Plankton Chronicles

I am new on Wikipedia I conceive of Plankton Chronicles as smart art a site more like a artistic interactive multimedia piece with scientific and educational content Did you look at it? I see no reason why it should not be shared with the wikipedia community Christian Sardet@bioclips.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Planktonchronicles (talkcontribs)

Yes, I reviewed it. I also search for reliable secondary independent sources to establish notability for it. I was not able to find any. For an article to be written on Wikipedia, the subject must be considered notable. At this time your website does not appear to be so yet. Best of luck with the growth of your website. Don E stevens - discussion

Please go through MikeWazowski's talk page for important info on Don E stevens. (Dragonbooster4 (talk) 17:00, 7 August 2011 (UTC)).

That type of conversation would be most appropriate to have on the talk page of the article, not on an editor's talk page. But since you asked me to read it, I will give you my opinion. Please read WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:33, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

The redirect was in line with the guidelines at WP:R, as it is a topic that did not have notability established, but someone looking for it may want to find the primary article.ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:52, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

HIII

I know I have to cite sources. But the name is listed in God speaks publication itself. If u want here u go the citation. http://www.divinesport.com/interviews.html (Dragonbooster4 (talk) 15:37, 9 August 2011 (UTC)).

You would need to provide a reliable source to establish such a claim. You should make your comments regarding evidence of reliable sources on the talk page of the article itself, instead of an editor's talk page, so that other editors following the article can have the benefit of your addition research. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:40, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I am done with u. Please dont message me. I am NOT going to edit God Speaks page Tons of sources are there. I dont have time to include them Thank you (Dragonbooster4 (talk) 15:57, 9 August 2011 (UTC)).
I was responding to you messaging me. If you stop messaging me, then there won't be a need to respond to you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Request

Kind request. Please do not let Dragonbooster4's behaviour make you slam on Meher Baba's articles. You can do much harm to a very harmless group of articles if you like and find all the mud you can to pour on top of them. However, for some like me God Speaks is a philosophy, a book of wisdom, not connected to any notion of cult. What Meher Baba's followers might decide to do, should not and does not alter the value of the contents of this book. Hoverfish Talk 17:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note, Hoverfish. I am making no claim that the books are good or bad. I am just adding reliable sourced content to balance out the POV in the articles. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:01, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Meher Baba

you have included references in meher Baba - silence day - In Don E stevens article. (This has no connection) Meher Baba did not declare himself as a cult leader. Your sources are about Meher baba on Drugs and some Research on it by Dont participate in Vandalism on Don E. Stevens page like you did recently. (Dragonbooster4 (talk) 17:56, 9 August 2011 (UTC)).

Have you read the complete set of sources? Please do before you decide what they are about. They clearly support the information which you have removed.ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:57, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Disruptive Editing on Pages Associated with Meher Baba

You have made it clear that you wish all references to Meher Baba to include notes that he is a cult leader. So noted. You have not yet shown that this term needs to be applied every time the name Meher Baba appears in an article, however, and for this reason, your edits are disruptive, and I believe to be vandalism. Please make some effort to discuss before inserting the term willy-nilly, or I will report this behavior to admins. --Nemonoman (talk) 19:18, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. I was following the advice of WP:BB, as I spent a good deal of time researching and reading reliable secondary sources on the topic, and after my careful work have concluded that the bulk of coverage regarding him did not adhere to a neutral point of view. As such, I added well-cited alternative view information to the relevant articles. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:22, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
You are certainly more than welcome to include a section about Meher Baba's cult status, if any, on the Meher Baba page. To include "Cult Leader" in every article that mentions the man is gratuitous POV editing, and you are looking less and less like a neutral editor, and more and more like a disruptive, agenda-driven vandal. I will ask an admin to review your actions. --Nemonoman (talk) 19:28, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I am stepping away from the articles for now. I encourage you to read the sources prior to removing reliably sourced content though. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:38, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I have placed a request for admin review here.
Ba... I support your research but you are on sticky territory. Religious fervor picks up pretty quick however when you start messin' with the man. I strongly suggest you think about some new wording and give it a little time for the heat to cool down. Regards - 4twenty42o (talk) 22:03, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I agree, 4twenty42o, and appreciate your note. But for now, as noted above, I'm going to step away from the articles, as it is clear there are some editors who are quite passionate about defending them, and it is not a good use of energy on my part to engage if other editors are just reverting and attempting to make claims about edit warring (which I have not engaged in) without discussing the merits of bringing an alternative view.ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 23:08, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Easy way my friend, gotta appreciate the no deadlines aspect of this project. Similar "topic" I got caught up in Felix Manalo and Iglesia ni Cristo and the various controversies involved. I prefer to liken this all to a dream. When I go to bed all the trolls, gnomes, vandals and ne'er do-wells will be gone. Keep up the good work! - 4twenty42o (talk) 23:23, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the kind words, 4twenty42o. I hope you have some enjoyable editing in your future. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 23:25, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

I thought I'd let you know about this conversation just in case you would care to add your 2 cents. Cheers - 4twenty42o (talk) 22:50, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up, 4twenty42o! I appreciate it. For now, I'm taking a step back from that entire series of articles for now after the negative experience interacting with the editors who are so passionately defending against the use of a well-cited set of articles which were added previously. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 22:55, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Tagging of Les Humanoïdes Associés

Hi! I've finished my translation of the French article, which I've merged with the existing content on this page. You had previously tagged it for notability and citations, and I was wondering if you could take a couple minutes to review the article again? I don't have much practice with the guidelines for those areas, so I won't be de-tagging the article myself. Thanks for your input! Maethordaer (talk) 10:29, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your editing work and your note. I'll visit the article and take a look. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:24, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Herman Platt

Dear Concerned Vancouverite, I assume you are the one who excised my contribution to the Herman Platt page, namely that he had three other children which were not listed. I know this for a fact because I am a member of the family. I'll be damned if I can figure out how to cite that as a reference in the article. Wikipedia's instructions are very confusing, to put it mildly. If you need further confirmation, I am catman@sunset.net/ Martin Snapp — Preceding unsigned comment added by Catman442 (talkcontribs) 03:51, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Mike Dover article

