions of the latest IP, who could have been blocked already if they'd received the full sequence of warnings for their vandalism. Disney franchises[edit]

Good evening Carniolus (I'll also tag @Mediran: as they have done some incredible work here too). I have a proposition for you. Since you seem to have some expertise in the area of Pixar franchise articles, I wondered if you might like to lend a hand to a flurry of Disney franchise articles which I have created barebones stubs for? These properties should have had articles created a long time ago, and the lack of such articles has led to film articles becoming filled with information about sequels and video games and broadway musicals, which simply take up space and clutter the page. So any help you could provide big or small - content- or organisation-wise would be awesome. There may be some further opportunities for articles depending on the extent of each property's reach. These are the articles if you wanted to take a peek:--Coin945 (talk) 17:49, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi! This is a lot of franchises! :) The first thing I must say is that I am already involved in the franchises that I am familiar with or interested in. Most of these franchises/films that you have listed I have not even seen yet :) At first glance, I think that some of them (Brother Bear, Lady and the Tramp, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, Tangled..) don't need their own franchise articles. At least not yet - we know that Disney is franchising nowadays everything that it can. Anyway, I'll see how I can help. Cheers!--Carniolus (talk) 19:38, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
Haha fair enough. And we are all volunteers after all. I just wanted to bring your attention to them, in case you weren't aware of some franchise articles being created on some of your favourite Disney films. You're right. Those probably don't deserve an article just yet (despite all receiving a direct-to-video of theatrical - in the case of The Rescuers - sequel). That's why I haven't touched them yet. But with the new TV series and upcoming stage musical in the works, I figured it was time to create the Tangled article. At any rate, I've found it's a nice way to compile all the redlinks into one page (as some people don't want them in templates), so we know at a glance what still needs to be created. So yeah, if any of those take your fancy, don't hesitate to drop by some time. No pressure. :)--Coin945 (talk) 20:32, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

No. There is no way that anybody who wanted to visit DreamWorks or Dreamwork would accidentally land on DreamWorks Animation. You end up on DreamWorks Animation only if you type the company's full name or open the appropriately labelled link. Both cases contain the word "animation" which leaves no doubt that the article they are going to open is not about a dream analysis or about a company that does NOT work on animated films.--Carniolus (talk) 06:27, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

SPA and Goosebumps[edit]

Hey Carniolus. I've looked at your AIV report and it looks like the user's trying to list Sony Pictures Animation as a production studio for Goosebumps. I've done some looking around and while information is scarce to back this up, they are in fact listed as a producer on the film's poster, so that's probably what the editor's basing it on. So you should probably either restore the edits they're trying to make or give some sort of expanded reasoning for your objections rather than a templated warning; I'm not exactly knowledgeable in this area but the editor doesn't appear to be incorrect or acting in bad faith. Best regards. Swarm we ♥ our hive 19:01, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi! Yeah, according to the poster, it looks like that Sony Pictures Animation has lent its label to the film. But, the editor should be more cooperative, and provide this source and wrote an edit summary since the beginning. I still have doubts that SPA is correctly credited for this film, since there was not a single reliable report that SPA is in any way involved in this film. SPA also does not list this film under their Upcoming Films. Anyway, I will readd the studio, together with a link to the poster. Thanks.--Carniolus (talk) 19:21, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at The Originals (TV series) & The Good Dinosaur shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Callmemirela {Talk} 17:11, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for the warning! You can give one to yourself, too. Four reverts in less than 18 hours: 1, 2, 3, 4.--Carniolus (talk) 17:20, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Uhm... That was from June... Not July. Second of all, I've been more cautious since my block. Thridly, at least I didn't edit war with the same user on two articles, like you did.... Callmemirela {Talk} 17:26, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
The rule you cited above does not say that is only valid in July... Second, I am also more "cautious" since five minutes ago. Thirdly, this warning says that an editor must "not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period", so it is also valid for you. :)--Carniolus (talk) 17:33, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

I am not sure why you keep deleting my movie listed in the Animated 2017 list section[edit]

Dear Carniolus,

I am not sure why you keep deleting my Animated Movie list. It is a valid movie, which will be in the movie theaters 2017. Please advise. Thank you.

