A perfect example of why I'm not anywhere as active on Wikipedia as I once was[edit]

Things like this, @Mdann52: are exactly why I'm not as active here as I once was. It's bad enough having to opt-out of something that should be opt-in, but you don't even include in your "helpful messages" the way to avoid them, but only if people complain on your talk page about you sending them. Carolina wren (talk) 13:48, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

There was consensus to make this sent to everyone who didn't opt-out, even those who complained on my talk page after I sent it couldn't be removed from the list. Mdann52 (talk) 16:12, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
Keep in mind, the "consensus" is made here by people who like to deal with such minutiae and then wonder why those who don't get upset with the consensus on occasion. Still, what upsets me is primarily not that it was opt-out instead of opt-in, @Mdann52: but that you included absolutely no information in your spam as to how to opt-out of future spammage. As there is no way to opt-out, as there will be no further messages. The namelist was one automatically generated by the WMF of all eligible voters, and everyone on it got a message. Mdann52 (talk) 06:49, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