Hey there ConcernedVancoverite, I have to say, I'm a bit taken aback by this entire process. I'm the first to admit that I don't know the ins and outs of wikipedia, but I never expected to have contributions greeted with what, from my perspective and correct me if I'm wrong, such hostility. On your talk page it says to assume good faith, which I always try to do in my (admittedly) limited interactions with the site. It was my understanding that the same assumption would be made towards the edits I contribute, I try to keep in-line with that expectation. Full disclosure, I do know Mike: I worked with him five years ago at a think tank. It's been great to see his writing and speaking career take off and his rise to prominence in the Canadian business world. I wanted to document it. In response to this, right off the bat you accused me of violating wikipedia rules by one-upping my edit with a second account, citing an obscure (and frankly, logically weak) DUCK rule. In response to that, I cleaned up the article and added more sources, as you had suggested, in order to mitigate your concerns. That it seems, despite being what was requested, was not sufficient, and you escalated your charge, saying that even the new sources were not sufficient. I admit I don't fully understand how Wikipedia classifies primary sources versus secondary ones, but the lines I was supporting were factual statements. Has Mike been on TV? Yes, here's a TV clip that shows him on CBC. So far as I can tell that's writing a factual statement with evidence. I'm not able to understand how it's objectionable. You' then continued to go after other pages I've created. I'm trying to do good by an old colleague, Wikipedia, and the internet at large, but it seems as though I'm being vilified. I'm trying very hard to assume good faith here. Please help me understand your perspective. I'm hoping that together we can make this an outstanding article. Best wishes and thanks for your time, --Jdechambeau (talk) 01:01, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for openly admitting your conflict of interest with the article in question. I strongly encourage you to read the Wikipedia guidelines on such conflicts of interest so that you can learn more about how to make contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding factual statements, it is quite important that any statements made, particularly about people who are living are verifiable in reliable secondary sources. The bulk of the claims you have added are either based upon original research due to your personal knowledge that is available to you through your conflict, or what is called primary research directly synthesizing primary sources without having the claims made by secondary sources. I encourage you to read over all of the links you have been provided with both on the page, the various talk pages, and in this response, prior to making any more edits to articles for which you have a stated conflict of interest in. Thank you, and best of luck with your contributions. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:53, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

ROH Death Before Dishonor

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, just to let you know that I have removed the speedy deletion template from ROH Death Before Dishonor as a non-admin because it was an event, events do not normally fall under A7. While the last 3 editions were apparently broadcast online, others were apparently not (accepting the article text in good faith), so it cannot be said to be purely web content. I'm not convinced that the topic is notable, so maybe it should go to AfD. Thanks, Quasihuman | Talk 12:05, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the note. I've gone ahead and Proded it for now. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:00, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Mediation of our editorial disagreement

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, I wanted to let you know that I've requested mediation for our disagreement over the Mike Dover and Wikibrands articles. The mediation page is: Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2011-08-21/Wikibrands: Reinventing Your Company in a Customer-Driven Marketplace. It would be very much appreciated if you accepted the offer to mediate so that we can resolve this situation in a way that best-benefits the community as a whole. All the best --Jdechambeau (talk) 05:14, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. If you want to work on the article which was deleted by an administrator, it would be best to ask that administrator to place the article into your user space so you can address the concerns and then perhaps move it back to the article space when it is ready. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:16, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I've opened a request to have the page userfied so that I can work on it for later reintroduction, but I'd very much like to go through the mediation process with you. I feel that you've treated me very poorly and have been behaving in ways that are not in-line with the core principles of wikipedia. I'd like for us to discuss it further so that I can understand where you're coming from if I've misread the situation. --Jdechambeau (talk) 17:36, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your note. As mentioned previously, I've already responded on the mediation page. Please try to keep the discussion in a single place. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:45, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh! My apologies, I'll continue the thread there :) -- Jdechambeau (talk) 17:47, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Changed CSD criteria on Shamanic Astrology

Just wanted to let you know that I changed the CSD criteria on Shamanic Astrology. A7 applies to a limited set of subjects, and educational systems are not one of those subjects. However, it is a copyvio, so I have tagged the article for deletion under G12. Singularity42 (talk) 16:39, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the note. I had read the article as being about the organization which provides the system, and that is why I applied A7. But G12 works as well since you have turned up the copyvio. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:40, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Wikibrands: Reinventing Your Company in a Customer-Driven Marketplace

Hi ConcernedVancouverite. A user has contested the deletion of Wikibrands: Reinventing Your Company in a Customer-Driven Marketplace on my talk page at User_talk:Fastily#Wikibrands:_Reinventing_Your_Company_in_a_Customer-Driven_Marketplace. As the user who originally nominated the page for deletion, your input would be appreciated. Thanks, FASTILY (TALK) 19:07, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Fastily. Thank you for the note. I've been having numerous follow-ups with the user and regarding the user in two primary venues: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Jdechambeau and Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2011-08-21/Wikibrands:_Reinventing_Your_Company_in_a_Customer-Driven_Marketplace. Would it be helpful for me to post links to those discussions on your talk page? ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 19:12, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Allegis_Capital

Dear Mr. Concerned, Please let me know you're concerns regarding adding a Wikipedia link for Allegis Capital. They are mentioned in several Wiki articles in text format. I merely added a proper link for this VC outfit. I intended it to be neutral in tone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bschoeni (talkcontribs) 03:11, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. Reading over the current article at Allegis_Capital I see no claims of notability. As such, I nominated it for speedy deletion. If you feel it is a notable organization, please add reliable sources to document any claims of notability. Thank you, and best of luck with your editing. Speedy deletion tag of Inna Muddanu

I noticed you tagged the page Inna Muddanu per criteria A1. The article had an under construction template so it was more appropriate to move the article to the userspace of the author. Ryan Vesey Review me! 03:26, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

I've tagged the redirect from article space to userspace. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 03:27, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Yep, I would've gotten around to it, but since you were actively tagging I left it. Ryan Vesey Review me! 03:28, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
OK. Happy editing! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 03:30, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Ryan Reeves (disambiguation)

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I deleted Ryan Reeves (disambiguation), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. — Joseph Fox 09:30, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. I wasn't clear which criteria to use in that case, since the redirect already existed without the disambiguation modifier. R3 makes sense. Thank you! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:22, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. I'm not disputing anything about USA or another country. In fact I am not in the USA either. The article makes no claims of notability, which is why I nominated it for speedy deletion. It was deleted by an administrator who apparently agreed. If you would like to develop the article, then by all means go ahead and make some claims in the article about the subject's notability. You may find the information here: WP:N useful in developing the article. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:37, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Managed Print Services

Seriously??? I feel like you are trying to frustrate me into giving up on this! Each of the other companies on the site have website links following them...every one of them but apparently it's now inappropriate when I do the same? This is supposed to be an open forum and I don't believe my edits are anything other than completely factual and exactly in line with what the other contributors have put up. It is a fact that Fulton Francis Consulting have been in the Managed Print Services market for over 12 years and we have presence in USA, UK, Sweden, Singapore, Australia & New Zealand. I'm not proclaiming on wiki that we are the only ones, the best or anything else that would be unreasonable in this forum. I have simply noted that Fulton Francis operate in those markets and added a link to our page as per the other independent companies. I have also noted that Newfield IT were purchased by Xerox so hardly entitled to be in the 'independent' category. I would have thought if there was so much interest in maintaining this page and keeping it accurate that you would have updated the Newfield IT since their acquisition in May - http://news.xerox.com/pr/xerox/xerox-acquires-newfield-it-expands-managed-print-services.aspx Bfrancis73 (talk) 20:55, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

