Hello, and thanks for creating this article. It's been tagged for various improvements. I removed the notability tag because high schools are nearly always found to be notable but only if they have reliable sources. Could you please look it over and see if you can help improve it? Biographies of living persons

Care must be taken when adding material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page.

Please don't remove my BLP concerns from the prod I proposed. You are mistaken in thinking only information in articles identified as biographies are of concern. Thanks, Star767 (talk) 22:57, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

  • It is true, that care must be taken as you state. However, this does not apply to adding a BLP PROD to an article that is not a biography of a living person. And at the same time, it is not appropriate to revise the PROD rationale presented by another editor. Your option is to place a {{PROD2}} with your own rationale to an article if you have additional concerns. Please note that WP:BLP is not a valid deletion rationale. If you don't understand the PROD2 or need help, let me know. That said, if you desire to work successfully in a collaborative environment, it is important for you to learn the expectations, i.e., policies and guidelines, prior to kicking against the goads. It is not productive to claim that others with quite a bit more experience and knowledge is wrong, when they are letting you know that what you are doing is not exactly in alignment with the community's expectations of editors. Especially when seasoned editors are offering help when these mistakes are being made. Again, if you want help or have questions anytime, feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cindy(talk to me) 23:24, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
You removed my BLP concern regarding that article and substituted your own prod instead. You should have placed a {{PROD2}}. It is quite clear that BLP rules refer to any article, per ArbCom ruling. I don't find you to be helpful. Other editors perform a merge under such circumstances. Star767 (talk) 23:37, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
  • The {{BLP prod}} is only placed on a biography of a living person, when there are no sources provided in the article. The BLP prod may then only be removed when the article has at least one reliable source that directly supports at least one statement made about the individual. We do not add {{PROD2}} templates to BLP prods. The BLP prod that you placed was removed, because the article did not meet the criteria for placing the BLP prod, since it is an article about a book. Note that while the book's article can be found at Was it love?, the author's article (the biography of a living person) can be found at Arpan Sharma. Compare the two articles and see if it sheds some light on the differentiation between the two. The book content could feasibly be merged to the author's article, but in any case, the book article fails notability. The only way to actually present the book article for deletion would either be through a G11/G12, PROD, or AFD. The BLP prod won't get you there. I'm truly sorry that I can't be of more help. Just try spending some quality time reading and reviewing the links provided on your talk page. Whenever you have questions about issues flagged on articles, make sure to click through the links and read the information pertaining to the identified issue. If you have questions, you can also request help at the Village Pump. Honestly, people are truly here to help. That said, it sometimes takes a bit of lumps before some are able to learn. Don't give up. Cindy(talk to me) 00:06, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

K-Arrow Ranch

I take issue with your nomination of my K-Arrow Ranch article for deletion. It was a history article and did not fall under your speedy deletion nomination criteria. You didn't even give me, a part-time editor, time to write it out before nominating it for deletion! Less than 24 hours... unbelievable. --Stacey Doljack Borsody (talk) 03:57, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi Stacey, while I understand that it can be frustrating when our work is deleted, this particular article was deleted in accordance with the community's deletion policy after existing for about four and a half hours. While we don't delete articles for speedy deletion under the criteria relating to no content or no context during the first 10-15 minutes after creation, four and a half hours is sufficient time to indicate significance and/or importance of the subject in order to bypass the A7 criteria for speedy deletion. In regards to K-Arrow Ranch, the article was deleted in accordance with the A7 criteria for organizations and companies. While a "ranch" is oftentimes recognized as merely property or a building, it is also a business enterprise or organization. In this context, while the ranch may have existed since the 1800s, this does not indicate importance and/or significance. A ranch is also a company or an organization, i.e., a working ranch, as indicated by the single source to the employee or staff manual. As a side note, it may be advantageous for you to draft this article in your sandbox, until you are able to make sure that the article meets the criteria for inclusion. Respectfully, Cindy(talk to me) 04:14, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
    • Which policy says that 4.5 hours is any kind of sufficient time? Please remember that the Internet is global, asynchronous, and spans many timezones and lifestyles. I would have appreciated it if you had contacted me first before the nomination. The rest of your rational for the nomination falls under a request for deletion rather than speedy deletion. No where does the policy indicate that an article about a place falls under the context you claim it does. --Stacey Doljack Borsody (talk) 09:01, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
      • Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be frustrating at times, for that reason, it is generally recommended that new editors start a draft version first, after which, other editors can provide feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. You can find further guidance at Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Sometimes, when articles are deleted through the "speedy deletion" process, editors cry foul, when they think the article was deleted too speedily. I guess that's the nature of the beast. The alternate deletion process is through Articles for Deletion, when the article does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, so it is presented to the community for discussion. The only time frame we have for nominating articles is a recommendation to refrain from nominating articles lacking content or context within 10-15 minutes after creation. This article was deleted because it failed to indicate how and/or why the subject is important or significant. Doing this could have taken you less than a minute to provide, but you chose instead to create an article and let it sit idle for several hours. While the article was deleted in accordance with the speedy deletion criteria, four and a half hours is doing pretty good here. In the grand scheme of things, you were given sufficient time to bring this article into compliance. Our deletion process does not call for contacting an article creator prior to nominating an article for deletion. Your options at this time include waiting until the deleting administrator comes back online and responds to your message. If you do not agree with his response, you can then request a review of the deletion at WP:DRV. Another choice would be to simply draft the article in your sandbox, request feedback, and move it to the mainspace when it meets the guidelines for inclusion. You may also wish to review the policy pertaining to speedy deletions here. Hope this helps. Cindy(talk to me) 09:40, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
