Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dimaria2-1-.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dimaria2-1-.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genovese crime family[edit]

Hi,

Please could you stop reverting the Genovese crime family article back to a much older, absurdly long, badly-written, unmanageable version. At the very least, please read Talk:Genovese crime family#Novella?, and explain why you feel this revert is appropriate.

Speedy Deletion of Steven Grammauta[edit]

A tag has been placed on Steven Grammauta, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Article sates guilt for crimes never convicted for. Fails WP:BLP in a pretty major way and needs to be removed until it can be rewritten. (he's worthy of an article though)

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Toddst1 (talk) 15:49, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:JosephCorozzo1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lucky Luciano moving[edit]

Please stop moving Lucky Luciano's article to Charles Luciano. On Wikipedia we go by WP:COMMON and this articles are to be named under which is their most well known name, and actually his real name was "Salvatore Lucania" anyway. - Animagentile (talk) 13:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stop it, its been pointed out to you that Wikipedia works by WP:COMMON Lucky Luciano is what he is most commonly known as. That was the long standard article name before you moved it and it should remain, feel free to discuss on the talk Talk:Lucky Luciano if you feel you have such reasons, however do not move it again without getting a consensus to do it. - Animagentile (talk) 15:17, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May I suggest that you read our policies on civilty, and no personal attacks before acting like an emo kid on my talk again. We go by policy, not personal opinion. Please try to understand this. - Animagentile (talk) 16:27, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to Genovese crime family. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Thank you. Geocities pages are not a reliable source. Any information about living persons, but especially controversial information, must be cited to a reliable source. *** Crotalus *** 15:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article Suggestion[edit]

Thank you for contributions to the crime category! Suggest you put a DEFAULTSORT command before the categories so that the gangster will appear alphabetically by last name in the category lists (i.e Italian-American mobsters). An example would be DEFAULTSORT:Genovese, Vito with the appropriate brackets. Without this command, Wikipedia alphabetizes by first name. Default Sort is listed under "Wiki markup" at the bottom of each Edit page.

Again, please keep writing articles.Rogermx (talk) 18:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of John Stanfa[edit]

A tag has been placed on John Stanfa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jammy Simpson | Talk | 23:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Frank Papagni[edit]

An editor has nominated Frank Papagni, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank Papagni and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genovese crime family 2[edit]

Hello Charlir91. Can you please explain to me why it is you keep reverting everyone else's edits to the Genovese crime family article. You're even reverting fixes to links and typos! You would agree that misspellings make an article look unprofessional, wouldn't you? I await your reply, thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:55, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In response to post on my talk page. Thank you for your kind response. No need to apologize at all, sometimes in the rush of things we have all taken that simpler route, but it does pay to check and see what intervening edits should be kept, though it's a bit more complicated to edit. Your edits to mob-related articles[edit]

I've noticed that just about your entire editing history has been to articles related to reputed Mafia figures. However disreputable the Mafia may be, alleged mobsters are still covered by the biographies of living persons policy. You need to make more of an effort to get better sourcing for your articles. If you continue down your present route, we may need to pursue further measures, such as an request for comment or even arbitration. Blueboy96 01:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow the advice I gave you in the comment I linked to above. Posts such as this are more likely to get you blocked than to get the articles the way you want them to be. If you follow the instructions I gave you in my reply to you on my talk page, you'll do much better than if you continue the course you are taking. Please let me help you as you have asked. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 03:56, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:JosephCorozzo1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:JosephCorozzo1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Kenneth Johnson[edit]

I am letting you know that I have requested that an Admin revert your recent page move. The reason being, his name is "Kenneth". He is always credited as "Kenneth" in film and television roles. Thus, his page name should be titled "Kenneth", and not "Kenny". The fact that he personally goes by "Kenny" is irrelevant to how he is always credited. Please do not move the page again without a valid reason (e.g. one that would need to be discussed on the talk page to explain why the page should be titled out of the norm).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:26, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Dorthe Skappel VG.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Dorthe Skappel VG.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.

Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI (talk) 01:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Dorthe Skappel 1.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Dorthe Skappel 1.jpg.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Replaceable fair use Image:Dorthe_Skappel_2007.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dorthe_Skappel_2007.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 21:41, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Dorthe Skappel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dorthe Skappel.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. snigbrook (talk) 20:31, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:JimmyPalermo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:JimmyPalermo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:19, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Michael Taccetta has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:N - Fails notability. Of the RS used, the subject of the article has passing mentions.

WP:RS - Sources used are IMDB, Blogs, etc. WP:FANPAGE - Article reads like a WP:FANPAGE / WP:PROMO

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