Generally if a company does not have enough notability to have an article on Wikipedia it is not appropriate to provide an external link to it in such a list. Regarding the other links, I would like to refer you to WP:OTHERSTUFF regarding this. But if you find other companies which are linked inappropriately, please go ahead and delete such links - even though that is a separate issue. re: Banana Dance

I have no relationship with Banana Dance (software). I was looking for wiki software, saw a new entry in the field, and went to wikipedia to find out about it. I saw no entry so added one (denoting it a stub), expecting it to be fleshed out as time went on. Perhaps I erred. -Brad Hughes (talk) 00:38, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Lawrence Kennedy

I think you should reconsider your speedy deletion request for article Lawrence Kennedy. It is clearly notable. Please focus your efforts on articles without references. Time was spent writing the article and finding sources, which I do not think you looked at or you wouldn't have requested the deletion.Theseus1776 (talk) 16:39, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I do not see any notability claims in the article that are WP:NOTINHERITED. Please improve the article to establish notability that is not based upon inherited connection to notable people and institutions. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:41, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
The organization he is president of has several thousand churches globally. Also being a member of the strategic board is inherently notable, not inherited as you claim. Being a pastor it would make HIM notable for performing Chuck Norris' wedding. It is not inherited, but is INHERENT in his professional capacity.Theseus1776 (talk) 16:46, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
It would be best for you to make such arguments on the article's talk page so other editors can benefit from your thoughts. They may be missed by others if you place them here on my personal talk page. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:48, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Masaki Kurihara, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 16:20, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. It seems it was updated from the version when I placed the tag: [3]. Still has a way to go, but I agree it is now no longer an A7. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:07, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

A1 ERP Verticals removal

This is what used to be on the A1 ERP page: [4] and all I did was to include some details that had been missed out before, this resulted in my edit been removed and even the content that had been there before for a long time was also removed: [5]. If my edit was wrong then I believe that all you ConcernedVancouverite should have removed was the new additional content and should not have removed the content that had been on that page previously.

Another slight issue I would like to raise is you ConcernedVancouverite state that I was including excessive product details thus making it look like its promotional material on A1 ERP, what I would request you ConcernedVancouverite and other editors to look into is a page like this one: [6], they do have alot of content and if this is okay as per your standards, kindly let me know why A1 ERP cannot have the same. Mkagwe (talk) 06:22, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your repeating the point you made on your sockpuppet investigation here [7]. It would be best for you to create such a discussion on the talk page of the article in question, so that other editors can participate and form a consensus. Regarding your question about removal of article content - generally articles on Wikipedia are a living ongoing process and material can be edited at any point in time. Regarding materials on other articles, I encourage you to read: WP:OTHERSTUFF and if you find other articles that require improvements go ahead and make edits to those articles as appropriate. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:25, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism

I'm not vandalizing, I'm just changing a redirect page into something more useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ylightflight (talkcontribs) 04:30, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

The changes you made did not appear to be constructive, and were reverted as such. I suggest that if you want to make such broad changes which may appear to be non-constructive to other editors that you discuss them first on the article talk pages prior to making such a change. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 13:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Extended Play (EP)

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Extended Play (EP), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: WP:CSD#A9 only applies if the artist has no article, but Blood On The Dance Floor has one. Let the AfD take care of it. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 15:55, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the note, JohnCD. The article was deleted and salted previously: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Blood_on_the_dance_floor_(band). I hadn't been aware of the previous AfD on the band until another editor was kind enough to point it out on the new AfD, but now that I have seen that, it seems it should be A9'ed, no? ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:57, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Yes, sorry, I was too quick off the mark, I should have read the AfD first. Speedied A9 and closed the AfD. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 15:59, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Gotcha. Thank you! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:20, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Death Before Dishonor IX declined

Hello. Per the notice you received above, a tag had been placed on Death Before Dishonor IX requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please note that after review, I have declined the deletion request on the basis that the article is about an EVENT, and as such is not eligible for an A7 tagging. Consider PRODing or taking to AFD instead., so you do not need to worry about this article being speedily deleted. Please note that speedy deletion is only one of three deletion processes on Wikipedia; my decline does not prevent users from invoking the separate, longer term deletion methods of proposed deletion or bringing the article to articles for deletion. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 00:14, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

The article in question was already previously deleted based upon A7 and was recreated. But I'll go ahead and PROD it instead. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 00:55, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Then I would say those admins erred in deleting the article via A7 as it does not apply to events the way I read it as worded.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 01:35, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
I think they likely viewed it, as I did, under A7 as web content since it was described as an online pay for view event. A7 does apply to web content, as I read it. But you of course would have to ask them to be sure. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:51, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Please remove the speedy tag

...which you placed on Paul Banks, Icon in Homer. This is not an "implausible typo" this is what SHOULD have been left behind when I moved the article; I accidentally moved without redir, and the redir in place now is my fix. The author of the page will NOT be able to find his article to edit and improve; and several discussions will be left orphaned, without this redirect. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 21:15, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. It seems the redirect has already been deleted under R3. The good news is that if the author visits that page it will show the log of where the article can now be found, so they should be able to find it without a problem. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 00:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

substing problems

I just noticed some of the messages you left on User talk:Ylightflight were not substed correctly (search the page for the word subst to find them). Checking, I see that the templates do not exist. I thought I'll just let you know. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 09:54, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. How strange! That was left using Twinkle. I wonder what is going on? ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:39, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
Odd indeed. I know by default Twinkle does not leave notice messages for g6 and g8, so maybe it is a bug which was not discovered before because most editors don't change the default? Worth asking them though. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 14:46, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
I don't think I changed any defaults. Thanks for raising this! I'll check.... ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:48, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
I've gone ahead and changed to "restore defaults" and I see it is now unchecked. Thanks for raising this - hopefully fixed going forward! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:58, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Adam Schuck

Contested deletion of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Schuck This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Schuck is indeed a global leader in the tech community. Schuck has had the same impact to the technology world as someone like Lars Rasmussen, the software developer - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Rasmussen_(software_developer), as Schuck co-created Google Wave, created and mapplets and was part of the 5 founding team members (Ori Allon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ori_Allon included) which sold Julpan to Twitter in just over a year in September 2011. Having taken out the "advertising jargon", it is of opinion that Schuck's page is of notoriety and and contributes to Wikipedia. I don't think there is references containing original research or a large bias. If there is, please inform me and I will correct them. Please reinstate Schuck's page as a suitable Wikipedia page. Please let me know how else to fit the criteria. Domenico.y (talk) 01:33, 24 September 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y

It would be best for you to make your point on the article's talk page so that other editors can gain the benefit of reading your comments. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:41, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Adam Schuck - citations and notable