You need to provide a reliable third-party source to prove that 1. this is not some hoax film, 2. it will be released in 2017, and 3. it will have a theatrical release.--Carniolus (talk) 21:40, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Despicable me[edit]

Hello, you're wrong, like on all wiki pages and legally, the nationality of a film depends on the nationality of the producers (what you just wrote doesn't make sense for the owners are the producers). See IMDB page for this film. The Mac Guff studio was French when it produced the film (the fact that the film was made entirely in France does not matter). After the film'success, Guff was bought by Illumination Entertainement. For Despicable Me, there are 3 producers, 2 American and 1 French. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Herve.toullec (talkcontribs) 10:20, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

BFI disagrees with you, and IMDb is not reliable anyway, as it can be edited by anyone. Illumination Entertainment is credited for the production, not Mac Guff, which was only hired for a job. Illumination Entertainment and its parent financed the film, so it is theirs = American, and not French. They own the rights, they called all the shots and they had rights to choose subcontractors for animation, music, marketing... Just like DisneyToon Studios, which hires Indian Prana Studios for all their films, but this does not make them Indian.--Carniolus (talk) 11:12, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I replaced this logo with the new version that's been in use by the Belgian Olympic Committee since 2014 per a request at WP:FFU. Its unfortunate that the new image is not in .svg format like this one, but it is newer and the old logo is no longer in use, so the article should be updated. I'm wondering if you converted the old logo to .svg format yourself and, if so, if you'd be willing to do the same for the new one? Just a thought... Cheers, Nick—Contact/Contribs 04:36, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi! No, I don't do conversions because it is impossible to make them completely the same as originals. Instead, I search for pdfs and extract logos that are already vectorized. I've tried to find the new logo, but no luck so far. But, I am sure that by the next Olympic games there will be plenty pdfs with the new logo.--Carniolus (talk) 20:15, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Regarding your edit-summary at Tangled[edit]

"Still unsourced and still not notable for the lead section". The fact that the film was a box-office success is fully sourced and I consider it important. I have supplied an RS from Variety with quotes attesting to these facts. Please see the talkpage of the article for more details. I will restore these facts to the lead if you do not provide a proper explanation. Dr.K. (talk) 16:29, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

You will restore unsourced content? And I am not talking about its "box-office success".--Carniolus (talk) 16:32, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Is that a rhetorical question? Definitely not. My comment about reverting was confined strictly to the info contained in the RS. I agree with your removal of the cameos. Dr.K. (talk) 16:38, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Then you should not revert entire edit in the fist place.--Carniolus (talk) 16:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Zootopia cast sources[edit]

Just so you know, the "Oh My Disney" blog post was deleted. So the newly announced voice cast for Zootopia will need new sources. I found a new source; https://www.flayrah.com/6268/full-cast-zootopia-revealed but I'm not familiar with how to make the "ref name" tag work to use it multiple times.Wikicontributor12 (talk) 00:46, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Actually, here is a better source, http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2015/10/25/zootopia-jk-simmons-tommy-chong/74369682/Wikicontributor12 (talk) 06:07, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the source. The old one has been replaced. It looks like that the USA Today article was intended to be the exclusive one, but Disney published the list too soon on its site. I bet that they will restore the post back soon.--Carniolus (talk) 15:03, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Addition in discography[edit]

In Hans Zimmer's discography can you include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales (2017); Directed by Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg; Studio- Walt Disney Pictures , Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

The Pirates 5 page lists Hans Zimmer as the composer but it's not mentioned in his discography, so please include it and fix the discrepancy. Darth Vishius (talk) 21:12, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has no source for the composer, and IMDb does not list him, so I have removed him from there until someone provides a reliable source.--Carniolus (talk) 21:30, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

November 2015[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at List of Walt Disney Animation Studios films shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Shaun the Sheep Movie[edit]

Hi, Carniolus. We've agreed in the past, on this article's talk page, about edits to Shaun the Sheep Movie. Now, though, since there's been so much back-and-forth on the box office, I've restored the status quo of the longest-standing version and initiated an RfC. I invite you to comment and ask that the status quo version that was in place for months before an anon-IP change in September be respected. With thanks, --~~

IP vandal making up information[edit]

Explain yourself, or get blocked for edit warring. Materialscientist (talk) 22:24, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

It is already explained on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection.--Carniolus (talk) 22:25, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Negative. Additions are sourced and do not appear as WP:OR. Materialscientist (talk) 22:27, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
Every single article has this sentence: "But is beyond question due to the lot of pressure." That is clearly unsupported speculation.--Carniolus (talk) 22:28, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
You could rewrite that. Why do you keep reverting? Materialscientist (talk) 22:31, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
It does not need a rewrite - the sequel is not happening. The last info is from early this year, when the producer of Tangled said that the directors were not interested. Nothing has changed since then, so there is no information to have.--Carniolus (talk) 22:33, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
That's what I thought - it does not allow you to mark edits as vandalism, use dispute resolution routes. Materialscientist (talk) 22:37, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
They were not marked at first as vandalism, but this editor has been returning now for a few weeks. The Tangled‎ article was already protected because of this. And I already did use one of these routes but there was no response to that: Talk:List of Walt Disney Animation Studios films#Edit war. This is the same editor, and as you can see, he deliberately added made-up release dates like "2022", which means that he does not have good intentions .Therefore his edits cannot be marked any differently than as a vandalism.--Carniolus (talk) 22:50, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Jay Baruchel[edit]