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, In addressing concerns, which I will fix up the referencing after I have done this: “Adam Schuck was recruited by Google Australia soon after graduating from the University of New South Wales” http://www.computerworld.com.au/article/166548/google_recruitment_process_revealed/ I cannot find a reference which states he was the first engineer at the Sydney Office of Google, but I will try to source it. having co-created Mapplets in 2007.[4][unreliable source?] http://www.webdu.com.au/speaker/adam-schuck--sydney-australia- webDU is the premier Antipodean Web Technology Conference, taking place 14-15 April 2011 in Sydney, Australia. This is the ninth year the conference will be held. I found another citation: http://www.google.com/events/io/2010/speakers.html - If Google says Schuck “co-created Mapplets in 2007”, then Schuck created Mapletts. “Drove” is what Schuck’s Linkendin profile says. Schuck "compelled and manoeuvred the technology to what is became", it means, not "created" the technology. Schuck received the Google EMG award (2nd highest award given at Google) for work on Google Maps API.[6][unreliable source?] I will try find a “more” reliable source, but I have first hand seen the EMG award on his desk at Google Sydney and Lars Rusmessan, creator of Google Maps and software developer at Google can confirm that. Schuck is the ACM Programming Competition World Finalist and South Pacific Champion, 2003 and 2004. [13][14][original research?] No, that citing is not original research at all. It is from the "ACM South Pacific" site - www.sppcontest.org. I found another reference stating the Schuck gave a presentation on GWT in 2008 and I will cite that - http://www.google.com/events/io/2009/sessions/GoogleWavePoweredByGWT.html Please read the previous discussion topics: I have posted the message to you on 24 September 2011 (UTC) at 01:33. In addition, DGG noted the deletion obsolete “DGG (talk | contribs) (3,494 bytes) (cofounded Google Wave is an assertion of importance. speedy declined)” at 06:15, 24 September 2011. Schuck is notable and worthy of wiki. I shall take out the banner tags after I have finished the extra citations. Thank you. Domenico.y (talk) 00:25, 25 September 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y

Hi, please communicate on the talk page of the article, not my personal talk page regarding any changes you are proposing or any issues you have with tags. That way all editors can benefit from reading your thoughts. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 02:33, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion Radio Borovo

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I wish just to say you that I will remove speedy deletion from article Radio Borovo. In the article I added a reliable source and changed a little article. Can the most rated minority radio stations in some country be included, does by that article meet Wikipedia's criteria? What do you think, do you agree with removing?--MirkoS18 (talk) 00:33, 26 September 2011 (UTC) And yes, there are also instruction in the category Category:Radio stations in Croatia: It has been requested that this category be populated.

Thank you for the additional sources and information. I will go ahead and remove the tag. It isn't a good idea for you to do so as you created the article and the automated bots will likely revert you and send you a warning. Best of luck with your editing! Speedy deletion declined: Jules Leroy

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jules Leroy, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The references give an indication that he might be notable, and it's not clear cut enough for A7. Take to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK  20:14, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. The article has received additional citations since the initial nomination. For now I have tagged it appropriately to see how it develops. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:22, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
I think perhaps you may be tagging for deletion a bit too quickly. This one, for example, you tagged two minutes after it had been created. Unless the creator is pretty wiki-savvy, adding in references and shaping the article can take a little time. When I used to new page patrol (which I guess is what you do), I'd really only be looking for obvious vandalism, attack pages and the like. I'd leave notability checks for a few pages into the list (or the back, as it was huge back then), which gives the article time to stabilise. I hope you find this helpful, regards, GedUK  11:45, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your additional thoughts. I will give them consideration. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:00, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

ANI-notice

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Hi ConcernedVancouverite. I have made a comment at AN/I to the effect that I think it would be best if you and Jasper stopped interacting with Domenico.y for the time being. I have no doubt you are both acting in the best of faith in trying to keep Domenico.y's editing within policy, but it doesn't look like the current approach is working very well, and I would like to try a new approach. 28bytes (talk) 09:08, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the comment, 28bytes. I have responded on the AN/I directly here [8] as my editing actions which have been AGF quality control edits have resulted in numerous personal attacks by an inexperienced WP:COI editor and a slightly more experienced editor who has been mentoring him. NCTown

No I'm not affiliated with NCTown I created friendsphere, not NCTown I wrote the article because the site Is becoming very popular — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.226.234.157 (talk) 03:28, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note, I assume you are editor ChaseAReid but forgot to logon and that you are replying to my notice to that editor here [9]. If that is the case, your comment here [10] where you state, "I want to make some changes to the "List of social networks" page and add a gaming network me and my friend created called NCTown." seems to contradict your posting here. So, can you please clarify which post is true? The one where you said you and your friend created the site, or this one where you say you are not affiliated with it at all? In any case, I hope you do review WP:COI so you can learn about how to interact with the Wikipedia community taking into account your potential conflicts of interest. Best of luck with your editing. Jeff Bowling & Never Quit, Never Fail Tour

Hi - Happy Friday! I saw your recommendation to delete two articles I posted this morning. I'm not exactly sure why they are being recommended to be deleted. The Jeff Bowling article is similar to what you see in Wikipedia for other notable entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates or Thomas Kinkaid. The tour is involving business leaders across the nation (and currently expanding to Japan) and is starting in universities. Both have national and interational impact. They had the external references. What can we do to get these published? Thanks for your help! Kim — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.164.28.112 (talk) 16:35, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

The articles have both been deleted as they were deemed to be too promotional in nature for a Wikipedia article. I am unable to see the articles anymore, but as I recall the sources cited were mostly Press releases and direct information from the subject's of the article. So a few ways forward for you: 1) You should read over WP:COI in case you have a conflict of interest with the subject matters so you can understand how best to interact with the community. 2) If you work on creating a draft of the articles once again, I encourage you to thoroughly source any claims using reliable sources. You can click the words "reliable sources" in the previous sentence to get more information about what that means for Wikipedia. Best of luck with your editing. CSD A7 on Kenechi Okolo

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I challenged your WP:CSD A7 on Kenechi Okolo. Regardless of the notability of the movie, I think his claim of being notable for directing it is enough to survive criteria A7. I have no objection if you want to pursue an alternative deletion process on the article. Monty845 02:27, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know your opinion. I'll review the article once again and likely take it to AfD. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:01, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Citing question

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, Look at [11], the first 2 paragraphs. When you read the reference they cited, it does not show the quote, only a quote by the subject. Please look at this. Thank you. Domenico.y (talk) 16:16, 13 October 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y

I am unclear why you are writing to me about this article and am not following your question. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:24, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok, perhaps I should ask somebody else who understands. Domenico.y (talk) 16:27, 13 October 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y
A good place to start would be the people who are editing that article actively and have shown an interest in it. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:30, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok. Thank you. Domenico.y (talk) 16:33, 13 October 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y
P.S. I am writing that to you because you are concerned that references need to say what they say. In this article above, I can't find any evidence. The subject said that he said that, but there is no evidence. Domenico.y (talk) 16:40, 13 October 2011 (UTC) Domenico.y
Thank you for clarifying your logic in inviting me to look at an article I am not actively editing where you are having a content disagreement with an editor over sourcing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:09, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Wildlife Acoustics and my Wikipedia username

Maybe I should have chosen the user name 'ConcernedSeattlite' .... I am indeed not part of some collection of user names/ accounts suspected of being 'socks' for Wildlife Acoustics.' I am a Pacific Northwest bat biologist who specializes in bio-acoustic methods for the study of bats. Although I have edited a few Wikipedia pages over the past few years (logged with my IP) I decided to create an ID/account for the round of comments regarding Wildlife Acoustics -- specifically to have a more transparent presence on Wikipedia, and to take benefit of notifications, etc.

I can argue the technical innovations & significance of this particular company on the AQfD Wildlife_Acoustics page, but I thought it be best address you directly on the above issue! Thanks... Bigearedbatguy (talk) 22:53, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Advice requested for newbie wikipedia user re conflict of interests

Dear ConcernedVancouverite, ianagranat here from Wildlife Acoustics. Thanks for bringing the conflict of interest issue to my attention - I am new to Wikipedia (well, of course I have used and relied on it for many years, but new on the contribution side as of days ago). Would you recommend I add anything to the deletion discussion disclosing my affiliation? (I added this to my user page if it wasn't previously obvious in context). I am trying to play by the rules but am not yet familiar with them. I thought it important to point out references to articles that may have been difficult for editors to find if they did not know where to look and I believe I have done so in a balanced and unbiased way. As a frequent user of Wikipedia, I do appreciate your good intentions. The behind-the-scenes mechanisms were not previously known to me but I am growing to appreciate how well they work in maintaining Wikipedia content at the highest standards of accuracy and relevance, and I know this would not be possible without the hard work of yourself and other editors to keep us all honest. I certainly have a personal interest in keeping the page that was created on our behalf, but will ultimately respect the decisions of the editors in this regard. Any advice you have to offer on my conduct thus far or anything else I should be doing is greatly appreciated. If I don't hear otherwise, I don't plan to say anything more on the subject. I did note that the "bioacoustics" article doesn't have an expert project assigned, so it was difficult to solicit those authors who may have unbiased expert opinions on our notability with expert-topic. I can tell you that within the circles of bat biologist researchers and many amphibian researchers, we have provided instrumentation that enabled them to conduct studies that would not have been possible otherwise, and on those grounds, would like to think that we are notable to them. Additionally, our recent emergence in the bat monitorning market with more current technology has really turned the bat-detector market on its head given our two largest competitors have been over-charging customers with 20-year-old technology for a very long time. Our existance has really changed the landscape in recent years, and that's why there are going to be several talks and workshops at next-week's North American Symposium for Bat Research in Toronto (http://www.nasbr.org/meetings/41_toronto/) presenting several different and independent studies conducted by university researchers comparing our solution to others. (There was no point to undertake such comparisons until we came along with something significant, and again, I believe that makes us notable). Thank you for your note. Generally the best way to participate, if you feel the need to contribute to the article in which you have a conflict of interest, is to read over WP:COI and then instead of making edits directly to the article in question, suggest changes on the article's talk page and allow a non-conflicted editor to work through those changes if they feel they are appropriate. In terms of bringing your expertise to help Wikipedia overall, it would be wonderful if you contributed to articles that you do have expertise on, which you do not have a direct conflict of interest with. The project could benefit from your knowledge I am sure. Enjoy your editing! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 23:26, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Agro (band)

I deleted both the page and talk page after my decision, but only "salted" the talk page. Please keep an eye on this one, and contact me or another admin if anything fishy happens. Bearian (talk) 23:17, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up. I'll leave it on my watchlist to see if it pops up again. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 00:23, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

NewField IT

Hi I notice you have merged NewField IT in the the Xerox website. Whilst you have made some valid points I think you have been rather agressive with you approach to this article without giving good reasons for your actions. NewField IT is an independently operated company that is influential in the Managed Print Services market and is notable through the wide referencing across this industry. It should not be merged with the main Xerox article. You have issued me a warning for citing press releases - only one of the references cited of three was a press release and this was from a third party, a notable comapny, who was announcing the point required from the citation. The wiki rules do not state that press releases are NOT reliable but that they may not be reliable. The context must be taken into account. I therefore removed tags that had been placed for the right reasons.

You also deleted a recent award based on the basis that this was not notable. How can an award that was presented by a Sectetary of State and another member of parliament and sponsored by the National Physical Laboratory not be notable. All extremely notable.

I feel that my taking a different view to you has resulted in you unlilateral deleting a valid page. If you have problems with an article you should write considered comments and allow editors to correct items. Please explain you actions. Regards Iic02p — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iic02p (talkcontribs) 20:02, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. Press releases are not reliable sources to establish notability regardless of who issues the press release. If what is announced in the press release is notable you will be able to find reliable third party independent non-press release sources. While it sounds like you are very passionate about NewField IT and its industry, you have yet to provide reliable sources to establish the company's notability. If they are notable, please do provide reliable third party sources to establish notability claims. If you can not provide those, then it is just a subsidiary of a large notable company and can be mentioned on their primary page. Regarding the award, they did not win the award - they received a runners up position for a single category of a multi-category award ceremony, and I could find no reliable sources mentioning that they received such an award. The only citation provided was an original source from the awards ceremony. For it to be considered notable for Wikipedia standards such a runner up award would need to be reported in independent reliable sources. Please provide the citations on the article's talk page if you can locate them, which should be readily available if it is truly notable. The page has not been deleted, it has been merged into the parent company's article until reliable sourcing can be provided to establish notability warranting a separate article. Please provide some, and we can look at establishing a separate article. If you have any questions about sources, feel free to ask - prior to just reincluding them as you are still getting acquainted with Wikipedia standards and I'd like to help you understand them best as possible. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:53, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Clean technology challenge

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Clean technology challenge, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article isn't about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:15, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. It struck me as an organization that was putting on an event, and since it is an organization it appeared to fall under A7 to me. But if you just view it as an event and not as an organization I can understand your logic. I've proded it for now. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:11, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Aquatic Commons (digital library)

Dear ConcernedVancouverite, I actually deleted the notability note on purpose thinking that enough secondary sources and references had been provided for this item in the end, and that the concerns expressed in the note didn't mirror the present situation any longer. I am sorry for apparently misjudging the facts. May I draw your attention to the following point, though? Checking the standards of some of the other digital libraries items, it seems to me that Aquatic Commons fits quite well among them, as far as notability and accountability are concerned. Please reassess the present situation of the item, and, if the requested standards are met, please remove the notability note. Regards Luigi Baldassari (talk) 14:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your note. I'll take a look when I get a chance. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:59, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Notable Quotation by Lars Rasmussen

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, I saw that you reverted the quotation I added to Lars Rasmussen (software developer). I'm new to editing Wikipedia. What determines whether a quotation is notable? And what's the correct way to cite something he said in conversation? Thanks, Tstocky (talk) 22:08, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Unless it is reported in a reliable independent source it is not to be included in Wikipedia. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 03:54, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

December 2011

Good morning ConcernedVancouverite.