Hi, i just wanted to inform you that Jay Baruchel was indeed born in Montreal, Quebec, not in Toronto, Ottawa. To be more specific he was born in the area called Notre-Dame-de-Grace or simply NDG witch is an anglophone area in Montreal-Ouest. I know because i also am a Montrealer and a proud one. Just make sure you verify at the right place for the info. He lived in Montreal up to 2015 when he decided to move to Toronto for politics reason (here in Montreal, anglo and french still fight, politically speaking, about the language and the felling french have about anglo trying to not respect french people... not my opinion, i have nothing against anyone, but just so you know). I adore Jay Baruchel and i am really proud that he is from the same town as me, as i also am very sad he left, no disrespect, just love : ) See on ET Canada for sources http://www.etcanada.com/blogs/etc_142190/jay-baruchel-why-he-moved-from-montreal-to-toronto-i-fell-in-love-with-it/tv/

In trying to make the article more concise, you made the narrative too disjointed and the tone too abrupt. If you can't see that, we have a problem.

Hello, Carniolus. Could you upload for me the Jungle Book logo (page 3) for use in the main infobox at The Jungle Book (Disney franchise)? Thanks. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 02:19, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I've uploaded the logo without the Disney's name. If you think that the name should be also included, please say so, and I will change it.--Carniolus (talk) 08:33, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
Hey! Thanks for the upload. I think the Disney logo should be included since Disney branding is always included in merchandise/marketing. Also, on an unrelated note, I found vector images we could use to update/upload for the 20th Century Fox logo on page 12 and the Walden Media and The Kennedy/Marshall Company logos on page 2 and 16. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 02:53, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi! Great finds! I have replaced the Jungle Book logo, and added the 20th Century Fox and Walden Media logos. The Kennedy/Marshall Company seems to be an old version or at least different from the one that is being used today officially: website, Twitter, and Facebook. The old version had been already uploaded here on Wikipedia, but in 2013 someone replaced it with the new one, which was later deleted. I have uploaded again the old version to Commons, just in case if someone wants to use it until someone finds the new one in the vector format. Cheers!--Carniolus (talk) 14:01, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

List of Walt Disney Animation Studios films[edit]

That's why James and the Giant Peach was listed as an "associated production". Walt Disney Pictures owned the rights to do it, and they hired Selick to do it (the same guy who did The Nightmare Before Christmas, which (incidentally) was also not animated by Walt Disney Animation Studios, but is an associated production because Walt Disney produced the film). Please stop edit warring to make the article how you wish it to be. It was a Walt Disney production, just like Nightmare, and was produced by the same people as Nightmare. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 22:54, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

The article's title is "List of Walt Disney Animation Studios films". So, in this article we list films that were either produced by WDAS, or WDAS contributed to them in any way. For now, there is no proof that WDAS worked on James and the Giant Peach at all.--Carniolus (talk) 06:30, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
Have you ever watched the film? It has Walt Disney all over in the credits. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 18:59, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Walt Disney or Walt Disney Animation Studios (Walt Disney Feature Animation)? If it was animated by WDAS, it belongs on the List of Walt Disney Animation Studios films. If it was animated by any other studio and it was released by Disney, it belongs on the List of Disney theatrical animated features.--Carniolus (talk) 19:17, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps you should open a discussion on the talk page of the article? Nightmare wasn't animated by Disney (hint: it was animated by the same people who did James). Neither were several of the others in that list. They are associated films, as indicated by the section they are in. They aren't listed in the main list for a reason. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:25, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
The article of The Nightmare Before Christmas says "Walt Disney Feature Animation contributed with some use of second-layering traditional animation." So, The Nightmare is an associated production. As for James and the Giant Peach, there is no proof that WDAS contributed to it at all.--Carniolus (talk) 19:29, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Logo for Voltron[edit]

The logo has always been standard for cartoon pages, cite Steven Universe, Miraculous Ladybug, Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time. The posters have only been used for stuff without logos. I put the logo back to keep the standard. The poster should be put further down in the article, maybe. 148.75.114.68 (talk) 20:50, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

Logos and posters are copyrighted, so they are generally only allowed to be used in infoboxes. Any other use will be surely deleted, since it is not a fair use. Logos used to be standard, but since Netflix has been releasing their own series, all their series also have their own posters. So, most of Netflix articles about animated series do include posters instead of logos. Posters also give more information about series, and since we are limited to how much copyrighted material we can use, we should use that one which gives more info.--Carniolus (talk) 21:22, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
However, a lot of other cartoons I listed have posters for them. Rather than the two of us arguing about it, maybe we should leave it as is for now and hold a vote on the talk page or something. 148.75.114.68 (talk) 21:32, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