These sources have been deleted as they were factually incorrect. See the talk page of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Davina_Reichman under "Non existent sources removed and translation corrected for an explanation".

Please note the following: "This article must adhere to the policy on biographies of living persons. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should not be inserted and if present, must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libellous. If such material is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other concerns about the biography of a living person, please report the issue to this noticeboard. If you are connected to the subject of this article and need help with issues related to it, please see this page."

I sincerely hope that my suspicions that you have a COI are not substantiated.

Please do not persist in quoting deleted sources in contravention to Wikipedia regulations.

Thank you for your concerns and your assistance.

OliviaBlond (talk) 00:54, 10 December 2011 (UTC) OliviaBlond

"Olivia": Please refer to my comments both on the sockpuppet investigation and on your talk page. It appears you have a strong conflict of interest and should not continue to disruptively be editing such content. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:03, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Eric Wilson

I've declined your G4 because this version is totally different. The earlier one was a copyvio. This version is, unfortunately, also a copyvio of somewhere different (as I found out after declining your G4), so I've tagged it copyvio G12. The books look as if they might be notable enough - but if the authors can't be bothered, why should we? Peridon (talk) 19:44, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Bit more checking shows the stuff to be mirrored. Detagged again. Looks legit enough, if a bit short on refs. Peridon (talk) 19:50, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
I was unable to see the previous version for the G4, but the discussion on the AfD sounded pretty similar. I checked further and think it is a copyvio. I've G12ed it. At the very least I think it should be prodded if we don't G12 it. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 23:31, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Seems to have been a copyvio of Amazon which had been up so long it was on the mirrors.... Why do people do this? Twice, I mean. Peridon (talk) 19:11, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Talk page stalker here. Please don't salt - I was a big Eric Wilson fan in my pre-teens. Might use this to get a decent stub together. The Interior (Talk) 19:16, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
I was hoping someone would come up with something (and had no intention of salting this one). The books look to be well notable - it's just been copyvio problems. Just don't copy & paste or someone else might reach for the shaker... Peridon (talk) 19:47, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
No, I'll just go for a close paraphrase (JK!). His books are great page-turners with a nice dash of B.C. history thrown in. The Interior (Talk) 19:59, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
"A social media website" Please look at that source again, CV. While it can certainly be improved on, why do see it as unreliable? The Interior (Talk) 22:06, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
I have. I do not see it as a reliable source, as it is a website that doesn't have the notability to have its own Wikipedia article. If it were a reliable source, there would be enough reliable sources about it that it would have an article on Wikipedia. It appears to just be a personal website. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 23:59, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
You're sort of mixing the reliability and notability guidelines. Regardless, your tag spurred me to the library, which revealed that the website is really a crib of Who's Who in Canadian Literature, so I've used that instead. Found a couple reviews also. The Interior (Talk) 23:29, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Non existent sources removed and translation corrected

Kindly note: The Vancouver Sun confirmed that the article on iClothing was factually incorrect and was deleted. The indexing of the article "Have your iPad in hand? Now you need a little black iDress". Vancouver Sun: p. C.3. June 1, 2010. ISSN 08321299. Proquest 2049290071” was deleted from the databases of ProQuest, OCLC and WorldCat and no longer exists. These articles are not archived. They have been comprehensively deleted in entirety, ie no archived version or any other version exists. OliviaBlond (talk) 04:26, 10 December 2011 (UTC) OliviaBlond

Olivia, please stop posting on my talk page. If you have comments about an article you can place those comments directly on the talk page of the article for all interested editors to see. If you post on my talk page other editors may not get the benefit of your deep personal knowledge and connection to the article subject. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:57, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

FYI ANI-notice

FYI Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. OliviaBlond (talk) 01:27, 10 December 2011 (UTC) OliviaBlond

I also advise you simply watch this AN/I out rather than comment and drag it out. It will be resolved faster! Ma®©usBritish [Chat • RFF] 01:43, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
For now I see no reason to comment at the AN/I until the sockpuppet case at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Davina.R is resolved. The points that Marcus has made in these diffs [12] and [13] adequately summarizes the COI issue for now. Thank you for those posts, Marcus. Olivia, you would better be able to help your friend by reading over WP:COI and avoiding false accusations. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 02:57, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
I think, given the clear conclusion of the SPI, and lack of admin interest at AN/I, just intervening civility do-gooders trying to make a meal of things, that the situation is closed. Please keep an eye on Domenico.y, though, as I wouldn't be surprised if he became active and disruptive again, or worse still, someone in their party may open a new sock and start disrupting DR's BLP. Cheers, Ma®©usBritish [Chat • RFF] 22:57, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I agree. I'm doubtful we've seen the end of these disruptions. But one can hope..... ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:25, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Article deletion

Please explain why you deleted the New York Mustangs article when it clearly meets the guidelines and was already approved and published after many revisions. I don't find this fair at all. --Mikeford5 (talk) 21:53, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Mike. I did not delete the article. I simply tagged it to be considered for speedy deletion by an administrator for the reasons I specified in my notice to you on your talk page here [14]. Apparently an administrator agreed and decided to delete it. Generally clubs need to have significant reliable source coverage to establish notability. Can you be a bit more specific please? Generally if you want to give feedback about editing it would be helpful to point to specific diffs that you feel were vandalism, particularly since the bulk of my work on Wikipedia is fighting vandals. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:50, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
You have consistently edited conservative oriented pages while NEVER editing their progressive/liberal counterparts. In good faith, please check the Texas College Democrats page and edit it in the same way you edited Texas College Republicans. I am giving you the benefit of a doubt in the matter, however your edits do shoe bias and preference for liberal groups.Theseus1776 (talk) 18:00, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the tip about other pages that may be suffering from quality control issues. If I have the time and find anything that requires work on those pages I will certainly take a look. That said, the edits that you recently have been making do violate Wikipedia guidelines and norms, and I will continue to notify when I discover those types of edits regardless of the political bent of a given page or the editor making those edits. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:03, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Debbie Goddard Redirect

Fake Uzbek Wikipedia

Hi! The Uzbek wiki has been blocked by the repressive Uzbek government in Uzbekistan. I recently wrote an article (in Uzbek) in RFE/RL about it. Today I noticed that there's a fake Uzbek Wikipedia which is obviously supported by authorities and doesn't have any material critical of the despotic government of Islam Karimov. Instead, it's full of biased material. On its main page it is written that this fake Wiki is a "mirror" of the Uzbek Wikipedia. Do you think the Wiki community should somehow be told about this fake Wiki? Nataev (talk) 22:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm unclear why you have contacted me regarding this. It may be more appropriate for you to contact a Wikipedia administrator. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 00:37, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

In Google, type in "Polyvore vs" (without quotes) and let autocomplete do the rest of the work. Marcus Qwertyus 22:05, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

That results in nothing on my end. Perhaps it works on google in your locale, but not here. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 22:43, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
It also works with "Pinterest vs" on my end. Marcus Qwertyus 22:55, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Doesn't for me. That just yields a choice of: tumblr, evernote, facebook, instagram, yahoo, cbc, ctv, and reddit. Clearly those aren't all appropriate as see also's in any case, so it really isn't very relevant what a search engine completion suggestion suggests for a single editor. Make Justice Work

I see you have damaged the page I had created for make justice work, and objected to MJW's ambassadors being cited on their own pages. The information is factually correct, these people are ambassadors for MJW - please explain your objections to the addition rather than ripping apart someone else's hard work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toomanyairmiles (talkcontribs) 18:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Please refer to the article talk page here Talk:Make_Justice_Work so that all interested editors can join the discussion. I would also suggest you read over: WP:OWN. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:09, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate the context of the user's edits here, but giving them a final warning for spamming seems a bit off, when all they were trying to do (I'd say in good faith) was add a source in response to the AfD which had asked for one. I agree that it looks like it might be a non-expert blog, and it's a mediocre regurgitated press-release at best, but source quality hadn't been previously explained to the editor - loudly threatening to outright ban an article's creator if they get their next source wrong is not a very healthy way to progress an AfD. --McGeddon (talk) 00:39, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

The user has been ignoring feedback repeatedly on reliable sourcing and original research. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:36, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

I've significantly changed the Make Justice Work Article I wrote last night and added numerous additional sources, including direct references to the report in the form of questions in the house of commons and house of lords.

I notice I have been cited for spamming again (why a link to the subject of the page's website, or their noted ambassadors is spam is beyond me), please note that the Law Society Gazette is the paper of record for the Uk's Law Society, a professional body representing all solicitors in England and Wales and is therefore an authoritative source. You can view it's wiki here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Law_Society_Gazette and for the Law Society here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_Society_of_England_and_Wales.

I also note that you have listed a reference to the Wales Probation Trust as unreliable, this organisation is a statutory body within uk law, part of the National Probation Service, operates on a government domain, and the page it is published on is clearly labelled news - please remove this as you appear to have made an incorrect assumption about it's veracity.

Based on the updates I would politely ask you to remove the AfD, unreliable source citation, and original research citation - I did not make any reference on the page to the reports findings, conclusions or evidence, simply linked it's existence which on it's face is perfectly acceptable within the guidelines.

I also have explicit permission to use the MJW logo and ask you to withdraw your speedy deletion request for that too. I really don't understand the position you have taken on this page and it's contents, there are numerous articles for other criminal justice campaign organisations and the celebrities which support them on wiki, and few have the impact MJW has. I would like to get on and write about community sentences in the UK and the new justice bill. This will be an impossible task without reference to MJW and it's report. Toomanyairmiles (talk) 03:00, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

As noted above, please refer to the article talk page here Talk:Make_Justice_Work so that all interested editors can join the discussion. Reliable sources are secondary. Please read over original research to learn about what constitutes original research vs. reliable secondary sourcing. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:09, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Everest (company)

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Everest (company), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The subject has been discussed twice by a major UK newspaper. Thank you. Guerillero | My Talk 06:46, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the note. Please note, I didn't place the speedy deletion tag. It is a tag placed by another editor that was removed by the article creator multiple times. I simply replaced the tag after the article creator removed it [15], so that it could be evaluated by an admin as it should be. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:06, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Re.: Harmony Airways.

Well, I do apologise, Sir, but I say, that the Tail photo is, well, rather amateurishly-made, that I must say. 94.72.222.188 (talk) 18:57, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

It may make sense to find a better one then, rather than just deleting it entirely. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:56, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
You may be able to find a better photo of their logo or tail on another source such as the old archived version of their website, which likely could be used as fair use, should you choose to improve the quality of the graphics on the article. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 18:59, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
  • It might, well, might (or might not) fall foul of wikipedia:NOR. I don't suppose you Sir, could just possibly re-use the old one, now and still at [[16]]? 94.72.222.188 (talk)
  • I'm not clear why you would think original research clauses apply in the case of logos? It isn't like someone adding statistics to an article that they feel are right, without citing a reliable source. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 20:47, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
  • (I am not familiar with the finer points of Canadian law, and in particular the law of the Province of British Columbia, not being a Canadian, but surely, the works of a non-trading, defunct and presumably liquidated, winded-up and now-non-existent company or corporation is no longer under the ownership of (owned by) anyone, and therefore no longer subject to copyright?) 94.72.222.188 (talk) 19:19, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
  • I wouldn't be opposed to you swapping in another good shot of the logo. Feel free to make such a change (instead of just deleting all together because you don't like the current one.)! ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 20:46, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Concerns and Henry Jackson (businessman)

Hi ConcernedVancouverite, I appreciate your concerns you expressed in my Talk Kat4PR (talk) today. It's never been my intention to provide a bias view when writing an article. I always try to provide a balanced view and I always make my entries informative with a neutral point of view. Regarding my Henry Jackson (businessman), it doesn't feel to be fair that you've now taken down most on an entry that I only revised so that it was grammatically correct and that it had correct information and references. You say in your edits that the information was "overdetailed content not about article subject - if notable then would be potential content for article on company" - have you seen the article the way it was before I made the edits? It was very detailed already. You have also deleted the history of my (talk) where I always post new articles for a review from the moderators. I hope you don't mind but I intend to undo this action of yours, because it is something that should stay there. I hope you agree. And just an FYI, I have been using Wikipedia for some time now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kat4PR (talkcontribs) 16:57, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

The material I removed from the article was not about Henry Jackson. It was about a company. It is not appropriate for an article about him. It may be appropriate for an article about the company it refers to, if such company is determined to be notable by wikipedia standards. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:01, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

and why is Wamda website uncredible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grapevine00 (talkcontribs) 10:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

If you are referring to the link to a copy of an article on facebook, generally reproductions on social media are not reliable sources, as they could have been edited. It is best to directly link to the original source rather than to social media copies of it. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:24, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Danny Fraticelli...

Don't understand. He is famous in Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico is part of US thats why I chose en.en.Wiki.. The music is his hobbie but he is an actor. I put reliable sources about the film "Tainos" (which has a wiki by the way) and Don Amor (has a wiki too) and also I included a link of the episode of HBO'S Eastbound and Hound and the spanish movie by MTV "Pedro".. what can I do... what else did you need? Thanks Mroxidizer1 (talk) 23:16, 26 March 2012 (UTC)mroxidizer1

Thank you for your note. Please review what wikipedia considers reliable sources here reliable sources. Adding such sources would be helpful. Please try to avoid adding original research. I included newspapers articles from the top three newspaper here, also the link for the movie "Pedro" (MTV) and other links that shows part of his acting career like the links to "Tainos" (film). More resources were added. There are tons of interviews on TV programs but in youtube also, so is imposible that way.... Mroxidizer1 (talk) 22:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dead Beat Band

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dead Beat Band, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: G8 doesn't apply to Wikipedia talk/Articles for creation pages - that's the way the AfC system is set up. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 16:22, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I was going through the multiple instances that the article author had created cleaning them up. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 17:43, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
No worries. I declined it as an AfC submission. JohnCD (talk) 20:12, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Makes sense. Doesn't look notable. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:48, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Maya (entertainer)

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Maya (entertainer), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article is not substantially the same as the deleted version. A new deletion discussion is required. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:10, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the note, Malik. I know I have seen a very similar version before, which was deleted, but do not have access to the various deleted versions (there are at least 8 of them under different titles). I'll bring it back to AfD. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:27, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

The Evangelical Alliance.

The Evangelical Alliance is an historic organisation, and was founded and established during the 19th Century. The justification for the template:Notability tag was highly dubious, and weak, at best, although I can be amenable to persuasion, and that I am interested to know as to your original justification. I thank you. — KC9TV 12:44, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

The article is poorly cited and needs to have reliable sources added. If you can help to better source the article with independent reliable sources that will improve it and the tag will no longer be needed. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:21, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Look, it might have been an obscure organisation/organization to you and I, but I think that anything that is founded in the year 1846, or thereabouts, I believe, its ancientness and venerability themselves alone mean that it cannot really be accused of not being notable, especially for a religious organisation/organization. But look, I am not a churchman, and my time is also not unlimited, and I am not sure that I can do much here; and what was your objection to the use of the Catholic Encyclop(a)edia, if any, if I may ask? (and I don't think, however, that you should attempt to put that "Notability" tag back on, unless you wish to have an edit war with a London-based (England) administrator, being the last editor to the article.) — KC9TV 15:34, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
The notability requirements on Wikipedia are fairly clear. Non-reliable sourced articles require citations. Ref improve tags are perfectly valid until such citations are added. It is fine for them not to be added by you - but until they are added they are valid tags. Enjoy your editing on other articles. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:09, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Cirex

I re-arrenged the article that it was declined and has been two months of nothing :( Hope you can help. Here it is, simple and some references: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Cirex can you help? Carlalune (talk) 04:59, 17 May 2012 (UTC) Carlalune (talk) 05:01, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

I would suggest you take the advice of the editors working the AfC boards. They generally know what they are doing in terms of helping to get truly notable subjects to the point of having appropriate articles. Looking at what you have there, it still seems to suffer from a lack of reliable sources to establish notability. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:33, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Marcel Guenin

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Marcel Guenin, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being a professor indicates importance/significance, use WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:59, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the note. He doesn't appear to have been a chaired professor per WP:ACADEMIC. I'll PROD it. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 01:11, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Crapulence

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Crapulence, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: seems reasonable enough to me - check wiktionary. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 14:11, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

It is pushing it, as it is a sickness from overeating or drinking, not gluttony itself. It is a stretch. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:14, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Ok, but WP:CSD#R3 is only for "implausible typos or misnomers". If you think it isn't a suitable redirect, take it to WP:RFD. Cheers SmartSE (talk) 14:17, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough..... ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:19, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
The same applies to repletion btw. Sorry if you think I'm being bureaucratic, but speedy deletion should only be used for clear cut cases, which these are not. SmartSE (talk) 14:22, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
No need to apologize. You are just stating your view. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:27, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Your attempts at deleting my articles

Apparently you do not have much knowledge about the field of Mathematics, but repeatedly try to delete articles started by me. Why? --Mathsfreak (talk) 19:00, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

I generally monitor articles that are added to Wikipedia in a variety of fields. When they are poorly cited I either tag them or nominate them for deletion as appropriate. It appears a lot of your editing work lacks reliable source citations, and as such has been tagged. I encourage you to read over reliable sources to get a better understanding of how to properly cite an article on Wikipedia. Best of luck with your editing. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 20:40, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
What you do effectively constitutes vandalism. --Mathsfreak (talk) 20:33, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
(Pardon the interruption) Vandalism is defined as bad-faith edits that disrupt the encyclopedia. ConcernedVancouverite is acting with good faith to improve the encyclopedia. Flagging articles as in need of sources and nominating them for deletion if the material in them can't be verified are good-faith improvements to the encyclopedia. —C.Fred (talk) 21:17, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for the note, C.Fred. Mathsfreak - please do read over the material cited above regarding reliable source citations. It is critical to properly cite independent reliable sources when adding information to the encyclopedia. Thank you. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 22:28, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
You are funny. --Mathsfreak (talk) 19:05, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Mathsfreak, I take it that by your deletion of the guidance on your talkpage that you have read the messages, and will consider that you have been adequately informed about proper contribution guidelines to Wikipedia. I do strongly encourage you to read the sections on reliable sourcing that you have been referred to multiple times. Your recent edits still do not seem to demonstrate an understanding of what an independent reliable seconday source inline citation is. Continuing to add such improperly sourced material may be perceived as disruptive now that you have had ample opportunity to read over the guidelines and have had them pointed out to you numerous times. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 21:29, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Grim Tower

Hello ConcernedVancouverite. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Grim Tower, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Having members who are notable indicates importance/significance. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:32, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

It is not clear that the group has "two or more independently notable musicians" as the notability of one of the individuals is unclear. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:34, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
I was assuming that the band-members were notable because they have Wikipedia articles. Face-smile.svg A7 doesn't set a very high bar; a band must merely be important or significant. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 15:39, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
At least one of the articles is of questionable notability (and was just created today by the same editor who created the Grim Tower article as well): Stephen_McBean. The other individual does appear to be notable. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 15:40, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

Notice!

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. VIVEK RAI :  Friend?  08:16, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the notice, although it may have been more useful to discuss your concerns directly first. For now, I will allow others to respond to you so that you understand what is an appropriate wiki contribution. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 14:22, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Disruptive Editing Notice

Your editing on the page The Ripple Effect is unrelated to the original article, but when I attempted to correct this error you sent me a Vandalism notice. If you wish to create an article about The Ripple Effect you're referring to please create a new article. You will find that they are completely separate entities and combining the information is both non-encyclopedic and disruptive. thank you. Nicokroeker (talk) 16:22, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Are they unrelated? The names are similar, as are the goals. I brought this up on the talk page. Perhaps you can comment there to help clarify the relationship of the name. Here is the link: Talk:The_Ripple_Effect. I do note that you have a potential WP:COI, so you may want to confine your editing activity to helping the discussion on the talk page rather than on the article itself. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:30, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
They are unrelated. I have followed up on the talk page. Nicokroeker (talk) 16:36, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying that, it was quite confusing as they have the same name and try to accomplish the same thing. I've responded on the talk page. It would be best to keep the conversation in one place there. If you can uncover reliable source coverage (think newspaper, news media, etc.) then perhaps you can suggest an article is created on the company. But of course, since it appears you have a strong conflict of interest, I would strongly encourage you to avoid creating it yourself. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:39, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
